My 7 year old has been diagnosed with ODD & ADHD. They want to put him on Risperdal & Ritalin. 3 years later he have agreed to a low dose of only Ritalin 5mg. Dr. wrote a prescription for 5mg 1 time a day at noon. Needed a new prescription written because the last one expired (we chickened out). The new one says 10mg 3 tablets at noon. That is 30mg a day for a first time user weighing 60 pounds. Pharmacy thought it was too high also & called the doctor yesterday but she said it was correct. I have a bad feeling about this. haven't given any medicine yet & tried to call his dr. myself but she is on vacation till next monday. Anybody have a child using the drug? Does 30mg at noon sound safe?

I'm having a yard sale during our town Carnival this Sat. The yard Sale purpose is to make a few dollars and to make room in my garage to park a car this winter. So make money but also be sure it leaves my home. I have priced things what I believe to be cheap but not sure. Tell me what I should change these prices to if needed so people leave thinking they got a great deal. I'm not a yard seller so I am clueless. I live in a middle class neighborhood with lots of elderly & new families moving in. Not far away from a street with section 8 rentals also. Everything has been washed. I want to do the yard sale, not interested in Craigslist. Also I read to price things high & have people haggle with you, don't want that either.

My husband works for a company that has a point system. They are allowed 6 points which means 6 opportunities to miss work due to illness or whatever reason needing off. He has worked there for 6 months and used 2 points when he became sick with the flu. Recently while at work sitting at his desk his lung collapsed. He missed 4 more days because he was in the hospital. While in the hospital he was given a number for Family and Medical Leave Act. This was given to him by his employer. He called the # and was told by FMLA to get a letter from his doctor saying it's ok to return and all is well. Today we received a denial letter from FMLA. This is one day after they said he could return. He was denied for not have worked 12 months. His employer never told us he had to work for 12 months neither did FMLA. As of now he has no way of contacting his employer and yesterday they never returned his calls. Is there any other resource out there that can help us?

My hubby did Tech. support for a computer company for a few years. A couple of months ago he had gotten a much better, higher paying tech. support job for a completely different type of company. Since then he has gotten 4 employee's from his past employer a job at his present. Recently he just helped 1 more get hired. The guy just hired said a big meeting was being held today at the past employer about my husbands "recruiting" their employees & knew nothing else.

Might be a stupid question because I feel the answer is he hasn't done anything wrong but could there be some sort of thing that makes this illegal?

They offered a used one but I declined because it was new & in warranty. I also explained I had $100+ of apps. that I can't get back. I have proof of all those purchases. Today they called & said they ordered a new one & it will be in tomorrow. When I asked about the apps. they said "we don't replace apps.". Should they be responsible for that cost also?

I have backstage passes to the Adele concert at the Xcel energy center in MN. Can I bring a camera and take a few pictures?

My son was diagnosed with ODD/ADHD at the age of 5 age is now 6. His current Pediatrician since birth & Psychologist are adamant about putting my son on Risperdal. A terrible drug with horrible, horrible side effects used to treat autism & schizophrenia in children ages 13 and up, none of which my son has been diagnosed with. We refused to put my son on this but suggested to start with a very small dose of ADHD medicine. His doctor wants nothing to do with this idea & says Risperdal is our only option! Well we are no longer wanting his services but now need to find the right doctor asap.

Anyone have recommendations in the Mpls area with a doctor that is CAREFULLY treating their young child with both ODD/ADHD?

I have a very outdated bathroom with pink tile covering just about every wall. I love to do DIY projects but can't afford to replace the tile. I can however afford to paint it. I read up on it and found the paint & directions but don't want the end result to look tacky. Has anyone done this and liked the results?

My wii won't read any discs. It pops up a white screen with a question mark and tells me to look at the manual for Trouble Shooting. Well I can't find the manual. Just now my 5 year old asked me to put on Net Flixs & I told him the wii is broke. Well he told me "I bet it's because I put magnets on it". @*%$!!! Could magnets have broken the game system? If so is there a way to fix it? Are there any other possibilities?

My husband and I are celebrating our 8 year wedding anniversary along with our 30th birthdays. We only go out once a year and it's always to dinner and nothing more. We live in the Minneapolis area and I want to plan something fun as a surprise. I'm pretty new to this area and Google hasn't been much help. What were some fun memorable dates you've been on? Any ideas are helpful.

I have a 9 month old baby who just had his 2nd ear infection. We took him to the Dr.'s and had been treated by a different Pediatrician, not the one both my sons have seen since birth. She let us know she has only been in the practice for 6 month. We asked how & why a ear infection happens because my first son never had one. She said from cigarette smoke and gave no other reason. My husband smokes and she probably smelt it on him and/or read it on the chart. I let her know we had never allowed smoking in our home or car nor do we allow my children to be held while smoking. She looked at us as though we were lying! Then she told us it was from the odor left on his clothing. After he has a cigarette, doesn't matter how long ago, the odor on his clothes will cause a ear infection.

Is this true? Could something other than that cause an ear infection?

I have a basement that we use for a toy room also as another place to watch tv. It has wood floors and a nice ceiling but has that fake wood on the walls. It is so dark and I hate it. I was talking about painting it to my father n law and husband but they say you can't. We can't afford to replace it with something else. Has anyone ever painted theirs and what kind of paint did you use?

My home is a reverse rambler. The bottom half is orange brick and the top half is Mauve wood siding. We are about to paint in a week or so and I haven't decided on a color yet. We are a fun family and I want a fun color. All I can think of to go with the orange brick is green. Are there any other colors that you think would go nicely with the brick? Or a fun accent color to go with the green.

At a year old my son was in a toddler bed because he continued to climb out of his crib. One morning I smelled gas, went into the kitchen and found him sitting on the floor eating baking soda & the stove partially on. Immediately my husband and I turned his bedroom doorknob around and began to lock him in his room. He then would kick the wall to let me know he's awake and I would let him out.

At around 3 years old I stopped locking him in and caught him tip toeing by my bed sneaking out with my ipod. I have no problems with him playing with it but when I saw he was being sneaky we began to lock him in again.

Now at 4 years old he opened his bedroom window, threw a beanbag chair out and jumped onto it. He hopped on his red rider and road it about a block to a neighbors house we were friends with. He just walked into their house and said he didn't want to go to sleep. Around 9:30pm I get a knock at the door and there's my son with the neighbor!

We now have fixed the windows so they open only a crack along with locking him in. I worry a lot about what if we have a fire but I also worry about him leaving our home especially during a MN winter. I just read a story about a lady going to court for locking her son in his room. I hate doing this but he isn't scared of anything and will wonder off in a heart beat.

Could somebody give me an alternative to keeping my son safe at night.
