1 AnswerMathematics9 years agoI'm trying to find some resources that i can site over the faith of abraham in Islam and Christianity.?
I am writing a research paper and connecting Islam and Christianity with their Patriarch Abraham. My thesis is going to be based on faith and I will prove that Jews and Muslims can not truly understand the faith of Abraham because they do not know Jesus as their Lord and savior.
This is what I am doing it on so sorry if you disagree but I will be happy to consider your arguments as long as you give me a source beneficial to my paper.

1 AnswerMathematics9 years agoI know works don't save, but how could you defend professing Jesus lord with your mouth(romans8:9)asnot works?
I know a few people that believe in baptism by water for salvation (Church of Christ doctrine) and I want to be able to talk to my friends when I get the chance about everything it says in Romans and everywhere else in the bible about faith based salvation but I fear they might say that professing "Jesus as Lord" is also a work. Water baptism is but this is not. How could I make that clear?
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoYou're saved as soon as you repent correct? I have a few friends that believe in baptism by water&repentance..?
I have a few friends that believe in Baptism by water & repentance as the way to salvation. I do not believe this. Recently, I've got to thinking about it and it makes even less sense when I take fully into account what the meaning of repentance actually is. Repentance is the pledge of a clear conscious toward God, correct? Then...If we pledge ourselves a good conscious toward Christ (because we have faith in him and his ability to remove sin) but believe that we must be baptized by water then when do we repent? Tell me if I'm going in the right direction with this question. Is there even an argument that could be made against that? We can't pledge a clear conscious but still carry the damnation of our sin with us until we are baptized by water. This is the way I see it, but I don't consider myself a biblical scholar and I will continue forever to seek and learn the will of Christ so please give me any helpful insight.
Just a 19 yr old trying to help myself and others walk in Christ :)
8 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoIf baptism by water was necessary for salvation then that would mean it was a law right?James2 "faith&deeds"?
ok so i'm writing up a small paper mostly centered around galatians. I'm trying to point out that baptism by water is not when you receive the holy spirit and are saved but only a symbolic ritual in reference to how God credits our salvation internally by his grace due to our faith & repentance. I'm including Paul's obvious correlation between baptism by water and circumcision (Colossians 2:11, galations..romans4) all of these and everywhere in the bible has very much so made it clear that this is the means of salvation...but I'm having some trouble with james 2 "Faith and deeds" http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=james%...
mainly my biggest problem is that here it talks about how abraham's faith was made complete in his action and that he was credited for it. I do believe that we are called to action and good works when we accept christ as our savior but this is a huge defense to the teaching of "baptism by water" for salvation (I have a few friends that go to a branch of the Church of Christ and hold to their baptism doctrine). here's a link to galatians 3 where it also talks about how abraham was justified
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Galati...
here it makes clear that his faith credited him righteousness....I need some help/insight as far as interpreting the James one.
Baptism by water is awesome and I think should be done by every christian. I see it as a command which we should follow but if it were required of us that would make it a work correct? also a law like circumcision was a law but it was not when they were circumcised that they were saves it was when god circumcised their hearts just the way God baptizes us with the holy spirit in response to pure and loving faith. If this was required our salvation would not be a gift or given to us by grace.
appreciate all the help i can get. I'm just a young college girl searching for the truth! :)
11 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoIs being justified by faith thesame thing as being saved? Not sure when I look at galatians3 and Romans10:9-10?
I've been writing a REALLY really short analysis on being saved and how we are not saved by any outwardly work/ceremony... particularly water baptism. I decided to narrow it down to galatians and a few from romans 4 and correlating water baptism with circumcision which we see in colossians 2:11-13. idk I need some help on this I think when we're justified(by faith) it means God saves us and baptizes us with the holy spirit but now I'm looking at Im not sure if there is a difference? help me out..when are we saved? there are scriptures that just mention faith and scriptures like romans that mention when you profess that jesus is the Lord
