  • Travel question for parents with small children . . .?

We are planning a family vacation overseas. We have a choice: 1. Fly direct 15 hours to our destination (no lay-overs). 2. Fly 10 hours to London, spend the night, and then continue our flight the next day. The ticket prices are almost the same. Question: Has anyone done this type of trip with young kids? What was your experience? Which would you choose? We just want to make it easiest on the kids.

  • For ADHD Moms who choose to medicate . . . .?

Do you find that your child's meds work well one day and maybe not so well another? If my son has the slightest cold or allergy his meds seem to weaken and we start having bad days at school. Is this true for others? How do you handle colds and allergies. We cannot give him cold meds because it makes his ADHS meds even less effective. What do you do?

  • Does your child have anxiety at the dentist? Need advice!?

My son, who is 5, has severe anxiety at the dentist. Our family dentist referred us to a pediatric dentist who wants to use anesthesia or sedation on my son. He would be hooked up to an i.v., etc. She said that "laughing gas" or oral sedation would not work for him. She also quoted a price of $600 per sedation visit. Has anyone had experience with this? I'd like any input. I am concerned about my son's experience with this and the cost.

  • ADHD child on Metadate . . .?

My 5 year old has just been prescribed Metadate for his ADHD. So far, I am not seeing a big change. It's been 3 days. Has anyone had experience with this? Does the effect build over time? Should I call his Dr. and ask about upping his dosage? I'm not sure what to expect.

  • Other Moms of kindergarteners please help . . .?

My son is in his 2nd semester of kindergarten. He turned 5 a week after starting kindergarten in August, so he's a bit younger than some of the other kids. He has had consistent problems with sitting still and staying on task. It was gotten so bad that his teacher has said that there isn't any way he will be able to move on to 1st grade. I think she is implying that we should take him out of school for the remainder of this year. Has anyone had a similar experience? How did you handle it?

  • Need a new coffee maker . . .?

My old coffee maker is on the fritz. I need a new one. I love to make a nice latte in the morning. The trouble is, I can't afford a very expensive coffee machine. I am looking for something that can make brewed coffee and espresso (with a steamer) for under $100. Is there anything out there? What do you recommend?

  • CPS failed and now what?

Long story short: Mother is alcoholic and drug addict. Father has been fighting for full physical & legal custody with supervised visitation with mother for 10 years. Child now tells father, mother neglects her and she has been molested by a cousin at mother's house. Father called CPS. CPS requested drug test for mother but allowed her to pick the day. So, she came back clean. CPS scheduled a day to visit home of mother. So, they found nothing. CPS asked about molestation and of course, mother said child was coached. CPS now says there isn't anything they can do and child must go to mother for weekend visit. Child is scared. What to do?
