Firstly, I'm only human & thus prone to mistakes. If you see me making a mistake, especially on Islaam, please advise me (& show me how it is contrary to the Qur'aan and/or sunnah). Anything good I say comes from Allaah, anything bad I say comes from Shaytaan or myself. I tell it like how it is. I don't try to sugarcoat or water down Islaam and that's why a lot of people probably don't like me. I'm cool with that. Neither the Prophets (peace be upon them all), nor the sahaabah (radiAllaahu 'anhum), nor the righteous scholars of Islaam were afraid to tell people about Islaam. I am not ashamed of it nor will I ever be. Why would I? It's the most beautiful & straightforward religion in the world - not to mention the Truth. I do admit that I can be harsh at times, however, so I apologize whenever I am unnecessarily harsh. If you feel I am unjust, feel free to message me. • Tariq Mehanna's sentencing speech?

    Assalam Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah

    What is your opinion of his speech? And what were your thoughts when you heard about the verdict (guilty - a few months ago) and the sentence (17.5 years) just for translating documents from Arabic to English that the government didn't like (freedom of speech, you say? nahhh, that's long over especially for the Muslims)?

  • Ramadan: Have you heard of Tariq (Tarek) Mehanna?

    Assalam Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah

    Have you ever heard of this brother? When did you first hear of him? (Make du3aa for him, his sentencing is this upcoming Thursday).

    Basically, he has been found guilty of quite outlandish charges (found guilty in the last few months of 2011) - all because he chose to translate Arabic things into English. Don't believe me? I don't blame you! It's sooo out there that it's very hard to believe. This case is a blow against what people claim about there being freedom of speech for everybody. Oh, and the FBI wanted to use him as an informant, but of course he refused as any good Muslim would - to which they replied, "We're going to make your life a living Hell."

    So please make du3aa for the brother. He can face up to life in prison! This is the beauty of Islaam - you do not have to know someone personally to take some time out to make sincere du3aa to Allaah. Who knows, maybe it is YOUR du3aa that is perfect and will be answered by Allaah. Please do not forget! Get up for tahajjud and ask Allaah to grant the brother victory and for him to be released very soon without having to spend any time in prison. When you make du3aa for others, the angels make the same du3aa for you and say Ameen.

  • Qur'aaniyoons - resources?

    Assalam Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah

    Qur'aaniyoons are quite annoying to me. It's almost as frustrating as talking to an atheist because they both don't agree on pretty much fundamental things that we assume most people (Muslims or humans respectively) should know.

    Anyways, instead of spending energy each time I talk to them, would you happen to know of any documents that refute them concisely?

    Also, how much time would you give to a Qur'aaniyoon before you just leave them (for example, I'd stop discussing with an atheist after about 10-15 minutes, maybe less, if they showed no signs of being sincere)?

  • Ramadan: Why do the rawaafidh deny that the wives are part of ahlul bayt radiAllaahu 'anhum?

    Why do they deny that they are part of the ahlul bayt when there are many ayaat in the Qur'aan that indicate that the wife of someone is included amongst the Ahlul Bayt?

    I'm guessing it's because accepting this means to let go of their hatred/dislike of 'Aa'ishah radiAllaahu 'anha and instead of hating her, they'd have to love her. And it would change the meaning of Ghadeer Khum to them.

    The evidence, btw, is clear. It includes Surahs 33:33, 11:73 (the angels called Sarah 'alayhis salaam ahlul bayt), 15:59-60 (mentions that Allaah is going to save the family of Lut 'alayhis salaam, EXCEPT for his wife...meaning that his wife IS from the ahlul bayt by default, otherwise why would Allaah say 'except'), and the hadeeth of the Prophet sal Allaahu 'alayhi wa sallam saying 'peace be upon you o people of the household' to each of his wives and they replied.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    And stay in your houses, and do not display yourselves like that of the times of ignorance, and perform As-Salāt, and give Zakāt and obey Allāh and His Messenger. Allāh wishes only to remove ArRijs (evil deeds and sins, etc.) from you, O members of the family (of the Prophet SAW), and to purify you with a thorough purification. (Al-Ahzab 33:33)
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    They said: "Do you wonder at the Decree of Allāh? The Mercy of Allāh and His Blessings be on you, O the family [of Ibrahīm (Abraham)]. Surely, He (Allāh) is All-Praiseworthy, All-Glorious." (Hud 11:73)

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    "(All) except the family of Lout (Lot). Them all we are surely going to save (from destruction). "Except his wife, of whom We have decreed that she shall be of those who remain behind (i.e. she will be destroyed)." (Al-Hijr 15:59-60)
  • Ramadan: Why do you think people choose to ignore the Palestinian plight?
    Assalam Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah
    When the Palestinians fire rockets that damage infrastructure, the world calls them terrorists (even though it is their own land that they are fighting to get back).
    And when Israel does things like this from back in '09 (warning, this is a very graphic video), http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=13b_1231773588 , the world doesn't say a thing (or if they do, it's just a tap on the wrist). Sometimes they even support the atrocities.
    What do you think it is that makes people so blind? Why do people still refuse to acknowledge that it's the Palestinians who are in the right to try to get their land back?
  • Ramadan: Do the trolls here remind you of these ayaat?
    Assalam Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah
    So I guess there are a lot of trolls here, what with the 10-15 thumbs down people are getting these past few days (or maybe it's just a few people with no lives). It honestly makes me smile because it reminds me of the the interpretation of the translation of the beautiful Words of Allaah:
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~

    They (the disbelievers, the Jews and the Christians) want to extinguish Allāh's Light (with which Muhammad SAW has been sent - Islāmic Monotheism) with their mouths, but Allāh will not allow except that His Light should be perfected even though the Kāfirûn (disbelievers) hate (it). (At-Tawbah 9:32)

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~
    They intend to put out the Light of Allāh (i.e. the religion of Islām, this Qur'ān, and Prophet Muhammad SAW) with their mouths. But Allāh will complete His Light even though the disbelievers hate (it). (As-Saff 61:8)
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~

    No matter how hard they try, they'll never be able to stop Islaam. :D Allaahu Akbar.

  • Ramadan: Does anyone know where I can find that story....?

    Assalam Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah

    There was a beautiful true story I came across a year or two back. It was about a woman who met another woman who was disfigured and by most people's perspective, ugly.

    I think the narrator felt sorry for the disfigured woman, but by the end of it, realized just how blessed the woman was because she was so patient and displayed piety. I think people thought she wouldn't get married, but she did to a nice brother who didn't think anything of her being disfigured.

    I know this is kind of vague, but these are the details I can remember.

  • Ramadan: Why are people so scared to call certain groups non-Muslims?

    Assalam Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah

    In a question someone else asked, the people who called certain groups kuffar were given like 10 thumbs down.

    Why is that?

    If a person says they believe in Allaah and the Prophet Muhammad sal Allaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, but they pray to dead people, give the Attributes of Allaah to other than Allaah, or say that other people besides Muhammad ibn 'Abdullah sal Allaahu 'alayhi wa sallam are the last Messenger, how can anybody NOT say that those beliefs are kufr and, the religion is not a part of Islaam?

    Amongst the kuffar are: the twelver shi'as/rawaafidh, the Nation of Islam, Ahmadis, Qadiyanis, Qur'aaniyoons, the Nusayris, etc.

    Why are people SO scared to say this? Sure, they might say they are Muslims, but the actions are a part of emaan too (the tongue, actions, and what their hearts contain are all a part of emaan - we can never know what is in their hearts, but we CAN judge by the apparent because of their words and actions).

  • Ramadan: Is this how most guys feel?

    ok, I'm going to delete the previous question soon if this works.

    Watch this video (but PLEASE SCROLL DOWN or something because THERE ARE WOMEN WHO AREN'T COVERING THEIR 'AWRAH):

    If you weren't practicing before, is this how you (secretly) felt?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T_lh5fR4DMA

    subhanAllaah, look at the wisdom behind Allaah's laws. All of those guys would have loved to be something more than friends. There is so much hikmah behind a man and a woman not being allowed to be alone together unless they're married (or have the bonds that make them haraam for each other to get married).

    The Prophet sal Allaahu 'alayhi wa sallam said “Whoever believes in Allaah and the Last Day, let him not be alone with a woman who does not have a mahram with her, for the third one present will be the Shaytaan.” Narrated by Ahmad and classed as saheeh by al-Haakim, and al-Dhahabi agreed with him. Also classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Ghaayat al-Maraam, 180.

  • Do you guys research before you answer questions?

    Assalam Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah

    I've been wondering about this for a few days after seeing some answers that were a person's own opinion on Islaamic issues & their answers seemed like fatwas (& were contrary to what the Qur'aan/sunnah tell us). People say some things emphatically regarding Islaamic issues, even if they might be wrong. Doesn't it scare you guys? Do you research the questions before you answer them?

    “And follow not (O man, i.e., say not, or do not, or witness not) that of which you have no knowledge. Verily, the hearing, and the sight, and the heart of each of those ones will be questioned (by Allâh)” [al-Israa’ 17:36]

    For almost all of my answers, I research it first (unless it is an issue that is well known like covering oneself or not drinking alcohol) because I do not want to be liable for anyone else's sins by providing them false information about Islaam that they act upon. And this research is based on what trustworthy shaykhs have said (and have provided their evidence).

    P.S. If you ever see me saying something about Islaam without being able to provide evidence, particularly about issues that are not well-known or issues that normally have a different answer than the one I provided, please ask me to provide evidence and if I fail to, then remind me not to speak without it.

    Also, I am by NO means whatsoever even near to the status of a serious student of knowledge (in fact, I think a lot of those people we call shaykhs nowadays are students of knowledge) but just a layman (laywoman?) with the ability to research. You all also have the ability to research authentic literature, so why not take advantage of it?

  • How should I deal with a noisy neighbor?

    My neighbor's kid, an obnoxious 18 year old, has a tendency to play music really loudly randomly until about 11-1 AM (varies).

    Now, we don't get along with these neighbors because of how they treated us (our neighborhood was pretty racist back in the day in the early 90s) so asking them to be quiet is out of the question.

    What gets me super frustrated is that these particular neighbors (and 2 other families) would call the cops on my siblings when my siblings were younger because they'd say they were speeding, playing very loud music, or parked our car in such a way so that it was blocking the sidewalk. Sure they did that a few times, but they stopped. The kid now does the same exact things that they accused us of doing and I would love nothing more than to call the cops on him (especially because no one else wants to even though they had no problems about it regarding us). But things have been relatively quiet for the past few years and I don't want to spark the tension up again.

    Suggestions?

  • Do you have any good videos against Bashar al-Assad?

    Assalam Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah

    Do you have any good videos against Bashar al-Kalb....I mean 'assad'?

    Here are a few I already have seen:

    Dear Mr. Assad - spoken word

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-vjrVB-90s

    The Shirk of the Alawi religion/regime:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYxBEIg6d-o

    and

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KkiBXZCueeY

    The Syrian army mocking the religion of Allaah/salaah:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPfrDGNTsy0

    And do not watch this if you are faint of heart. It is of a precious 4-month old baby who was killed by the Syrian government. There are many other similar crimes, she is neither the first nor last innocent (child or otherwise) to be killed by them. I am only pasting this link because it's not as bloody as the other ones but it should still pierce your heart because it makes it more 'human' when we see actual people being hurt:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hd0M-8xuEJg

    Do you have any other videos that you think are worth seeing to expose the Syrian government to those who still think Bashar is in the right?

  • Why is it so easy for a question to be deleted?

    I have posted 2 questions (and they both had questions: i.e. people could answer to my original post) and someone, or some people, reported it.

    a.) Why is it so easy for people to abuse this "report" feature?

    b.) Why don't people who have issues with the question first mention it in the answers?

    c.) Why are people not consistent? There are COUNTLESS other questions here that probably don't deserve to be questions, yet they are not reported. Yet mine was?

    d.) Is there a way Yahoo! Answers can prevent people from abusing the report & the 'thumbs down' feature?

    p.s. I have appealed both reports, so whoever reported me, your influence will be much less in the future inshaAllaah if they agree with my appeal.

  • What tile should I choose with dark cabinets, black granite counter-top, and stainless steel appliances?

    We're renovating our kitchen and this is the basic idea we have for it so far:

    Deep red cherry wood cabinets

    Black granite for the counter-top

    Stainless steel appliances

    I'm thinking of definitely using a light gray *something* (slate, stone, ceramic, etc) for either the backsplash or the floor.

    But I'm at a loss of what I should use for the backsplash (if we go with the light gray floor) or for the floor (if we go with the light gray backsplash). Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks!

  • Ear sensation?

    Hi. So I have this weird problem in my left ear. I have yet to visit a doctor, but I thought I would ask here as well. Whenever I hear something at a loud enough sound (can be somebody screaming, talking really loudly, my niece crying, the radio, etc), the sound kind of becomes different and I feel the vibrations from the noise. I can almost imagine the vibrations hitting my ear drum...but I am worried. This doesn't happen in my right ear and the noises don't have to be very loud. What is causing this? Sometimes I feel as if it's going to burst (my ear drum) when this happens. This has been going on for awhile...a few months at least. I would even say a year because I think it may have something to do when I was coming back from Hajj from Saudi...I caught something there and the pain was horrendous when we were going up/landing from the airplane. Thanks...
