It's been 23 hours since my last smoke. Why am I feeling fine?

Shouldn't I feel like crap right now like all of the other times I tried to quit? I woke up this morning and was pretty cranky for a few hours, but then I just got sick of being cranky. Since then, I've felt fine.

I mean, I get the occasional thought that I need to go out to smoke, but my next thought is that I am not going to.

How cool is this? It would be great if this was the worst it got, right?

So, this was day 1. I heard day 3 is actually the most challenging. Anybody out there have any input on this one?

Update:

Also, how long do you have to be smoke-free to consider yourself a non-smoker?

You already are a nonsmoker. Congratulations. You don't have to have withdrawal symptoms. Consider your self lucky and enjoy it.

The real trick to quitting is seeing yourself as a nonsmoker. Act that way. As they say," fake it till you make it". If your mind wanders to thoughts of smoking tell yourself "that's ridiculous, I'm a nonsmoker".And believe it.

God bless you and keep you healthy.

  • Hurray for you!

I am really glad you are dropping this habit.

There is no official time that you are a considered a non-smoker.

The bottom line is, the less you do it, the more you won't need it. Then you will not do it anymore.

i.e. If I only drink coffee once a month, I would still call myself a "coffee-drinker".

    I'm proud of you!

    Keep it up (:

As soon as you decide to quite, label yourself as a non-smoker. Because you don't smoke anymore. This will also give you some motivation to maintain your non-smoker label.
