Looking for consensus. I was employed by a large company that has a fairly high turnover rate. One of my former managers is trying to connect with me through an online network. I have reason to suspect it's to find out who I am connected that is working with the company, and who I am talking to. I didn't leave on negative terms. I do however notice that many of my former colleagues are connecting to me. I have not accepted the connection as of yet. Curious to know if this has happened to anyone else, and if so, the circumstances that drove you to connect, or not, to your former boss.

My family has been invited to a Bat Mitzvah, but we're not Jewish and have never celebrated it with anyone before. We know there is an expectation of a gift, but have no idea what that means.

We would like to respect the tradition of the celebration and just need some direction.
