  • The great cricket conundrum...?

I have a question about cricket behavior. Living in the desert I have a ton of crickets that end up hopping around on my porch and some that find their way into my apartment. Now...I make a habit to catch and release the crickets that come indoors because they eat other bugs which is a positive. But there's this one cricket that I captured from my apartment then released on my porch. Now it seems that he's comfortable with me because I'll be sitting outside having a beer skywatching and he'll just sit right next to my beer most of the time looking directly at me.

So my question is...is this strange behavior for a cricket (the recall/memory); have I found the cricket that will grant me 3 wishes and 5 Ukranian supermodels; or have I gained the ability to control insects with my mind?

I'm partially serious. If crickets are dumb how would lucky cricket know not to be afraid of Mr. Scorpio?

  • Things to do on vacation?

What should I do on my vacation!?! Hurry up, I'm on it now!

    A)Go bass fishing.

B)Change the clutch and do some general maintenance in my car.

C)Sit back, watch bad movies, and drink cases of beer.

D)Start doing the legwork for my new business. (website, license(s), patents, etc.)

    E)Something else

What say you?!? Keep in mind that I spend a ton of time on a computer so I probably want to detach for a while. Plus I have yet to order my new clutch so that would take time to get here. Speak now! Don't say go to Tijuana for a Donkey show...

  • What do u2 spy planes look like during the day?

I'm curious. I saw a black fixed wing aircraft taking passes (4 passes while I was having a cup of joe) at an object in the sky before dusk. It had a distinct tail (it looked tiered) and red and blue wing lights but the wings seemed to be slightly farther back on the body than with ordinary fixed wing aircraft. The flight height was fairly low under 10k feet (I assume); about average for commercial planes traveling over the area. Had wings similar to an a-10 except no obvious thrusters, the nose was sleeker, and didn't look weaponized. Was this a u2?

  • What kind of moth was it?

I'm just curious as to the species of moth I just saw. Looked like a small brown bat until I got him up close then I could see it's face.

It was brown/black with orange bands on the wings. Span of about 3-4 inches. Body diameter around an inch. Big straw like protusion for it's mouth (longer than an inch). And beady big black eyes. Felt like it weighed about 4 ounces. Oddest thing is that it wasn't attracted to lighting; stuck to the shadows (thought all moths were...)

    Was it mothra's cousin? ;)
