  • hi8 camera conundrum?

    Hello all,

I've been trying to convert my hi8 tapes to digital for sometime. The camera I bought is a Sony SCL700 Camcorder. I was led to believe I could play the tapes off of it and convert it to the computer using a Canopus digital converter box.

After spending $600 on the setup I discovered my camera won't play my tapes. The tapes are hi8 mp. To add insult to injury, the few hi8 mp tapes that were included in the box by the person who sold it to me work perfectly.

    Any thoughts / suggestions?

  • What if something has always existed and nothing never was?

People seem to be stuck on the idea that reality needed a beginning... but is it illogical to consider that there was no beginning? That there's always been something instead of nothing?

  • Why weren't all the Angels tainted with original sin?

The angels were given free will before man, of that we can all agree. However, it seems like humanity got a raw deal, when you consider how lenient God was with his angels. You'd think Lucifer's rebellion would have damned them all, like Eve's did Mankind. It didn't though. Why?

  • If Man succeeds in creating Artificial Intelligence...?

Would you support them being our replacements on the planet? If they're superior to us in every way, wouldn't it be best for humanity to just bow out peacefully?

  • Give me your advice on this lil' poem please?

I’m so tired of the perfect and beautiful

    Give me something with teeth

Lead me down to the dirt and squalor

Teach me how to be less than me

Take me somewhere my dreams won’t follow

I want no expectations. No guiding Light.

I want my life, my soul to be hollow

I want no reservations. Nothing to fight.

Live to live. Die to live.

Girls like you do it right.

I am so tired; please let me follow

    You into this silken night.

  • Free Will: What's the big deal?

I've always been led to believe Man was the first creation with free will and it was God's greatest gift.

However, God gave the angels free will also. Satan CHOSE to rebel against God. He had free will. Now, by God's logic that would taint all the angels with sin and they would all have to be punished. However, he only punished the ones that had a part in the rebellion.

...so it seems to me humanity isn't that special to God at all. Not only were we not the ones given free will first, but we were also given a much harsher punishment for sin.

  • My Poem: "Thank the Dark"?

    Red tendrils, thick,

    Circle the drain

    Running water, cool

    Drenches like rain

    Cleansing him

    Of his crimes.

    His eyes, blank

    Stare at the wall

    His skin, light

    Starts to crawl

    In pleasure

    Of what he’s done

    “My name is no one,”

    He thinks, to himself

“I was raised in the shadows,

    and born from Hell.”

    His smile is wide

    But wooden

Muscles, silken, had carried him far

    As they did, every time

    Fast, so fast,

    Away from the crime

    And once alone

    He had thanked the dark

  • I always have VIOLENT dreams?

I'm a very well adjusted person, but my dreams almost always involve violence toward someone I know, a stranger, or a celebrity. (Like Zach Braff or Kareem Abdul Jabaar) Sometimes I'm just watching, but in other instances I actually participate in the violence.

  • Who else loves this Poem?

Traveling through the dark I found a deer

dead on the edge of the Wilson River road.

It is usually best to roll them into the canyon:

that road is narrow; to swerve might make more dead.

By glow of the tail-light I stumbled back of the car

    and stood by the heap, a doe, a recent killing;

she had stiffened already, almost cold.

I dragged her off; she was large in the belly.

My fingers touching her side brought me the reason—

her side was warm; her fawn lay there waiting,

alive, still, never to be born.

Beside that mountain road I hesitated.

    The car aimed ahead its lowered parking lights;

under the hood purred the steady engine.

    I stood in the glare of the warm exhaust turning red;

around our group I could hear the wilderness listen.

I thought hard for us all—my only swerving—,

then pushed her over the edge into the river.

Would the areas in and around major cities more rainy? Will New York become the rainiest city in America? All that extra water vapor will have to go somewhere.

  • What does this say to you?

I like this, but does anyone else? Give me your thoughts.

    Muscles, silken,

    as you run

    the road, stretching,

    weaving, kissing the horizon

    A dull hum of insects

    croaks of frogs

    An ageless chorus

    beneath the stars

    and, as part of it,

    you thank the dark

  • Do GB fans feel betrayed by Favre?

He is the face of your organization, and now he's going to attempt to leave for somewhere else. What's your feelings on this?

Personally I think he should stay retired. This fiasco is getting a little idiotic.

  • Do you find this movie scene scary/creepy?

    INT. A COUPLE'S HOUSE -- NIGHT

TOM sits on a couch stroking their black housecat. It is purring softly. TINA, Tom's wife, walks into the room. They are both twentyish.

(Brief dialogue scene here...it's too long to actually write)

There is a pause in the conversation. Suddenly, a cat that appears to be the exact duplicate of the cat in Tom's arms walks into the room. This is their REAL cat. The couple stare at it blankly, and then the cat Tom is petting springs from his grasp, and runs shrieking from the room on its hind legs.

    Creepy?

  • What are the legal aspects of book-to-film adaptation?

I'm considering writing a script based on a good book I read. I'm wondering how I can go about this without infringing on the law. Is simply writing "based upon ____ by _____" enough to write it? If not, (and I'm pretty sure it isn't) what else is required? Thank you
