  • What kind of bit should I get?

Right now, I have an ordinary snaffle in my ponies mouth but I need something a little bit stronger. I don't want anything really harsh in her mouth but she does speed up a lot at jumps and when cantering and it's really hard to slow her down. Thanks!

  • Should I switch barns?

I really do think it's best for me but my ponies OLD owners are telling me it's the worst thing I could do but what do you think? Reasons I want/need to switch-

    1. The drive- it's about a 25 minute drive which isn't too bad but with school starting up, I'm extremely busy and it's hard to go see my pony a lot.

    2. The money- the board is getting expensive for my family and the place im looking at is cheaper and closer but still a great place!

    3. I'm not learning anything- the barn owned literally does everything for you! Like she doesn't even tell me when the farrier is coming out, she just gets my pony ready. I feel like all i do is come out and ride her and that bothers me.

    4. No one there- their is no one there I can actually ride with. I'm looking at barns right now with my best friend and we have found a couple!

I really do think it's best for me to move but my ponies old owners keep bothering me about it and it's annoying me a little. What do you guys think?

  • Do I sell my pony or what? NO RUDE COMMENTS!?

    No rude comments please!

So I got my pony a more then a month ago and the old owner told me she was a fantastic jumper! However, it seems like whenever I jump her, our landing is hard or I'm thrown back.

Like today in my lesson, we jumped a short vertical and I thought it was really bad but my trainer thought it was our best. She is really good at flatwork but it's different for jumping. She also speeds up a lot before the jump and I can't stop her.

I really want to get into eventing but idk what I should do about my jumping situation. Please help!

  • My pony rushes at jumps?

When she sees the jump, she starts to speed up her canter.

I can slow it down nicely but then at the last second before we jump, she just bolts forward and goes over the jump faster.

This surprises me and causes me to lose my two point and/or get thrown out of the saddle

  • What should I do?

So, I got my horse from my best friend about a month ago. She will probably come visit my horse this summer but I'm worried about things...

    1. Her mane used to be really long but now it's short because I cut/pulled it.. I really like the short but I'm nervous how my friend will react

    2. My horse used to have a simple snaffle bit but she needed a little more stronger one so I got her one. I'm nervous what my friend will think of the fact that I changed her bit..

    What do I do??

  • short or long mane?

I pulled/cut my ponies mane today and I really like it better short then it was long but I was wondering what you thought.

(I know my shortening wasn't the best but it was my first time doing it and I plan on fixing it up tomorrow or so)

  • why did my horse bolt suddenly?

My new pony has gone on several trail rides and we moved to a new barn. I went on one with a girl and she was PERFECT. But then I went on one with my friend and we were trotting on a dirt road. She broke into a canter and I was leaning back slightly, saying woah and instead of slowing down, she broke into a full gallop.

It was pretty scary but when I got her to slow down (after a while), she was very fidgety and naughty. We went back in the arena and she bolted again around the corners. Why did she do this

? Is she having a off day? I have never heard of her doing this with any of her previous owners. Help!
