  • Rescheduling for a second interview?

So I applied for a position a few days ago and had a phone interview today. I have an onsite interview this Friday. However, I did not expect such a quick turnaround time. I am going on vacation for two weeks. I wish I could give up my vacation but I will not receive any refunds for my tickets. I asked the interviewer the turnaround time. He told me that it usually takes about a week to two weeks after my second interview. I cannot attend my second interview. What should I do? What is the best way to reschedule for such a bad situation?

  • Premed Looking for Full Time Opportunities in Medicine?

So I'm about to graduate from UCSD with a B.S. in Physiology and Neuroscience. I currently work in a lab but I don't think I want to work there more. I will take a few years off, take my MCAT, and expand my extracurriculars such as volunteering etc. i just want to know if there are opportunities for premeds in the medical field working full time? By full time I mean, enough income to finance myself and get experience. I was thinking along the lines of ER or like a paramedic or anything else? Any certification I might need etc.

  • College Student Interview - Manufacturing Technician (Inspection)?

So I have a phone interview tomorrow for a position I applied via my college's website (attending University of California - San Diego). I am a pre-med student entering my junior year. I don't have any past research experiences or work in the biological field. Of course, I have taken lower division Biology and Chemistry courses and have done labs for them but I am nervous about the interview. Out of desperation, I have accepted an interview for this position even though it is not a research position. I just need to get some experience in if I even dream of attending medical school.

    Here's a link to the position: http://ch.tbe.taleo.net/CH10/ats/careers%E2%80%A6

I'm just wondering what kind of questions will they ask? I know phone interviews are very basic and if they like you, they call you in for a personal interview. And is this work experience even remotely helpful to put in my medical school application or am I making a mistake?

  • Calculus Application Problem... Need Help!?

You are designing the hull of a sailboat with parabolic cross sections of y = a(x^2), where a is a constant. Your boat will have the length of 20 feet and the maximum vertical depth will be 10 feet. What is the volume of the hull?

*The limits of integration will be variables. That's the only thing I know.

  • Need some advice on flower colors to ask a girl out...?

I've been thinking of ways to ask this girl out and this is what I know... She has blonde hair, blue eyes, and she loves pets, which gives her that sweetheart personality... I want to ask her out by giving a flower everyday, from Monday through Thursday by taping it to her car...

Monday: I need a flower that will arise her attention, something that smells amazing. I will put a note saying something like, "You have a secret admirer. If you take the flower, you will find something tomorrow. P.S. Don't try to find me. Play by the rules."

Tuesday: Something that describes her. Could be anything. I was thinking chocolates and a note describing her sweetheart personality.

Wednesday: A blue rose describing her eyes and a note.

Thursday: A red rose with another note asking her out and I reveal myself.

  • Weight won't come off anymore...?

Okay, so I started working out again about a month and a half ago. At that time, my weight was 192 pounds. Right now, I am at 183 pounds. The problem, though, is that I've been stuck at 183 for awhile now. It's been about ten days and the weight has stayed the same. I know for a fact that my diet hasn't changed. I work out every single day. I've only missed two days in the past 45 days I've worked out. I am very dedicated. I jog for 20 minutes and I walk for 30 minutes. What is going on? Is this natural?

  • What schools in California have the most South Asians?

Just curious. I'm doing a college survey before I start deciding where I want to apply. I don't want to be the only South Asian walking around on campus. My guess would be UC Davis and UC San Diego?

    Thanks.

  • AP Bio exam coming up...?

So, last week in our AP Biology class, we took a practice test. I ended up with the lowest grade on the test (30%). And I definitely don't have the lowest grade in the class. I usually maintain a B average and our teacher has a good record of getting many of her kids 5's. I know you can get a 50% and still get a 5, but I have come to realize that I need to study. I only have about 3 weeks to study. I really don't have time to sit down and open a Cliffs AP Bio book. I have a few other AP's to worry about. My question is that should I still try to study my Cliffs AP Bio book or should I get the Cliffs flash cards to study. I'm aiming for a 5 but I really would be happy with a 4. I really want to get the flash cards because they're more organized and easier to go through. Which one is better, Cliffs or Barron's?

    Thanks!

  • If I take a year off before going to medical school...?

I'm still in high school, but I will most likely pursue a career in medicine. I just keep hearing stories about medical school being hard and costly and blah blah blah. I have a few questions. If I were to take a year off after my undergraduate studies, what should I do in that year? What kind of jobs can I get with my bachelors that will help me pay a little bit for medical school and provide me with an experience that will look good on my medical school application? And how recent does my MCAT have to be if I take a year off? Do I still take the MCAT my junior year even if I'm taking a year off? But before answering those questions, is taking a year off before going to medical school a good idea?

  • How to be considered for in state tuition?

I plan on going to UMBC. I am a current resident of Ohio, and I will graduate from a school in Ohio. I know that I will be paying out of state tuition the first year. The residency requirement is that I live in Maryland for 12 months consecutively.

My question is that if I live on campus, will I be considered for in state after a year? Like I'm wondering if I will have a "residential address" if I live on campus to prove that I've been living there for a year.

Also, I'm wondering if it's cheaper to live on campus or off campus?

    Thanks.

  • Suit for prom (girl's input is helpful)...?

So I have decided to wear a silver or gray suit. It will be a two-button suit with black shoes and a black shirt with a gray or silver vest depending on the color of the suit jacket/pants. The problem I am having is what tie should I wear? The suit is made of wool and I am worried that a silk tie might throw things off... do you guys think that is true? Any color combination will be helpful. But the suit is silver/gray. I just need a shirt/tie combination. O and my skin color is tan.

    Thanks...

  • General medical career question...?

So, I plan on doing the 7-year premed/med program at Rutgers/UMDNJ...

My question is if I have an interest in cardiology (something like a heart surgeon), how much time will it take? I know that I have to take a board exam after my residency to get my license, but how long will my residency take? People say it is two years for general surgeons while some people say it is four. What would be a good estimate?

Another question that I have is that if I take AP Spanish/AP Bio/AP USH/Pre-Calc Honors/Prob and Stats, and if I get an ACT score of 31 (SAT was 2050), is that a good start for me before going to college?

  • Good solo song for talent show...?

My talent show is coming up in a few months. I want to do a guitar song by myself. I was thinking of "Hurt" that was covered by Johnny Cash. I'm a beginner at guitar so nothing too crazy. But I would love it if you guys could give me suggestions. I want to maybe do two songs. And I want to leave an impact on my audience.
