  • Recording and later watching (every minute!) workers, is there anything I can do?

My partner's boss installed cameras for the express purpose of monitoring employee productivity. This has been told to all employees. This has been shown to be unlawful (we are in Quebec).

We later learned that the bosses go home and literally watch the cameras on the weekends. They spend their time sitting there watching their employees work from home. They call multiple times a day. "Why have you been in the back room so long?" "where is Employee Name, I cannot see her".

We complained to the company, as it is a franchise. They "spoke to" the owners. The surveillance got worse. They now go back and watch everything that has been recorded. They sit in their office and watch yesterday's film. They call to tell them a specific shelf needs restocking.

There have been no thefts. They are not watching the film to see who did something wrong, they are simply watching to see IF they did something wrong.

I have done some research, and found that there is a case here, it isn't lawful surveillance. What I don't know is what to do about it.

  • What do I do? Cannot afford to renew health card.?

This info is for my fiance, as I just kept my Ontario card and pretend I don't live here.

We have called RAMQ and they said to call CLSC, who say "we can't help you"

We cannot afford to get pictures taken for the card.

We cannot afford the money to renew the card (Yes, I do realize it is only $15.)

They hear that he has a job and instantly it doesn't matter that his job doesn't even cover rent and half the food we need, let alone student loan repayments, phone bills without which I couldn't even try to find a job, etc. They just hear "Yes I am working" and think that you can afford it. We do not qualify for emergency assistance as you don't qualify unless you only have about $200 or less in the back, even though if that was all we had we would literally be homeless and have nowhere to live, and it would be much too late to help us.

I do not want help finding the money to pay for it, I am an excellent budgeter and manage to feed us on about a dollar a meal or less, but this is making us very very sick, we have both been feeling ill for a couple months, we have been trying to find the funds to renew his card for 6 months but we cannot.

What I want is someone to tell me who to talk to to get this covered some way or another.

I am sorry this isn't in french but I really don't know very much french at all, so I wouldn't have made it past the first sentence.

  • What are hospitals in Canada required by law to do?

So, I have an abdominal issue that has been a problem for over 4 years now.

It causes me to black out from pain.

I have stopped going to the hospital because they don't seem to understand, and won't really help me, but I want to clear some questions I had up.

I have an intense phobia of needles, which makes me feel like it would be better to die from an illness in a horrible way than to get a needle of any sort.

The very first test they insist on doing in a blood test.

I, of course, refuse, and ask them if they could do any other kind of test. Often they have already given me a list of at least 2-3 tests that they feel they must perform.

As soon as they hear me say "I am not having a needle" they tell me there is absolutely nothing they can do to help me, and tell me I can either get the blood test or leave.

I really do not feel that this is legal, as they should at the very least be doing all the other tests. Especially since I did once get a blood test for this, and they did not find anything at all out of the ordinary, and sent me home in terrible pain.

There are several other things they could do to see what is going on, such as an ultrasound, actually running the urine sample they make me give, rather than telling me it is "completely useless" without a blood test (which is their excuse for every test in the whole world that they could be doing on me), all sorts of other things that would not end in me having a complete mental breakdown and probably harming myself and others along the way, which is what will happen if they try to get a blood sample.

  • My cat hates her collar, what do I do?

She is 4 months old. She HATES her collar, we have tried putting it on her a few times but it was still too big so I gave up.

It is an ok tightness now, she can actually paw it off, and has done so already once today.

She sometimes gets her jaw "stuck" open, trying to chew it, but I have seen her fix it herself so she isn't stuck any more several times already, so I am not concerned about her.

There is a bell on it, is that what is bothering her? Or is it just having a collar on in general?

I do want her to have it on, but I am worried she might be hurting herself (kicking her own head a lot)

Anyways any suggestions besides not making her wear one, or buying a new one? I can definitely take the bell off, no problem, but it is so cute that if that is not the problem I don't want to take it off.
