Do you guys research before you answer questions?
Assalam Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah
I've been wondering about this for a few days after seeing some answers that were a person's own opinion on Islaamic issues & their answers seemed like fatwas (& were contrary to what the Qur'aan/sunnah tell us). People say some things emphatically regarding Islaamic issues, even if they might be wrong. Doesn't it scare you guys? Do you research the questions before you answer them?
“And follow not (O man, i.e., say not, or do not, or witness not) that of which you have no knowledge. Verily, the hearing, and the sight, and the heart of each of those ones will be questioned (by Allâh)” [al-Israa’ 17:36]
For almost all of my answers, I research it first (unless it is an issue that is well known like covering oneself or not drinking alcohol) because I do not want to be liable for anyone else's sins by providing them false information about Islaam that they act upon. And this research is based on what trustworthy shaykhs have said (and have provided their evidence).
P.S. If you ever see me saying something about Islaam without being able to provide evidence, particularly about issues that are not well-known or issues that normally have a different answer than the one I provided, please ask me to provide evidence and if I fail to, then remind me not to speak without it.
Also, I am by NO means whatsoever even near to the status of a serious student of knowledge (in fact, I think a lot of those people we call shaykhs nowadays are students of knowledge) but just a layman (laywoman?) with the ability to research. You all also have the ability to research authentic literature, so why not take advantage of it?

I do research. That way, I know my answers aren't my own opinion, they're Quranically-based. If something is my own opinion, I state that up front so there's no confusion, but I won't give an opinion that contradicts the Qur'an when it comes to Islam and its practice.
If it's my own question, I will ask others for help on where to find information on a topic, they'll give me some references, then I will verify it for myself from the Qur'an. I always tell people to check for themselves, not to assume that someone else is right.
Let me point out one thing: you are not, under any circumstances, liable for another's sin. What someone else chooses to do is their choice. You are only responsible for your own actions. Nor can you do something, like hajj or ummrah, for another person's benefit. We all bear the punishment and receive the reward for what we do.
Qur'an 35:18
"And none can carry the load of another; and even if it calls on another to bear part of its load, no other can carry any part of it, even if they were related. You will only be able to warn those who are concerned towards their Lord while unseen, and they hold the contact prayer. And whoever contributes, is contributing for himself. And to God is the final destiny."

Wallay kum asalam.
Not really. I usually answer only questions I know about.
Btw, Music should be avoided. Since it is doubtful. When in doubt, avoid it. It is not worth burning in Hellfire forever.

Wa alaykoum salam
You mean how some people say music isn't haram?
Back to your question though, Not all the time. If i know the answer from hearing it from whoever/wherever, then i share it here. If theres something i don't know, i try not to state it as a fact by starting it off with "i think"

sahar, taken from cute's answer: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Among my ummah there will be people who will regard as permissible adultery, silk, alcohol and musical instruments.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari (5590). See also: al-Silsilah al-Saheehah by al-Albaani (91)
Ibn al-Qayyim said: If the zamr (a kind of pipe or flute),which is the least evil of musical instruments, is haraam, then what about those which are worse such as the ‘oud (a stringed instrument), tambour (drum) and yaraa’ (a reed instrument)? No one who has had the slightest whiff of knowledge should hesitate to regard them as haraam, and the least that can be said is that they are the symbol of corrupt evildoers and wine drinkers. .
thats from Bukhari, very reliable....and even if it wasn't haram(which it is), then why would you be willing to take that risk of it being haram?
