  • Cat won t leave my side?

Let me just put this out there, my cat is not one for a lot of affection, either giving or receiving. With that said, I ve noticed that in the last couple days my cat has been overly affectionate. Wanting to be petted, be in my lap or laying on top of me, or spooning me under the covers. I ve had her for about 10 months now, spayed and microchipped within the first month of getting her. She s an american shorthair possibly about 6 or 7 years old and quite healthy other than some possible food allergies which I have recently changed to a duck based food per the vet recommendation. I did find out that I have a kidney stone last Friday and she has seen me in quite a bit of pain from it a couple times. It s been 5 days since then and she s been acting all kinds of lovey for about two. She s even been licking me a lot more than usual, which is quite rarely and it would only be one or two licks. Now its like she wants to clean me. Don t get me wrong, I love all the attention I m getting but I m just wondering why her attitude has changed suddenly. Could seeing me in such pain be causing her to worry that something really bad might happen so she wants to keep tabs on me? I m usually pretty good at figuring out why animals act the way they do but this has got me wondering whats up with her lately and if she ll stop once I pass this stone and start feeling better.

  • Moving out of my apartment?

So, yesterday my landlord saw that I have a cat in my apartment and told me I need to rehome her in the next few days or face eviction. There s a no pets policy and I ve kept her hidden for the last 5-6 months. I usually pay my rent a full semester in advance and I dont owe anything until may. I plan on giving him my 30 day notice once I know I have somewhere else to go. Evidently, my lease is also up in may. I ve already gotten the cat spayed, microchipped, and up to date on all her shots so clearly she s not going anywhere without me. My questions are, as a first time renter, do I have to stay the full 30 days after giving my notice or can I leave anytime after I tell him? There s a potential place that should be ready within a week. Does the landlord have to reimburse me the remainder of the rent money I already paid? When I was first moving in, he told me not to worry about putting down a security deposit, just the first months rent. Also, with there being a couple more months left on my lease, can I leave before it s up or do I have to wait? I m asking according to new York state laws. I haven t found anything helpful to my situation elsewhere online.

  • hunger pains after eating?

ever since I moved into my own place ive noticed that I get hunger pains in my stomach after I eat. its usually during the day but sometimes at night. ill eat to my fill in the morning, not overfilled, and within about 2-3 hours later I get strong hunger pain in my stomach like as if I havnt eaten anything all day. I am generally healthy altogether and it doesn't matter what I eat or when. I don't have any food allergies or stomach ulcers or issues going to the bathroom at all. I havnt introduced any new foods or drinks that ive never had before or had any significant changes in my diet either. ive been walking more now but I don't go more than a mile one way. when it happens at night I try to drink water to take the edge off so im not eating more at night which usually helps. its been going on for atleast a couple weeks or so. im not pregnant and im not due for my period either. and there are not any other symptoms that ive noticed other than the strong hunger pains. im 21 yrs old 5ft and 130-135 lbs. I don't take any pain killers for it nor do I take them a lot. usually for cramps or a migraine. does anybody know any reason as to why I get these hunger pains after I eat? I don't have them before I eat either.

  • emotional outburst after surgery?

friday afternoon i went to the oral surgeons office and had all of my wisdom teeth removed. everything went fine and it was a normal day before the surgery. as i was waking up from the anesthetics, i got very emotional and was crying for no reason. i just felt like crying for some reason. this is not the first time ive had surgery done and as i remember i was not emotional at all last time. and it was far more major surgery that i had undergone. i know that it is a common thing to be emotional after surgery. the odd thing is is that i was very aware of my surroundings and very clear minded at the time. i found that im not all loopy like most people are from anesthesia. i remember i was making the nurse laugh about taking the tape off my arm to take the IV out as well. its been a couple days an i have been resting up. well i was fine yesturday but this morning i woke up an again am feeling like an emotional train wreck for no apparent reason. i just feel like crying my eyes out just because. does anybody know why this happens and for how long it will last? and why did it happen with a general procedure and not with coming out of a major surgery? i felt very stupid and embarrassed in the recovery room over this as it is not how i normally am. i wanted to stop but i couldnt.

  • giant mutant bee type insect?

at my work the other day a co worker and i saw a huge bee type insect flying around one of the pools. it was roughly 3 inches in length (im not exxagerating at all) and had some greenish/turquoise coloring around the wings and on the thorax part of its body. its abdomen was quite large in comparison to regular bees and was like a whitish gray color (it was hard to tell). we watched it jab another insect (about the same size), pick it up, and go down under the concrete with it. there was a space where there was a wooden pole and the concrete ground im guessing that is where the nest was. it was near the edge of the pool. i have been looking up different types of bees and hornets with no luck and i do not have a picture to show.

does anybody know what type of bee/hornet/wasp type insect is? i am allergic to bee stings and would like to get some info on them if possible

  • possibility of pregnancy while on the pill?

i started taking birth control 23 days ago for the first time. i have taken all of the "active" pills and am on the 4th week "inactive" pills. i had uprotected sex with my boyfriend two days ago. i took the last "active" pill of the pack that morning and we had unprotected sex that afternoon. i believe should have started my period yesturday after taking the first "inactive" pill but did not. i am on day 2 of the "inactive" pills but did not take the pill this morning and i have not started myperiod yet. i read some of the info on the paper about the pills last night and now i have some doubts and uncertainty that i would like to have cleared up. since this was the first time having unprotected sex since i started on the bc (actually since my third miscarriage) and i took the last "active" pill on the 21st day, is it possible that i could still have concieved and am now pregnant? today was the first day i got morning sickness and felt like throwing up, but i feel like i am on the verge of getting my period as well so i am unsure of wherethe source of the way i am feeling is coming from since i was having some pms a couple days before i had sex. my doctor said to keep using condoms the first month but the paper says the first 7 days. there was a couple pills i did not take at exactly the right time but i did take them the same day and took the next one at the regular time the next day (this was in the first week and third week) so i never actually skipped days just didnt take them until later on in the day. also, is it normal to skip the first period when starting on birth control for the first time? i am going to take a home e.p.t. in a couple weeks and for now im not going to take any bc pills just in case i am.

  • my hens leg is hurt, how can i help her?

for about a week or two now one of my hens has been limping when she walks. she either fell or was pushed out of the coop by one of the others. she crash landed and hasnt been the same since. i brought her inside for a couple days so she wouldn'y aggravate the injury. well, she is ok when she slowly walks, but when she runs she starts limping heavily. it is her right leg. the coop is about 4 feet off the ground and none of the chickens have a problem geting up into it or out of it. she is almost a year old now btw. yesturday, i noticed that the joint looks like it popped out of the socket. she lets me move the leg, touch the joint/hip area, and manipulate it without a problem. she does put weight on it and it seems to only bother her when she runs. i have not seen her lay any eggs but im not sure if she still is. mating with the roosters doesn't seem to be a problem for her either (holding the weight of the rooster on her back). im not sure if it is popped out of the socket or just swollen so im not sure how to go about treating it. i have been putting her in a plastic dog kennel that is lower to the ground with my silkies so she doesnt hurt it further jumping out of the higher coop. it feels warmer to the touch than the other leg but i know it is because of the injury from the fall.

is there anything i can do at home for her to help the healing process. there are no avian vets near me and i dont have a vehicle in which to take her to one otherwise i would.

  • possible infertility problems?

i have had 2 miscarriages in a row, they happened within a month of each other and now i am having trouble getting pregnant again. i did not need a D&C for either one of them. my first one was at 5 weeks and my second one was at 2 weeks. both MC's had prolonged bleeding. im 20 yrs old and pretty healthy. i don't smoke, drink, do any drugs, im not on any medications for anything and ive never used birth control. i am slightly overweight (due to medications i took for depression when i was about 15) but have been losing weight healthily. my periods are irregular and always come with extremely painful cramping for the first 48 hrs. it used to be the first 24 hrs but is now the first 48. i am always moving and doing so im not just being lazy around the house all day. the last three to four times my husband and i had unprotected sex we were unsuccessful. im about ready to give up hope trying now. everything as far as i know is healthy and completely normal as far as my reproductive organs go. is it still possible that i may now be infertile due to the fact that both my miscarriages were so close together?

Also, my husband has a very high sperm count

  • am i going to lose him?

so me and my boyfriend have been together for 9 months now. i have not been myself for about a week now (i might be pregnant again) and i get so annoyed by him with everything he does or says so i just lose control and snap at him. last friday i asked his sister a hypothetical question because of a previous convo that i had with my mother that night. i asked his sister if he ever cheated on me and she knew about it would she tell me even if he said not to. it was not an accusation but just curiosity on my part. well she showed him and he got mad about it. he said i really hurt him and was really mad at me now. we have talked about it and i feel absolutely horrible and have said over and over again that i am sorry for hurting him. i love him to death, he is my whole world. he says he is still in love with me to. yesturday we decided to take a break for a couple weeks because he feels he needs time to be by himself. he promised me that i am not going to lose him but i feel like we are on the edge of breaking up and i don't want that. last night i said to him via text "i hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me" and his response to that was "me to" if i lose him i will lose everything worth living for. i have not been able to stop thinking about this and crying over how bad i feel. i want to just rip my heart out of my chest and stomp it into the ground because it is like i did that to him. the question was not meant to hurt him at all and i really regret it. we have such a great relationship together i don't want that to get thrown away over a mistake i made. i cant live without him in my life.

do you think he will be able to really forgive me over this and start with a clean slate or are am i going to lose him forever?

  • possible merricks disease or avian flu in sick laying hen?

today one of my laying hens is very sick and is not acting herself. she was perfectly fine yesturday happy, alert, and walking around with the others like normal. today i went out to clean the coops and she was just sitting inside the big coop in the back. she had her feathers all ruffled up and would not walk or stand up on her own. she had her toes curled up on her left foot but not her right. she leans to one side and is using her wings for support. she seems very tired and does not want to eat her layer pellets (Dumor layer pellets) and is drinking a lot of water. i also noticed that she is having trouble seeing in front of her, i say this because when she would go to peck at some yogurt i had or some fruit she would reach to far or miss it completely going towards the side of the food and water dish. her stool is very very watery and has a bad smell but it is not overwhelmingly strong. i brought her inside to warm up and to get her away from the rest of the flock in case it is contagious to the rest of them. she usually lays in the winter but the past couple days she has not layed any eggs at all. i have looked at different diseases in chickens and im not sure at what it could be. i was thinking either adult merricks disease or avian flu or she could have swalloed something that is making her sick. none of the other chickens are showing any symptoms of being sick or have any changes in their normal behavior. she is 1 1/2 yrs old and is free range. i am going to keep her in the house away from the others until she gets better. i would take her to the vet but i live with my parents and they wont let me take her because they see her as 'just a chicken' and not worth it. she is a pet and i would take her asap if i could but i am being held back from doing that. does anybody have any ideas as to what it could be that is making her sick and any advice as to what i can do at home to help her get better? i want only serious answers, no comments about killing and eating her because i will not do that.

  • possibly pregnant or pending period?

so my fiance and i had unprotected sex about a week ago and he came inside me. the same day i got the morning after pill and took it. i did not get my period at all last month (which for me is normal to skip a month and get it the next). i have been very snippy, sick like morning sickness, crampy, and acting very odd. its like i want to be alone but i don't want to be alone type of feelings. i have also been under a lot of stress lately because my family does not approve of our relationship so it has caused a lot of tension in the house around them (especially my father). i have gone 4 months without having a period due to stress before though (at that time i was a virgin). as of right now i am very unsure if i am actually experiencing early symptoms of pregnancy or just a pending period that is delayed this month. this would be my first pregnancy if i am indeed pregnant.

  • unformed chick outside of egg?

i have a new chick that is 22 days old today. she is not inside the egg anymore. one part of the egg is still attached to her rear end as it was not 100% formed and looked like it was coming out of her. i intervened with the hatching because i thought the chick died inside the egg and was going to get rid of it. when i opened the egg the chick was still alive. the chick was to big for the egg and couold not move inside of it. i put her in an incubator by herself with a bowl of water with a waterlogged sponge in it for humidity. my questions are:

    1. will the chick continue to grow and form completely with the last bit of shell still attached?

    2. does the incubator still need the water for the humidity now that the chick is no longer in the shell and is not surrounded by the membrane?

3.is there anything i can/should do to help the chances of survival better for the chick?

  • sudden death of new rooster?

ok so we got 7 more roosters from a lady who was moving. they are rhode island reds, about a year or so old. we have had them since sunday and today we moved them to a bigger enclosure. they were all fine together in the first enclosure we had them in but not 10 minutes after they were put in the bigger pen one of them died. we had just gone back into the house, got relaxed and my dad noticed the dead rooster. the windows were open and there was no screaming, he didn't get attacked by a hawk or other predator, no scuffling or fighting, nothing uncommon that would cause a sudden death. and he was walking around fine with the others and then before we knew it he was dead. i have heard that sudden unexplained deaths of chickens have happened and i was thinking that might be what happened but this is the first time that anything has ever happened like this to any of our chickens. not sure if his neck got broken some how or not. does any one know what could have happened that may have caused this sudden death?

  • 3 week old chicks male or female?

i have 6 3 week old bantam chicks and are supposed to be all female. im starting to doubt two of them are because of how aggressive they have been being with each other the past 2-3 days. i know they are figuring out the pecking order and that females do it to but not to the point of badly hurting each other. their combs are a growing a bit faster than the rest but are the same color as the rest, and they are the biggest chicks. they do stand up to the other chicks but don't fight. do females sometimes act so aggressively to each other as well as males when figuring out the pecking order? also, do i have two more roosters?

  • my fertile egg shell is slightly crushed?

one of my english silkie bantam hens layed an egg that is fertile. i have been letting her sit on it so she can hatch it naturally. at night i put her in a seperate coop with the egg. as i was in the process of moving the egg from the nesting spot to the coop with the mother hen, i accidently crushed the shell on one side. i don't think i broke the membrane under the shell but i'm afraid that i might have just ruined the chances of the chick fetus surviving. i would like to know if the fetus will still grow normally into a chick if the membrane under the shell is not damaged. it was raining hard and i didn't want the egg to get wet so i was hurrying.
