  • How would you play this hand (part 3 of 3)?

    You're in a live, community-sponsored MTT with a $75 buy-in, starting with 3000, ~70 people.

Blinds are up to 100/200, just under 50 people are still in, pays to 8. 9 players at your table. Tournament chip leader is over 12000.

Your table image is semi-aggressive. Table's been generally quiet, with a healthy mix of raising and calling, most hands seeing a raise preflop, most not seeing the river. There hasn't been much all-in activity, other than Seat 1 just taking a hit last hand for most of his chips to Seat 9, who used to be the short stack.

You get dealt JcJs UTG, and you bet 800.

    Relevant stacks …

    You (UTG) – 3900 … Bet 800

    Seat 7 – 8100 … Calls 800

    Seat 1 (SB) – 625 … Calls all-in

    Seat 2 (BB) – 2600 … Calls 800

    Flop is 10h Qs 7h.

Main pot is 2500, side pot is 525

BB checks. You check. Seat 7 checks.

    Turn is 3d

BB checks. You check. Seat 7 checks.

    River is Jd

    BB checks. You check.

    Seat 7 bets 1100.

    BB folds.

Your table image is aggressive, but not too loose; you still fold more than you play, but not by a lot. There hasn't been much all-in activity, other than Seat 1 just taking a hit last hand for most of his chips to Seat 9, who used to be the short stack.

The chip count at your table is approximately:

    Seat 1 (SB) - 625

    Seat 2 (BB) - 2600

    You (UTG) - 3900

    Seat 4 - 1800

    Seat 5 - 2100

    Seat 6 - 1000

    Seat 7 - 8100

    Seat 8 - 6300

    Seat 9 (D) - 3400

You get dealt a JJ, and you're first to act.

  • Should I fold, raise or call?

This hand is simple, but was difficult at the time.

    $240 tournament with 180 players.

    $4K in chips to start.

    Down to 100-110 players.

    Blinds are 200/400

I'm in the BB with almost 10K in chips, table chip leader but not in the top 10 in the tourney. The table's been semi-aggressive, but I don't have a specific read on any individual players (only about 40 hands at this table since I was moved here.)

    Seat 4 - limps in

    Seat 6 - Calls

    Dealer - Calls

    SB - Calls

    BB(me with Qs7s) - Checks

    Pot is now $2000

    Flop is K64, all spades.

SB checked, I decided to c/r

Seat 4 (with a stack of around 5K) bets 1,500

Seat 6 (with a stack of around 7K) raises to 3,000

    D and SB both folded.

At this point it looks like Seat 4 has a hand, and Seat 6 has effectively commited himself to the hand.

  • Does anyone have problems with poker sites' refer-a-friend programs?

My brother referred me to Carbon Poker, and I signed up and earned the 250 points to qualify us both for the bonuses.

Now Carbon is saying that I can't get the bonus, because the software was loaded on his PC once BEFORE I referred him, even though there was never an account created.

As you can imagine, the reason the software was on there was because he wanted to TRY IT OUT!!!

As you can also imagine, we checked with Carbon in advance, and they said "delete the software before you reload it", which we did.

As you can ALSO imagine, the site said he was referred, allowed everything to work, and even TRACKED ALL HIS POINTS for me. They only 'red-flagged' it AFTER he had earned the bonus, and it was time to pay up.

So am I a voice, crying out in the wilderness, or is this a problem on other sites?

  • As a Christian, is it inconsistent to support the death penalty and oppose abortion?

There are a number of applicable passages in the Bible, as well as a number of additional sources in the various Christian faiths.

The two most significant points as relates to this issue are that we are not to kill, and we are not to judge others (or perhaps it would be more accurate to say that we are not to judge others vengefully.)

So can we justify ending a 'guilty' life, while protecting an 'innocent' one?
