Do you have a Mother's Day Brunch, Lunch, Dinner, or two of the three?
I'm curious as to whether people have mother's day brunches, lunches, dinners, or a combination? If you have more than one meal do you go all out for both or make one simple? What do you typically serve?

7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIf you pray in a 4 week cycle with a prayer book, what do you do when there is a 5th week in the month?
I recently purchased a Lutheran Book of Prayer which has a 4 week cycle of rotating prayers. But what do you do when there is a 5th week as occassionally happens? I'm not just targeting Lutherans, but anyone who has a sturctured prayer life.
2 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoHas anyone seen/used the Reformation Study Bible in NIV/ESV?
Does the ESV version have the Christ in the OT feature? I have read that they are different even though they are both called 'reformation study bibles'.

My church just stopped having Sunday evening services. I'm at a loss. I think you should worship all of Sunday and need 'closure' to the weekend. Any suggestions?
3 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhere can a divorced/remarried woman and her new husband go to church?
I am divorced and remarried and my new husband is a new Christian. I don't want my divorce to be an issue for him when we hunt for a church. Any advice? We prefer 'traditional' services as opposed to contemporary.
I went to a baptist church for Divorce Care (highly recommend) but they are contemporary and I didnt' really get involved i anything else after the course.

1 AnswerOther - Holidays1 decade agoIs it tacky to give a gift card as a wedding present?
My niece is getting married in two weeks and she chose a registry that includes nothing I can afford. Is it tacky to give her a gift card to that same store in an amount that I can afford?
20 AnswersEtiquette1 decade agoHow much tax is taken out when you cash in an IRA and how much is paid later?
I am immigrating to europe next year and would very much like to leave the US debt free. I have $47 thou in an IRA and $10 thou in debt. I will not be allowed to work for a year in my new residence country. IF I cash in the IRA how much is taken out up front and how much will I have to pay later?
Yes, I know this is a bad idea, but I feel strongly about being debt free and will have no income for a year.

7 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoAny good movies for somene spending Christmas Day alone?
My husband lives abroad and my immediate family celebrates on Christmas eve. Due to extended family situations, we won't be regathering for christmas day, any movie suggestions? I've already seen "It's a Wonderful Life" and "Miracle on 34th Street" this year. There are tons of 'dysfunctional' family films, are there any about 'good' families?

2 AnswersOther - Holidays1 decade agoDoes anyone have any constructive suggestions for a Christmas letter?
I too usually HATE, DETEST, AND ABHOR the 'annual' christmas letters recieved in the mail. However, this year I have an extraordinary story to tell. I met my husband online, we chatted for a year, met in person last Feb. and got married in October and I will be immigrating to Sweden next year. Now, if you do not have the background, I sound like a nut, yet I want people to have my new address, see a few pics, and know about the event. To write individual letters would take WAY to much time. I work about 60 hours a week and just can't do it. Any suggestions for making it cute and not tacky?

4 AnswersChristmas1 decade agoSearching for book on Family Advent Celebrations.?
HELP! I am searching for a book that was published prior to 1999/2000. It contained "family convocations" for each night and special Sunday night dinner highlighting a particular cultural tradition: i.e. French-for the creche, Spanish/Mexican food for La Posadas; Swedish, etc. It also had celebrations for St. Nicholas Day, Santa Lucia, Dec. 23 as well as of course Christmas. I am leaving the US next year and am praying to find another copy. I lost mine in 2001. It was purple with an advent wreath on the front and an unfortunately 'generic' advent title similar to the one above. I vaguely remember that it was written by a female with a hyphenated last name but could be wrong about that.
Also open to suggestions in how you make your Advent season meaningful.
Serious answers only. No sarcasm or anti christian sentiments, there are other places for that in answers.

I'm not a 'girly girl' and my new man really seems to like women in makeup with nails done. Is this typical?
10 AnswersMakeup1 decade agoAre there any anglicans using the Catholic Women's Devotional Bible (NRSV)?
Long story short: I am an American immigrating to Sweden and will be attending an English speaking Anglican church. I know they use NRSV. I am looking for 1) a study bible in NRSV including the apocrypha; 2) a 'women's bible' that focuses on relationships. Any suggestions? I am from a protestant/evanglical KJV/NKJV background. Much about Anglicanism and the church year is new to me.
1 AnswerReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoDoes anyone know of a Christian wedding song from the 70's or 80's called Woman/Man that I love?
There was a song sung at my wedding in 1990 but I think it was older. It had the woman singing to a man and the man singing to a woman. It was 'contemporary christian' to the time period but probably outdated now. If you were born before 1990, chances are you've never heard it. Ask your parents.
