  • Refrigerator not cold enough?

My five year old son started messing with the refrigerator controls on our Kenmore Coldspot Model 106 the other day and turned it off. After turning the refrigerator back on, I noticed that it was not cooling properly. Both the freezer and refrigerator are only reaching barely acceptable temps (30 and 40 degrees respectfully). Since the incident, I have not heard the compressor turn on but can only assume that since the refrigerator is, in fact, cooling that it must be working to some extent. The blower fans do turn on periodically as they normally would. I am worried that the compressor might be going out, and I have been wanting to replace my decade plus old Coldspot but I can not afford to do so at this time. I have checked the heat exchanger on the back, and the cooling manifold inside for dust/frost as well as dusting the compressor equipment. As far as I can tell, this hasn't really helped. Any ideas or suggestions? The model information is Kenmore Coldspot Model: 106.8648611 Serial: E43132033 and is the freezer on top configuration.

  • How to hook Shure 55SH series 2 mic to a computer?

The mic uses the standard male XLR connector . I would like to use the mic with a computer through the microphone jack. I have an XLR-to-mini jack cable. My problem is that the mic registers on the computer but only barely. I was wondering if I also need to use an in-line XLR amplifier or some other power source to boost the signal or if I am on the wrong track altogether. I don't have a standard amplifier and I am not looking to buy one. I was kind of wondering if either of these products below would work:

Thanks for any help or suggestions you could give me.

  • My HDMI makes movies look like St. Patrick's Day?

I play movies on my HDTV using my laptop via an HDMI cable. Recently, small details such as white trim or white shading appears green. For example, in Sherlock Holmes (2009), the opening scene of the carriage moving through the streets, the specks of white in the pavement and the white window frames on the buildings appear green. The ornate carvings on the white pillars also appear green but not the pillars themselves. I have tested the cable on another device and there is no problem. I have been told that the port on my computer may be dirty or that my the port's driver may be out of date. Any ideas on the cause and or solution?

  • How to fend off cockroaches?

I live in a dorm where two rooms share one bathroom which is in between them. The two guys in the other room keep their room very messy and cluttered. My college sprays the dorm rooms regularly to keep out pests. However, while I was using the bathroom, not one but two cockroaches came out from their door and then went back under into their room. Is there anything I can put along the edge of my door in order to keep any cockroaches from coming into me and my roommate's room? I have already put in a complaint, but I am looking for a short-term solution until the residential life office can take care of the problem.

  • Is it possible to run a 32-bit program on 64-bit Windows 7?

I have a really old program that I have used on a laptop running Windows 7(I don't remember whether it was 64 or 32 bit), however my desktop is running 64-bit 7 and I get an error saying there is a compatability issue. The game is called SimFarm and as to the age I have no idea but let me put it this way, the game is installed from two FLOPPY discs, so Im thinking early 90's.

  • Is it possible to use a 6V dc motor with 12V dc power supply?

Need to replace a cheap Chinese motor in a small appliance. Power supply is 12V dc, is there any way to step down the voltage with resistors? The motor has to fit into a small confined space, so a transformer is out of the question.

  • Is it possible to run audio from a headphone jack straight into a microphone jack using a fem/fem cable?

I want to record audio from a radio straight to mp3 using my computer. I can't afford the exterior converter boxes. What I do have are several female-to-female minijack cables. Do the jacks work on the same general principle or are some modifications in order? I also have unwired female and male jacks.
