He is so loving, gentle, and great with strangers otherwise but when he wants to sit in my lap and I can't let him, he starts to bite me hard and attack my legs if I walk away. Is he just mad or offended or what's going on? Is there a reason a cat might do this?

He doesn't sit in my lap all of the time but when he does want to sit in my lap but I can't let him because I have something to do, he starts to bite me and when I walk away, he starts biting at my ankles and full on going after my legs.
