My current Antivirus Software (Trend Micro) want to lock up and freeze the computer whenever it starts its scheduled scans. The software want to get its updates before I even get a chance to go online (dial-up connection) - have no problem with the update feature but the scanning feature. The overall status says up to date (protected) but the last scan date was almost three months ago and i still have two more months left in the subscription. When a scan starts the pop-up window will not let me pause or stop the scan or close out the window. The only thing that moves is the elapsed time clock / no progress bar moving / no individual files or programs being scanned at all / to get rid of the scan window and whatever other programs i had opened - I have to hit the main power button to shut down the computer completely then restart it back up getting a message saying Windows Vista was not shut down properly.

Antivirus 2007 (disk) / 2008 online renewal of 1 year subscription / Windows Vista Home Premium operating system

Any suggestions on how to fix this problem or websites that offer free antivirus software.

How do I turn off or disable a write protection / read only feature for either selected data files or the entire USB Thumb Drive? / I have tried to move some photo files and got a read only notice (was able to copy the files but not delete them off of the thumb drive) / Also have tried opening a database file that is stored on the thumb drive and receive the read only-write protection error message.

Computer is HP Pavilion a1710n with Windows Vista Home Premium operating system if that helps / Thumb Drive is LEXAR Jumpdrive 256MB Capacity

I have some old anti-virus software and access keys (Norton System Works 2002 and AntiVirus 2005) that I want to give to a friend that has a refurbished laptop computer (running Windows XP from what they said) / the laptop is currently very virus infected causing computer problems. The friend is using the laptop for Online College courses.

Will this software still work on this laptop? (considering it is a couple of years out of date and all)

I would like to re-establish contact with people that I made friends with while I served in the Air Force from 1996 - 2006

I open up my FriendFinder Messenger Program (Version 4.1) and it shows up on the bottom bar as open and running but no program shows up on the main screen. It's like stuck outside the moniter view window so you can't snag it with the mouse pointer. I tried un-installing the program once then reinstalling it to try and fix the problem - no luck. Upgrading to the latest version didn't change anything either.

Why do I keep getting a resolved question (SSI-fwts Requirements is the Question Title) in the Military Category when ever I go to the link (Show Me Another) to Look at and possibly answer another OPEN QUESTION / This question was resolved over THREE MONTHES AGO but keeps popping up each and every time i go to next question.

I end up having to delete / close that web page and go back to the Military Menu page to try and find a NEW OPEN QUESTION to possibly review / answer

I have an old 87-89 time frame Rhode Gear THE EDGE Bicycle Computer working again but the calibration setting is OFF / Bike was in storage for 10 years - no idea where the operator manual is

(Did a 10 mile distance – computer registered it as 16 miles) / have no idea how to reset the tire calibration for that computer – can’t locate the users manual (if I even still have it somewhere)

Anybody have a website for Rhode Gear or their parent company Bell Bicycles? I figure try contacting the Manufacturer to see about getting a replacement manual to reset the tire calibration.
