Thermal undershirts that fit under work clothes?
I'm trying to find women's long underwear shirts or thermal shirts that fit with my work clothes. Most thermal shirts have necklines that are too high and they show. I'm trying to stay warm in a freezing business casual office.
Does anyone know of any brands that sell thermal shirts with a low scoop neck or a deeper v-neck?
4 AnswersFashion & Accessories9 years agoCan I take off the starting edge of a knit hat?
I made a knit hat that's just a tad to long for the wearer, but because of the color working I'd rather shorten the border I have on the bottom than redo the top. Is there any good way or tricks to doing this?
It's a bottom up hat on circular needles, and the part I'm looking to work is just a rib stitch.
Thanks!
4 AnswersHobbies & Crafts1 decade agoCan we just be friends?
Last spring, a boy we shall call Jack, left his girlfriend, who we shall call Jill. They were high school sweethearts, the on-again-off-again type for 4 years.
Jack started dating me in February, and admitted he still had feelings for Jill by March.
Long story short, I continued to date Jack until summer, when I was leaving state for an internship. He was still obviously confused about his emotions, so I agreed that we shouldn't try to do long distance.
Less than a week later, Jack and Jill were back together. I threw in the cards, said enough unkind words, and decided we should just be friends.
I friended Jill on Facebook, and gave her my s/n for aim (yes, aim, i know).
I started a long email conversation with her, mostly being small talk.
I've tried to make everything as transparent as possible.
No, I don't like the girl, and I think Jack can do better, but Jack says he's in love and he's happy so I'm not going to get in the way.
Problem is, she has the habit of reading Jack's old emails, and Jack has a habit of not deleting things.
She stumbled across a few letters from the summer in which i was arguing with Jack because I still was heartbroken. She's also read the letters from when we were dating, and from when he was debating going back to Jill.
Needless to say, she perceives me as the trash that stole her boyfriend and won't go away.
Jack is one of my closest friends. Things may not be completely innocent between us, but we try. I've even dated another guy since, and honestly, I'm not trying to get back together with Jack. We talked almost every day this summer, Skype-ing every week. Now we have class three times a week together, and do the weekly homework together, often with Jill joining us (not that she's willing to talk much to me).
But still, she's making ridiculous rules, like that I'm not allowed to set foot into his apartment (even though I was friends with his roommate first) and that he's not allowed to set foot in mine. God forbid I try to hang out with him outside of class. She gets insanely jealous easily. I've tried to make my intentions clear, but it doesn't seem to be getting across. I feel like she would find a way to kill me if she could get away with it.
I know this is a sticky situation. Is there anything else I can do to try to make this easier?
I've got another 8 months of this....
2 AnswersFriends1 decade agoAre there restrictions on building deep sea wind turbines in International Waters?
I have been researching floating wind turbines for a couple research presentations, and International waters were brought up by a fellow classmate.
I have been unable to find any information about any construction regulations for proclaimed international waters.
If anyone could help me out or tell me where I might find this information, that would be very helpful!
Thanks!
1 AnswerInternational Organizations1 decade agoExternal Monitor won't read signal from laptop.?
I have a Toshiba Laptop, model PSPAAU-01200S, running 32 bit Vista home premium.
The screen started dying about 6 mo.s ago. Colored vertical lines started obscuring the screen. I started using my TV (Sanyo flat-screen) as an external to avoid these lines. Everything was working fine as a dual monitor set-up.
Unfortunately, my computer crashed (which it does often, I believe from overheating), tried to restore, and now refuses to communicate with the TV.
When I plug in the VGA cable, both screens go black. That is to say, the No Signal box disappears on the TV, so the laptop seems to be sending some signal. I'm not sure what's wrong.
I have tried to restore again, and it has failed numerous times. It appears my computer can no longer restore, and I'm trying to avoid completely wiping and reinstalling the system. However, all of my documents, photos, etc are all backed up on external hard drives just in case.
Any ideas how I can fix this?
Would switching/reinstalling the OS help?
2 AnswersMonitors1 decade agoLocked jaw after wisdom teeth removal?
My wisdom teeth were removed Fri (4 days ago). Most of the pain is gone, aside from a dull constant ache in my jaw, and I'm still a little swollen.
But my mouth is stuck! I can't open it more than an inch. I can chew fine, but I'm having trouble getting food into my mouth and brushing my teeth because I can't open it far enough.
Is this kind of jaw-locking normal? Is it because of the swelling? When will it go away!
4 AnswersDental1 decade agoDouble simian creases?
I know that simian creases (a single line across the palm as opposed to two) or single transverse creases are a common marker for Down Syndrome and many other syndromes.
I have a simian crease on both hands, and an uncle with downs syndrome.
Does having the simian crease mark me as a genetic carrier for downs syndrome?
Also, does anyone know the percentage of healthy people with double simian creases like me? I know it's 1-4% for a single simian crease; I'm just curious.
3 AnswersOther - Diseases1 decade agoCan birth control help severe cramps?
I'm 20 years old.
Up until about 2 years ago, i never, ever, got cramps. I've always had a very short, heavy menstrual flow (3-4 days, changing a tampon every hour during the first day), and a very regular cycle.
When i went to college my cycle started to get longer and I started getting cramps. It was no big deal at first because I was already taking Tylenol during my period because it made the flow lighter. However, it's steadily gotten worse.
I get severe cramps the day before and the first day, along with a feverish feeling, weakness, chills, breast pain, occasionally diarrhea - if I forget where I am on my calendar, I usually am convinced I have the flu.
I switched to Midol in an attempt to make this go away. It does work better, but it makes me jittery/shaky and I still get chills and feel week.
I've been doing research and have come up with a lot of sources claiming that low dose birth control can work for this.
Is this really true? Which version of "the pill" works best? Can the extended cycle ones work for this too (the one where you only get your period 4 times a year).
So really, is it worth going to see my gynecologist about going on the pill for menstrual cramps?
2 AnswersWomen's Health1 decade agoHow to take in jeans at the knee?
I have a pair of jeans I bought on a super clearance a while ago and didn't notice until I got home (of course) that they fit rather oddly.
I'm a poor college student, so i hate to see a good pair of jeans go to waste! However, I'd also rather try to do it myself and fail then pay half my tuition at a tailors. I have limited sowing skills, no machine, just a kit of needles and a million colors of thread, mostly all new.
The jeans fit perfect through the waist and but.
It looks almost as if they don't narrow at all from there - its just one straight seem, making them look loose on the thighs and almost flared at the knees. The bottoms look ok, though I understand I'll probably have to tear these seams out to fix the others.
Any ideas?
2 AnswersDo It Yourself (DIY)1 decade agoThermodynamics with the second law - calculating work with a reversible process?
We just covered the second law in my thermodynamics class and this is our homework -
We have a horizontal piston at a constant unknown temperature. We know the pressure inside and outside the piston, and thus the external force being used to hold the piston in place. We also know the cross-sectional area and volume.
The force on the piston is very slowly reduced so that the air in the cylinder expands reversibly until its volume doubles. We are asked to calculate the work done by the air in the cylinder for the reversible process.
I assumed we were supposed to use the fact that the work transfer would equal the heat transfer, but I don't know how to start the calculations with an unknown system temperature.
2 AnswersEngineering1 decade agoReasons for a missed period?
I'm 20 years old and I've always had regular periods - usually starting on day 28 to day 30. Right now I'm on day 38, still no signs, cramping, anything.
I'm a virgin, so I'm not pregnant.
What worries me is that I got the stomach flu about a month ago - I lost 10 pounds and haven't been able to get them back. Could this be causing the delay?
If so, how delayed should it be? Will I just skip one cycle or will it just come 2 weeks late?
9 AnswersWomen's Health1 decade agoHow to beat Snood puzzle level 10?
Snood is one of the most addicting games I have ever played.
I know my family had it when I was little and I was awesome at it! I remember being able to do the puzzle level 10 in three shots. Unfortunately, I don't remember how.
I can get to the point where there is a top row of snoods with three bottom rows of skulls like this:
ooooooooo
xxxxxx__x
_____xxxx
(o's are snoods, x's are skulls)
But, alas, I can get no farther.
Can anyone help?
1 AnswerVideo & Online Games1 decade agoWhy does Microsoft Word keep trying to restart when I "x out"?
Every time I close a word document, the little error box comes up with "Microsoft Word has experienced an unexpected shut down." It then tries to restart the program and recover the data.
When this happens, occasionally windows tries to tell me the program is crashing because of the Hewlett Packard driver on my printer, but the program never crashes at all.
I'm running Vista Home Premium, 32 bit, on a year and a half old Toshiba laptop.
