  • I am buying a lot next to mine, but the owners of the lot live in London, how do I get the deed notarized?

Will a UK notarization of their signature of the deed work, or do they have to go to the US embassy to get a US notarization done on the deed?

I am asking generally for California and Nevada, in case it comes up in the future. The current property I want is in California.

  • Bought car, registered, trade in paid off, but financing fell through?

I bought a new car a month ago. They paid off my trade in, I put money down, and we financed the new vehicle at the dealer. I got the bill of sale in the mail and the car is registered. The loan has been paid on the trade in...

Just got a letter from the bank that supposedly financed us that we were denied...

I called the dealer two days ago and he seemed to think all was fine and he said he had mailed the bill of sale which I did receive, but that was before this letter.

So, what does this mean? Might there be financing different than I am aware? Can the dealer take the car back after all this time? Did I just get a car for the cost of my down payment? First payment would have been set for 20 days, but now I'm not sure who to pay or what!

  • What to do with baby quail?

So, all the bird rehab centers locally have closed "due to funding issues." My cat brought in a young quail last night (I found it this morning). It appears to be making a recovery and has no broken skin from the cat attack. Its main issue is likely dehydration and from being cold having hid under my dresser all night.

It is legal to keep quail in my area.

I have read that the adults will kill an orphan chick. My original plan was to throw him outside the next time a quail flock roamed through, but it sounds like this might mean certain death. If I keep it a few weeks into adulthood, and release it then, do you think it will find a flock? Or am I stuck with a quail?

  • Good online retailer of Peppermint Shrimp?

I want to order about a dozen or more peppermint shrimp. I'm looking for recommendations and opinions on good places online to get some in bulk, ideally with cheap or free shipping. Any suggestions?

  • I have a question on Crocea Clam appearance? Dan, you might know?

I've had this large crocea, purple, for several years. He is in a 80 gallon reef tank, top of the rock pile, under a 250 watt halide, 14,000k spectrum, plus two 50/50 96 watt PCs. He has always had good color and has grown significantly since I have owned him. He is about 5-6 inches.

Recently he has some banding on his flesh where the bright purple color has faded, and is blotchy, like a picture with bad resolution. I assume it is bands where his zooxanthellae is dying. Water tests perfect, (maybe too perfect? Maybe he doesn't have enough nitrate?), and I have had no heat issues or any other obvious problem. I have increased water changes in case he is lacking in some element I am not testing for, but so far no improvement over several weeks, but he isn't getting worse either. The bulb is about 6 months old...think is might just need replaced? Maybe he just got too large and now needs a 400 watt halide?

Any idea what might be causing the banding? Is it some deficiency on something I can supplement?

He is in with mostly LPS coral, and nothing nearby that can be stinging him. Fish are a firefish, two zebra dartfish, a neon dottyback, a mandarin goby, and a tailspot blenny, all of which have been in the tank for years.

I am at a loss on this one, having never ahd a clam do this before.

  • Flatworms on Hammer coral, help?

I recently got a new complete saltwater tank from a friend moving out of state. He said his tank was "cursed" and he constantly lost corals and fish. I fixed up the lighting, added current, etc, and everything seemed great for a few weeks. Then the euphyllia started to look bad 50% of the time.

I looked very closely yesterday, and discovered the problem...flatworms are smothering the hammer coral. The torch corals which came from my other tank, have not been infected yet, but the hammers he had surviving from before are covered. The duncans and other corals have no infestation, but the mushrooms do have a few on them. There are none in the sand, rock or glass I can see. They appear to only attack the euphyllia and mushrooms. I have run into the algae eating worms before, but not these. These appear only to attack the corals

Here is the hammer smothered with the things (look close).

    http://s1153.photobucket.com/albums/p505/RenoAquar...

I added a six line wrasse a few days ago by a fluke, and know they will eat some flatworms, but there are hundred more than I think the one little wrasse can handle. Also, I'm not sure if the wrasse will get any worms that are on the soft flesh of the corals... I do not trust chemical treatments, and know many dips are dangerous to euphyllia.

Anyone know what more than a six line wrasse will help me get rid of these things? Manual removal is not a real option as I would have to sit for hours and pull hundred of these things off one by one....

  • Anyone order from ccritters.com (Cramer's Caribbean Critters) before? Looking for info before I order?

I ran across these guys who have very decent pricing on many marine critters. I've never ordered from them, and get leary of unknown online marketplaces...

Are they legit? How were the animals? How bad was shipping cost?

Personal experience only please. I just want to know if they are a reliable supplier to order some pipefish and coral from. Also, are the seahorses tank raised?

  • If someone killed a kitten or puppy in 2-4 years, would that show they took proper care of it?

    No?

Then why do people think that when they kill a fish in 1-5 years that if cared for lives 10+ years (or even 40 years or more for some species) that they were good owners and their improper care was "perfectly fine"?

  • Good place to get seahorses online, for reasonable price but also good quality?

My LFS shut down a few years ago and obviously PetCo is not a place to get seahorses! I have females only at this point and want some males to start breeding again, I have Reidi and Kuda. My fellow breeder I knew from a local fish club, moved away so all my local connections are lost as far as horses! Stupid me traded her my older males for the promise of some younger ones from a different genetic strain from her next batch, and she moved away before I managed to get some from her.

I am setting up another nano (30 gallon) and wanted small pipefish and dwarf ponies too. I would prefer tank raised, and so far am only seeing wild caught dwarfs :(

Is there a reputable place online that has them reasonably priced and allows you to chose gender?

  • What causes a refugium/caulerpa crash?

The grape caulerpa is dying off rapidly. The Chaeto is still fine.

What trace elements or other factors might cause caulerpa to turn white and die off? This colony has been growing strong for many years!

  • Should I stay or should I go?

Stay in a job I love with people I like where I have been for the last 3 years, or go to a new job with some people I used to work with (worked with for 10 years)? Pay is about the same, benefits are slightly less at the new place, but the drive time is cut drastically, 10 miles a day vs 80 miles a day.

I am super happy with my current job with no reason to leave. And the drive isn't too bad, I actually enjoy the quite time most days but hate the price of gas.

I do have the promise of bonus incentives and the potential to make a lot more money at the new place, but I do not think it is as stable of a job.

  • What job should I take? I am at a crossroads and am looking for some input.?

I worked for a firm doing work on land and water management and was their directer of operations for over 5 years, working there over 10 years total. The economy hit them hard and when they were looking to lay people off, I actually got a job offer elsewhere and left so that they could keep everyone else on. I had been training a girl to do my job anyway, so the transition was pretty smooth for them, although it was terribly hard for me to even decide to leave!

I made almost twice as much money in the long run, though. I'm now doing more the legal aspect instead of the engineering side and love my job, but have to drive 40 miles each way to get to and from work and cannot sell my house because it is worth less than I owe, so I am stuck with the commute unless I want to ruin my credit, which I do not want to do.

I got a call today from an Engineer I used to work with who has moved over to a large engineering firm. Turns out my old Company went under about a year after I left and they had to let everyone go in the end anyway :(

He offered me a job making as much as I make now plus some potential bonus options. I also would not have to drive as far. I would have employees working for me again, instead of just being an employee. I am not sure if I want to manage people again though.

The think is, I am very happy in my job now, enjoy it, and have very high job security, knowing I'll be busy and gainfully employed for the next 10 years if I chose to stay. I get along with everyone and am treated with great respect. I've know the owners for many years, and our kids go to school together.

This Engineering firm seems stable enough, offered me the same amount of money with room to advance, and the drive time would be less, but I do not feel it is as stable and I think it will be a higher stress job. Plus I do not know if I still would have my own office, plus the place I am at has treated me so well, I get a ton of paid vacation, a lot of freedom, a window in my office, etc, (more than the new place could offer i think). Also, I am a loyal person, and in the last 15 years I have only worked at the two places.

What would you do? Law or Engineering, stability vs. locality, sure thing vs. not so sure, manager vs. lone wolf, etc.

Did I mention I am a libra and can never make a decision LOL

My degree is actually in Computer Science and Mathematics, not law or civil engineering although I took several advanced water chemistry classes with the intent to be an environmental engineer at some point. So I'd be a paralegal or a technician.

  • Who has a saltwater tank?

Just curious. I just read a post where someone said asking about saltwater on here is stupid because nobody here does saltwater..but I always see lots of saltwater questions and am on here all the time myself and have saltwater...

    So, got Saltwater?

And if you do have saltwater, did you start with freshwater, or even have a single freshwater tank? I started saltwater, except for the betta I killed in little bowls when I was like 6 and the goldfish I won from fairs, again when I was like 6. I was ONLY saltwater all through college, and then decided to do some planted tanks and cichlid tanks (my roommate in college had cichlids, I eventually fell in love).

  • We are planning a trip to Washington DC in May, any pointers?

    Any Hotel recommendations?

What are some must do/see attractions? Any pointers on days or scheduling (is it better to see the monuments, or go to museums, on certain days for example -like a Wednesday being better than a Saturday or something)?

    Any good aquariums?

    Favorite restaurants?

    Any other suggestions?

We'll be there for about 5-7 days (still planning exact details).

    Thanks for any pointers!

  • I bought a phone from Verizon three months ago, it is broken and never really worked?

I had their "military grade" phone that is supposed to be indestructible, water proof the entire bit. It lasted one and a half years, broke first where it charges on the bottom (within months), then eventually stopped taking calls all together(I could call out but not receive.)

So I went and bought the new one. I paid $200 for the new phone, a supposedly new and improved version of my old one....

The display broke the first week from just being in my pocket.

The reception is terrible. I don't always receive calls, they cut out, some texts I never get, etc. It isn't like verizon, and other verizon users in my home have no trouble, so it is obviously the phone not the service.

Now it won't charge! The new USB port was supposed to fix the charging problems of the old phone, but the cord doesn't fit snugly and you have to position it just right otherwise no charge...

I did not get the insurance on the phone, and am wondering if there might be a manufacturer's warranty or something for this piece of garbage, or am I just stuck paying another $200 for yet another new phone? Any phone that actually works from verizon? I only want something that texts, takes calls, charges, and doesn't shatter when you look at it wrong....

  • How do I set up an online sales business in Nevada?

Do I need an EIN if it is just me, or does my SS work?

Do I file a state and city/county business license?

Do I collect taxes for out of state sales?

What is a good ecommerse hosting site with comprehensive cart/checkout and supply tracking?

I've done a brick/mortar business before, and hated retail. I want to sell online only, mostly live coral and reef tank supplies. I think I need a license to get my wholesale suppliers to sell to me again.

Any help or information would be great! Also any general tips on how to manage and run an internet sales place is appreciated, including good hosting places, marketing, shipping, insurance, etc, etc, etc

  • Is there any palce that sells the freshwater seahorse? I saw it on TV and am now interested!?

I was surprised last night, there IS a freshwater seahorse. I say a blurb on it on a show talking about Lake Titicaca. I've never heard of a freshwater seahorse adn was wondering if they are protected or if any are available for the home aquarium.

Anybody know anything more about the Lake Titicaca seahorse? I'd be interested in just reading up more about them.

  • What should I name my new betta? He is a Chocolate color Veil Betta.?

    I am looking for ideas.

    So far my list:

    Hersey

    Victor

    Jack

    Ash

    Ember

His girlfriend's, name is Dijon because her fins are the color of mustard. She is another chocolate veil betta.

He looks like this picture, but is more black in the body and brighter orange in the fins. Plus he is a nice smooth veil tail, not jagged like this one.
