  • What happens if someone keeps a check from an insurance agency that is meant to pay a bill?

My ex-husband holds our daughter's health insurance through Tri-Care. In the court order we have for the divorce, he is 100% responsible for her health insurance. She was injured at cheer practice and the ambulance company does not accept Tri-Care. Tri-Care sent a check to my ex to pay for it. He has had the check for a month and has not paid the bill.

We live in different states so my name is on the ambulance company account. Since he has not paid it, the ambulance company sent me to collections.

    I have 2 questions:

Is it insurance fraud if Tri-Care sent him the money and he did not use it to pay the bill?

Do I have any recourse to get this off my credit (and onto him)?

  • What can parents do when their teenager is making terrible choices?

Our 16 year old daughter is constantly in trouble. She regularly gets suspended from school, picked up by the police, etc. She starts rumors and tells lies. She has half the town convinced that she's pregnant. She lied to my husband and told him that I am having an online affair. She has run away twice.

I have other children. My 12 year old daughter looks up to my 16 year old and I don't want her doing the same things. My 7 year old son is devastated by the things his sister is doing.

    What options do I have?

  • Need an idea for classroom game. First grade estimation and measuring.?

I need an idea for a game to be played in a first grade classroom. The game has to involve estimation and measurement. Because we have ELL students, I need to also focus on having 8 vocabulary terms (with a picture or symbol) during the lesson/game.

I was leaning toward a treasure hunt type of game, but am open to ideas.

    Suggestions?

  • What will happen to parents whose 2 year old wandered off for 1/2 hour?

Dad was playing with older kids and mom was in bathroom when the little girl unlocked both locks and snuck out of the house. Mom left room to call grandma. Dad thought little girl was with mom and mom thought little girl was in house playing with dad and other kids.

Little girl was found crossing the street in only her panties (she won't keep clothes on most of the time) 1/2 hour-ish later by passers-by, police were called and took a statement.

Everyone who knows these parents will attest that they are good parents. It was a case of wires being crossed and mis-communication on the part of the parents.

What do you think will happen in this case?

  • What are your thoughts on University of Phoenix?

I would like to know your views on the school, whether or not you are (or were) a student, and please base your answer on facts. Please don't tell me your cousin heard that the school is a scam. I am looking for intelligent answers here. Thanks!

  • How do I not come on too strong?

I am an Aries female which means I usually come on too strong when I want something. I have a female friend who is a Taurus and I'd like to be more than friends, but I am afraid I will scare her off. She is straight but has expressed interest in pursuing a relationship with another female. We joke about making out and being lovers. We have plans to get together for coffee tomorrow. What should I do to have a chance with her?

  • Shoes for interval training?

Ok, so you aren't supposed to run in walking shoes and you aren't supposed to walk in running shoes. So, what shoes do you wear for interval training. I walk 2 minutes, run 2 minutes, etc.

I also have a slight pronation.

    Any shoe ideas?

  • I started eating healthier and working out 1 week ago and the scale says I have lost 11 pounds?

It has only been a week. How could I possibly have lost 11 pounds? I have a total calorie deficit of 5,000 for the week (when my BMR of 1,700 is taken into account). That should only be a pound and a half, not 11. I worked out 5 days burning a total of 165-275 calories each day. I have eaten 1,200 calories each day. I am drinking a lot of water. I am trying to do this the healthy way so I can keep the weight off.

I am 36, small frame, 5'3", weighed 179 last week, 168 this week.

What is going on? Why would the scale say 11 pounds?

  • I need help with parallel lines. Please help?

For my math final (last math class, thank goodness), I have to write equations of two lines that intersect but look parallel when graphed. At which point do they intersect?

I am not asking for the answer. I am just really lost with this. I have it in my head that I can write equations for parallel lines because they will intersect at infinity or on a curved plane?

Also, the class did not go over equations of lines very well and I am a bit confused about that as well. Would slope-intercept (?) work?

  • More trigonometry ratio help please?

I just want a knowledgeable person to check my work please.

A gutter cleaner wants to reach a gutter 40 ft above the ground. Find the length of the shortest ladder that can be used if the steepest angle at which it can be leaned against the house has a measure of 75 degrees.

    My answer is

    40 / x = sin 75 degrees

    x = 40 / sin 75 degrees

    x = 41.411 ft (or a 42-foot ladder?)

  • Trigonometry ratio help please?

Which trigonometric ratio is being used when reporting grade on a road? The road has a 6% grade, rises 6 ft. vertically for every 100 ft. horizontally. Did the person who figured out the grade use Sine or Cosine? I thought perhaps they used Sine because we are given the measurements of the adjacent and opposite legs.

  • Does a water displacement test work for measuring volume? I thought it was only useful for measuring mass.?

If you submerge a car, a certain amount of water would be displaced. If you crush the car and submerge it, the same amount of water will be displaced, right? However, a crushed car could not possibly hold the same volume as the whole (uncrushed) car.

  • It's been 23 hours since my last smoke. Why am I feeling fine?

Shouldn't I feel like crap right now like all of the other times I tried to quit? I woke up this morning and was pretty cranky for a few hours, but then I just got sick of being cranky. Since then, I've felt fine.

I mean, I get the occasional thought that I need to go out to smoke, but my next thought is that I am not going to.

How cool is this? It would be great if this was the worst it got, right?

So, this was day 1. I heard day 3 is actually the most challenging. Anybody out there have any input on this one?

  • I need a new hairstyle. Help me?

I'm asking this again because I did not get many responses before. I have thick, coarse hair with big natural waves only in the back of my hair. The front is straight. I currently have a shoulder length blunt cut with heavy bangs that I rarely wear down. I have a heart-ish shaped face, high forehead, and pointy chin. I don't like to spend more than 30 minutes styling my hair. Any suggestions? (I do not like short hair) Links or pics are appreciated!

  • My winter skin is YUCK! Help me?

I have yucky blotchy dry flaky skin. I also have wrinkles developing on my forehead and cheekbones. I am also very prone to breakouts when I use cleanser or moisturizer. I can't even wear foundation to hide the blotchiness because it makes me breakout. I want clear, dewy skin! What would you suggest?
