I'm trying to find an old movie. Silent era I think, and maybe Charlie Chaplin.?
The plot was a guy trying out for many college sports to impress a girl, and failing miserably. When his girl is in trouble (kidnapped I think), he executes the same athletic moves perfectly to save her. I cannot find any reference to it anywhere.

3 AnswersReligion & Spirituality6 years agoWhat, exactly, makes a lobster or a shrimp unclean and/or an abomination in the eyes of your God?
Or is it just something you accept and don't think about?
10 AnswersReligion & Spirituality6 years agoWhat does the average Christian think about Kitzmiller v. Dover?
Do they agree with the court's findings? I'm not referring to YECs or other fundamentalists.
3 AnswersReligion & Spirituality6 years agoIf God exists, and if believing in God is perfectly rational, then why does increasing rational thinking tend to decrease belief in God?"?
That's the bottom line question from this article in Scientific American.

Is rational thought just a ruse by god to test your faith, or is there another, simpler explanation?

Or Yuna Kim skating with Monte Burns?
Or Kate Upton modeling with Marge Simpson?
Or Mark Twain writing a book with with Krusty the Clown?
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality7 years agoDo you think people intentionally play dumb about the definition of "theory" in a scientific sense?
I'm not talking about the truly uneducated adults. I'm talking about college educated adults who make it seem like they've never attended high school. Do you think they really do not understand this simple concept, or are they intentionally being dishonest?
11 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoEver notice the Catholic "Profession of faith" sounds alot like the Borg in a big church?
"We are the Borg. Lower your shields. Your biological and technological distinctivness will be added to our own. Resistance if futile!"

Or is this just a hoax?
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoEver notice the similarities between Jesus and Vader?
1. There are doubts about whether or not he had a father.
2. Many books and movies describe his life.
3. He gave his life to that others may live.
4. His life was prophesied long before his birth.
5. He thinks a lack of faith worthy of punishment.
6. He performs feats of supernatural power that no other can do.
7. He has very devout followers.
8. Disbelievers are harshly punished.
9. His mentor had every intention of sacrificing him for a greater cause.
10. There are 5 letters in his name.
11. He is sometimes, but not always referred to as Lord.
12. After death, he reappeared to people.

Golden Compass is one
I really need to counteract some doses of Catachism.
2 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoModerate Christians only, where in scripture are these laws revoked?
1. A ban on working on the sabbath
2. A requirement to sacrifice a calf by the river for an unsolved murder
3. A ban on women speaking in church
4. A ban on consuming lobster or shellfish
5. A ban on tattoos
6. A ban on removing facial hair
7. A ban on men without genitals in church
8. A ban on women wearing men's clothing
Or in the absence of any explicit revocation of this "guidance", how can we justify our ignoring it?
And, if we can justifiably throw these out, how do we know where to stop throwing things out?
(ie, if we throw out some things, why can't we throw out everything, and how exactly is that chosen?)
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoCan anyone explain these contradictory Christian/Bible claims?
1. God's word is everlasting, eternal and unchanging. (Luke 21:33, James 1:17, and others)
2. Jesus backs up #1. (Matthew 5:18-19, Luke 16:17, and others)
3. The Bible explains how exactly to enslave people (Leviticus 25:44-46 , Exodus 21:2-6, and others)
4. Christians deny slavery is hasn't been elaborated on in their teachings, or that God's writings done apply to us today.
One of these four statements MUST be in error.
If so, either God was wrong, Jesus was wrong, the Bible was wrong, or Christians are wrong...
Which one is it?
