  • Why 2 different loans?

This is going to be a silly question, and probably something I should have insisted on understanding better at the time.

When my Hubby and I bought our home we were approved for $220,000. We bought a home for $205,000 and have a 10% down payment which we had saved up. This was in 2006.

Yet when we did the mortage the mortage was split into two parts. The primary mortage far $160,000 and then a HELOC for the last $25,000 we owed. I asked WHY we needed the 2 loans if we had been approved for the $220,000 which we were well under. The mortgage broker was somewhat confusing in his explanation. They basically said we were not allowed to get the full amount all into one loan. That the 2nd loan was to pay for something yet did not explain what. We recently paid off the HELOC in it's entirety.

I never understoof at the timr why we couldn't get just one loan and since Hubby and I will be looking to move next year want to make sure this was not just some sort of scam from our broker. What was the purpose of the 2 loans? I am looking to understand things better then i did with our first home. Can someone explain what possible reasons there were for pretty much forcing the division of the mortgage?

    Thanks!

  • Where can I make quizzes?

I am looking for a website where I can make online quizzes to help myself study for classes. I need a site that is free, that will allow to insert as many questions as needed into a quiz (like over 100), will randomize questions, and will allow me to insert images into quizzes.

Once finished the quizzes need to be posted online so everyone can access them. Anyone use any good quiz sites that will allow me to do this? If i must pay for membership to a site i am willing but would prefer not to.

My class is using these to study and I need a good site to do this. Thanks for your help!

  • Having pain when chewing food.?

I am having a sharp pain in the bridge of my nose, right between my eyes, while I am chewing. When i am not chewing i am fine, but when I chew something crunchy that requires me to bite down... my nose gets a sharp pain right behind the bridge of my nose. I recently had a bad cold and have had a runny nose, cough, and nasal drip. Anyone have experience with this?

  • Online scrapbooks?

I tried asking this in the hobbie forum and got no answers. I figure someone here might have experience!

I have just started to look into some of the online services that do scrapbooking. I don't have the time to scrapbook myself, not to mention the expense of supplies. However I do have time for this as it is very quick. These are services where you upload your pictures, then pick out backgrounds, layouts, corners, captions, and other accessories to make a book. I have looked at Picabo and shutterfly, but does anyone else have experience with these services? How do the books come out? What are some of the better sites for this?

  • What is the Best and Worst?

We all have stories about children's behavior in public. I'm sure everyone can think of time when you were absolutelu horrified by a childs behvior and the parents total lack of response. Also, I'm sure there are a few times when you are amazed at how sweet they can be if they want to be. So... what are your stories. What is the absolute WORST behavior you have seen from another child? What is the best?

  • When staying at a persons home.....?

Is it considered OK to use the soap there? Or should you always only use your own? Is it considered disgusting to use a bar of soap at a friends home when you are staying for a few days?

  • Cat peeing on Sofa?

Matisse does not have a UTI as he does this once every two weeks or so. He used to do this alot but we changed his litter and it got better. He has two litter boxes that are fully cleaned every monday and thursday. He is neutered and an only kitty. No major changes in his world recently.

He just peed all over our sofa again. We put him outside on the patio for the evening but I am looking for ways to stop him. Hubby wants to get a water bottle and spritz the little guy to teach him to not step onto the sofas at all. I am not against that but am wondering if any of the Feli-away sprays work? Or if there is some other reason cats do this?

  • Cat ate ribbon?

My cat just ate some curling ribbon, at least a few inches. I hear him making crunching noises and when I saw to him the last bit of ribbon was sticking out his mouth. He hid and swallowed it before I could pull it out. It was a piece of curling ribbon and now I'm worried about the little guy.

Matisse seems perfectly fine now, but the ribbon has only been in him since about 1pm. I am worried that this could hurt him and cause some sort of bowel obstruction. My hubby says I should just watch him and so long as he seems fine let it be (besides that we just dont have 2,000 to spare for a surgery).

The cat right now is his normal self but what should I keep a look out for? The piece of string was fairly long, how worried should I be?

  • Elevated WBC count in GI bleeds?

Why is it that patients with GI bleeds will often have elevated WBC counts? I was trying to think of the mechanism behind this but could not.
