potatoes with roast in crock pot?
I have a sirloin roast in a crock pot with onions and potatoes. I have the onions cooking on a thin bed of olive oil, then the roast (there are 2 small 1.5lb roasts) I have a can of beef broth and a cup of water w/ bullion cube over the roast.
My question is about the red potatoes - I want to cook them with the roast, but I really only have room on top of the roast the the moment, but most are not submersed in liquid. is this ok? will they just steam cook fine? Or should I move the roast on top of the potatoes and add more liquid?
Please and thank you.

I was hired to photographically document a burial ceremony. I have a few ideas, but this is a new one for me. Any tips? Recommended shots?
Thanks in advance.
4 AnswersPhotography1 decade agoNormal for a dog to refuse dry food? Homemade dog recipes?
I started my dog on a kibble dry food diet and she was fine on that for the first few months we had her but for the last couple months, she has really been turning her nose up at it. She eats eventually, but is hesitant. So we switched her to wet food and a mix home homemade food and she seems much happier. Is this normal for a dog to reject dry food? Any good simple healthy recipes for dogs?
She's an Akita mix, and she's 14mos.
6 AnswersDogs1 decade agolooking for a good genealogy site?
Where I can track beyond my grandparents history for free. I can search Google, and while my last name isn't terribly common, we're certainly not the only ones, and being able to track a single line would be useful. I tried ancestry.com and made a family tree, but I can't track beyond what I know without paying a fee. Anyone have any suggestions for a site to use?
3 AnswersGenealogy1 decade agoLooking for an easy but tasty and somewhat healthy menu for the week...?
Looking for some simple recipes to make when i get home from work. My husband and I both work from 8am to 5pm, so we never want to cook. I'm a pretty good good, just lazy after work. Any ideas outside of anything frozen that would be an easy 20 minute meal? Recipes appreciated.
I have chicken, burger, pork chops, and pork sausage, but if I can get some ideas by the morning, I'll add anything new to my grocery list.
Thanks in advance.
2 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoWhat kind of dog is this?
She's a mutt. I know.
But I'm curious what others think she is mixed with. They vet told me she is mostly Akita. I'm guessing yellow lab and maybe some GSD? Any ideas?

9 AnswersDogs1 decade agoDo you accidentally static shock your dog from time to time?
My dog will be playing on the floor, build up static electricity, then come cuddle on the couch and I'll go to pet her between the ears and it shocks her. Just wondering if anyone else has this issue. Do you think it bothers them? Any suggestions on how to prevent it?
~Please, nothing about using collars, that's not at all what I'm talking about.
5 AnswersDogs1 decade agoLazy chihuahua with active Akita. Playtime and general habits questions...?
My husband and I rescued an Akita mix (Jasmine) few months ago - she's now 14mos old. A month ago, my sister-in-law moved in with us and brought her 2 year old chi (Thor). After a week, Jasmine was used to Thor and was ready to play. But Thor has never gotten used to Jasmine.
A couple weeks ago I asked a question about their playing - she pokes and prods him with her nose and he bites her lip and lunges at her, and backs himself into a corner. She'll lift a paw to him, and not touch him and he'll bark/yelp. Is he scared? Trying to get her in trouble? Just talking?
She also watches him every time he moves - which is very rare. He'll move from his cage to the couch and back to his cage - it's about 5 feet. He'll run to the kitchen if he thinks he'll get a treat. If he moves out of her sight, she chases him to see where he's going (that's a bit troubling as it's almost a giant bound, regardless of what-else she was doing). Is she trying to initiate play? She'll play anytime - wake her up at 3am with a squeaky toy and she'll chase it. Or is she being dominant? I can't seem to get her to leave him alone (even if that's just not staring at him) when he's up and about for more then a few seconds.
When they do "play", she's so gentle with him considering her size and clumsiness. She rarely touches him and is very careful not to hurt him. the other day, they each had one end of a rope toy (Jasmine is always dropping her toys at Thor's feet - he never takes it without our convincing) but they each had one end, and Jasmine was tugging just enough to put up a fight for Thor, but not enough to even pull him off the couch. Good dog!
Thor is also very lazy - sleeping 20+ hours a day - regardless of what we're up to. Is this normal Chi behavior? Or should we be worried?
Any tips or suggestions on how to get him acclimated to her, or ideas on what to do about playtime, her watching his every move, or just anything at all is so appreciated. Thanks!
3 AnswersDogs1 decade agoAkita thinks Chihuahua's nips and snarls are an invitation to play. Help!?
Jasmine is a large Akita mix breed while Thor is my sister's smaller Chi mix who just moved in with us. While Jasmine loves having another dog in the house -and someone else to throw a toy every once in a while, she's not very well socialized and when it comes to playtime, she's not so great at evaluating Thor's reactions to her advances. Thor was terrified of her size for a month. Now, they can cuddle together, and they've even played together a few times, but Jasmine has WAY more energy then Thor - he's mostly happy with looooong naps, and his human cuddles.
But when he's up and moving, Jasmine invites him to play by licking his face and poking his side with her nose. Thor ends up snarling at her and showing teeth. Jasmine left him alone after that for a bit, but now she thinks that's just his way of playing back. So she has started opening her mouth and poking him. She has never bit him, but he's now retaliating with a fairly gentle nip- usually on her face or her legs. We scold him, and tell her to leave him alone, but she really thinks this is his way of playing with her! I'm worried he's going to really bite her hard, and she'll bite back and he'll (or she'll) get really hurt. In attempt to avoid a fight, how can i teach Jasmine that this is not his way of inviting play (or is it?) And helping Thor learn that she's not going to hurt him if he just plays along.
