  • The mole and avogadro's number...?

There are a few questions that i am not sure the information needed to answer them.

I'd appreciate help and assistance to the answers of the following questions:

    1) The definition of the mole involves both a mass and a number. Justify this statement.

    2) Identify the mass of one mole of water and calculate the total number of atoms in this mass.

    3) All compounds can have an empirical formula but only molecular compounds can have a molecular formula. Justify the statement.

    4) The empirical formula of a compound is CH2, while the molecular mass is 56. Calculate the molecular formula of the compound.

    5) Identify a compound which has the same empirical formula and molecular formula.

    6) The compound ethanol is made of molecules containing 2 carbon atoms, 6 hydrogen atoms and 1 oxygen atoms. Identify the molecular formula of ethanol.

    7) Identify the empirical formula of ethanol.

    Thanks in advance

  • what does the dialysis bag experiment demonstrate?

    Two separate experiments were conducted.

    First experiment:

    - one dialysis bag contains starch solution and was immersed in a beaker that has water and iodine solution. The other dialysis bag contains glucose and was immersed in water.

So, what process (osmosis or diffusion) in each beaker was taking place? And what is actually happening ?

    Second experiment:

    - one dialysis bag contains glucose solution and was immersed in water. The other dialysis bag contains water and was also immersed in a beaker containing water.

What is happening in each beaker? Processes occurring in each ?i.e. diffusion or osmosis
