I love Lewis Carol's books (Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass are the best books ever written). Starbucks is one of the best company's ever created. Lewis Black, Lisa Lampanelli, Chelsea Handler, and Sarah Silverman, are the greatest comedians of all time.

  • HELP- Civil War reconstruction question!?

Hi! I'm NOT looking for you to answer this question, but instead requesting that you help me "decipher it" and determine what it's asking-

"Did the violent backlash in the south during and after reconstruction hinder the roles of freedmen?"

  • How are Tiffany pens?

    Hi!

So I'm currently a high school student and aspiring lawyer and the holidays & my birthday are approaching, so I was considering purchasing a high-end pen with my birthday/holiday money.

I was considering Mont Blanc but all of their DECENT pens start at $300 and that's out of the question at the moment. So, I thought of Tiffany! Their pens are exceptionally beautiful and look (and, because they're Tiffany, likely are) high quality- and they begin at $99 - $300!

    So my question(s)-

1- How are Tiffany pens in general?

2- Are they refillable? If so, where/how do I go about refilling them?

  • ~__Age to be an intern for a lawyer?__~?

    Hello,

Earlier this year, and friend and I were approached by a lawyer who had acted as a judge for our High Schools "Law Day" (a day where certain students do cases all day) and was impressed with our abilities, determination, and research. The lawyer gave us her card and told us that if we were ever in need of an internship, recommendation, etc to contact her without hesitation.

Well, earlier next year I'm considering sending her a letter or email regarding her offer in attempt to become an intern for her law firm during that summer.

My question is- Am I allowed to become an intern for a lawyer at 17 years of age (I'll be 17 when working their, currently 16)? And would it be worth it (how would it look on a college application)?

  • Sudden Weight GAIN after a lot of loss?

Hello. From March 17th of last year to March 19th of this year I've lost 85 pounds and hit my goal weight! :-)

After March 19th, I stopped dieting (but didn't go into a junk food "frenzie"), but did eat a little more of whatever I wanted (healthie-ish food when going out, ice cream once in awhile). I run anywhere from 5 - 9 miles a day.

In the past 2 weeks my weight has went from 148 (my goal weight) to 152.5 and I don't know why! I haven't eaten that differently from March till now! My intake of salts probably went up a bit because my family ate out a lot last week. Could the 4 pounds be water retention? How to I get rid of the 4 pounds. And it's not feces or urine because I don't need to use the facilities.

    Any idea? Thank you

  • Random light cramps WHILE RUNNING?

    Hello,

I'm an experienced runner, having ran for over a year and having completed a half marathon in January. Before Febuary, I only recieved cramps after I ate and ran, and they'd be what they "Should" be, painful and intense.

But starting in late Febuary I started having light cramps right below my ribcage during my run. They go away for a short period of time if I rub and put presure on the area while I run, but soon come back. During the rest of the day (when not doing physical activity), I have an EXTREMLY LIGHT discomfort on my upper right ribcage (the same place I get the cramps).

Do you have any idea what this could be? Could I've pulled something and as I run I start it up again? I breath correctly (I'm sure of it), I'm well hydrated, and have a healthy diet.

Thanks, and I applogize for the length.

  • What do you THINK OF THIS quote? AND CAN YOU ANSWER it?

Hello, I've been thinking and came up with this quote. I'm not saying it's revolutionary, or more than pointing out what may have been not so clear for some, but it's true, isn't it? What do you think of it, and can you answer/agree with it?

"In every age, there has been a genius, a revolutionary. Aristotle, Voltaire, Galileo, Maxwell, Plato, Kant, and the legacy died with Einstein. Who is our genius? Who is our revolutionary? Did the break down of humanity occur so much as to destroy what may have been our greatest thinkers? What occurred between the spilt ...of Einstein and now? Technology. Is that the key to our failure? Or was it the key to our success?"

  • How to lengthen my stride?!?

Hello, I've been running for a year now and have been on cross country, winter track, and now spring track. I'm a considerablly decent distance runner, I've ran a half marathon before, and as for my mile, my best time was 5:39 but I'm sure I can do better now (maybe 10 seconds better).

The problem is, regardless of what my run is, that half marathon, or that 5:39 mile, my stride length is the same! I can't seem to open it up! It's frustrating because everyone on my team insists I'd run varsity if only I could open my stride.

So, how can I open my stride? Any tips? I personally have no clue (to be honest) how I run the way I do. People say I barley move my torso and my knees don't bend at all...

    Thanks!

  • ~STRESSED~ Experienced runner GETTING CRAMPS~?

    Hello,

I'm a considerably experienced runner (I usually run 7 days a week, 5 miles a day or more), I've done a half marathon before without stopping whatsoever. And I've been running for about a year.

But now this week, 3 days in a row I've gotten severe cramps while running. I think they're called side stitches.

The first time I didn't eat in any different pattern, I didn't eat 3 hours before running or drink (which is normal for me, if I do I get cramps), the second day, I waited 3 hours after eating, and the third day I waited FOUR HOURS after eating! And I'm still getting cramps!

    ~

I've been eating banana's because I thought I might need potassium, but I'm still getting cramps :-(

What should I do to stop myself from getting side stitches!? - Age 16, MALE.

  • How much running per day is TOO MUCH?

    Hello!

So I had an alergic reaction a few days ago (WAIT! This DOES have to do with running) and the doctor perscribed me a medication that makes me EXTREMLY hyperactive. Because of this, I find myself wanting to run a LOT more than usual.

Generally speaking, I run once a day (everyday, possibly skipping 1 day a week), but lately I've been running 2 to 3 times a day doing about 4 - 5 miles per run.....

Is there anything wrong with this? It'll only be for a few more days and than I'm done with the pills.

  • IS THERE any truth to the mens "2 day rule"?

So it's been an unwritten rule on the guys track team at my school that no guy should spend "extra time alone" w/ his girlfriend or "extra time alone" 2 days before a meet because it hinders performance.

Is there any truth to this lol? Just out of curiousity.

  • Small SINGLE BUMP on the INSIDE of my neck!?!?!? HELP!?

So I was rubbing my neck (it's like a relazing thing, some people do their temples, I do my neck) and on the right side, I felt a small "semi-solid" bump on the inside of my neck. I've never felt it before, but honestly, I've never really looked or payed attention. NOTE- It's NOT noticiable from the outside.

It's not on the other side too, it's only on one side.

Is this normal, what should I do?

  • Please read my poem- Title- Shattering of the Mirrors?

The title is "Shattering of the Mirrors". Please assess my poem and tell me what you SPECIFICALY like and dislike. BEST ANSWER WILL BE awarded by HONESTY NOT FLATTERY. Thanks :-). What would you change (I know something has to be changed)

~The Shattering of the Mirrors~ by Jacob R.S.

There I stood, behind the mirrors. Looking back at what others put forward.

I, nothing but a hurt reflection, have seen more than just feeble outlines, I’ve seen the definition of their owners hearts

Staying close between both worlds, holding tight to the mirrors frame. Hoping, praying it would crack, but too frightened to kick through.

Prep, Goth, Poser, Scene, fat, thin, black, white, Christian, Jewish , poor and rich, angry, happy. All of them, they reflect the same in my mirrors.

So I watched, thought, sketched, outlined, planned. Days and days, turned to weeks. What, what was I to be?

Clean cut, smiling boy, bag in hand with a polo pony upon my shirt? No, too much of the same.

Angry, with black hair flowing, moshing to the rockers song? No, too much of the same.

I needed something new, something that hasn’t been reflected. Something, unique.

So I grabbed my sketches, my plans, gathered my thoughts, and rewrote them all to form a truly original idea.

Then? I smashed my mirrors. It was time. Hundreds of reflections surrounded me, in shards, pieces.

I taped them together to my liking and pasted them to my body.

Now? Well now, others look into my reflection as they hide behind their mirrors. They see a form they haven’t seen before.

As I pass them, the sound of smashing mirrors surrounds me, and hundreds of unique originals walk along my side.

  • ~Poem- Title- Interrogation ------- what do you think?

I wrote this poem titled Interrogation. What do you think? Best answer will be awarded by honesty, not flattery. Please specify what you liked or dislike. Thanks :-)

    INTERROGATION

It was just, so easy. I stood there thinking,

It’d taken minuets, seconds, just a sweet kiss on her forehead and a knife through her unsuspecting throat

She giggled as I did it, not believing, her blond, curly hair covered my face as I nuzzled her neck, slowly bring the blade to the back of her head.

It was just so easy, our loving kiss broken by a shriek of silence, then, blood, tubs of it, shooting everywhere,

I lifted her, to see her face, my prize, my trophy,

It was just so easy, too easy, I threw her to the side, she was as worthless in death as she was in life.

What was I to do? The carpet was a flood of blood, it sunk as I went about the room.

My hands, feet, torso, face were dark red, crusted in her blood and tears.

And then? I giggled, why? I don’t know. Maybe I felt accomplished.

But it was just so easy. I put her in a garbage bag, drove to the Brooklyn Bridge, and threw her off the side, I should of knew better, that’s when you found me.

So where is her body? I don’t know. Being eaten by fish, bears, birds? Pecking at her eyes, licking her blood soaked face?

So why did I do it? I don’t know, maybe because… It was just so easy.
