  • Confused about tax credits??!!!?

My husband works full time and Im a stay at home mum. We are currently getting the minimum amount of tax credits. I am going back to work soon and I went onto their website to get an estimate to see what would happen to our tax credits.

When I put in the details of my husbands and my new work the amount we would get a year went up by about £1800. I thought no that cant be right so I went back to the start and put in my husbands hours and me not working and it came back correct to what we're getting now???

The increase wasn't to childcare as we don't qualify for help with childcare costs, it said the actual working element would go up.

My question is... how does this work? Is it right? Will we actually get more when I am working too? This tax credits thing is SO confusing.

  • Help re my daughters got swine flu!?

My daughter has been diagnosed with "at risk of swine flu" and been prescribed Tamiflu for the next five days. Apparently they are not swabbing anymore and because she fits all the criteria she is automatically prescribed the antivirals no tests needed.

She started getting ill last sunday and saw the doctor on monday who said it was just a virus. 5 days of over 39 degree temps later with all the other symptoms of swine flu we called NHS direct.

They said to call the GP who gave us a late appointment. When we got there the GP was concerned that he couldnt make a diagnosis, he talked to the senior doctor who told him to call the hospital.

The hospital wanted to see us straight away so we went in. After being walked right through the ward we were put in a room and everytime someone came in they had masks, gloves, overalls on. They examined her and couldnt find the sorce of the temps. so they took a wee sample for the microbiologist and after consulting with other dr's they diagnosed "at risk from swine flu" prescribed antivirals and sent us home with the advise to stay away from large groups of people untill she stops showing symptoms.

My question is, does this mean they think she has swine flu? should we be working on the basis that she has? And if she has we may have infected loads of people by being in the hospital/doctors and a whole 5 days of carrying on normal life (we even went to play group!) Should I keep my older child out of school even though she is well??

Any drs advice would be great!

she is only a toddler and has been really poorly but since taking the tami flu her symptoms are much reduced.

    Any advice appreciated.

  • Is anyone looking to re home their chocolate lab?

I'm looking to give a home to a choclate lab, was wondering if anyone was looking to home one. We want to rehome rather than buy a puppy, not due to the price but due to the amount of dogs being rehomed due to the credit crunch!

Fab home near the sea awaits the new arrival!

  • Does anybody Remember this sewing kit?? ?

When I was a baby (I was born in 1982) my mum made me a stuffed rabbit from a kit she bought at a craft shop. I lost him when I was moving once and now my mum is desperate to make another ( I have two young girls now) So does anyone remember him and know where I can get another kit?

    He was:

Large (about the size of a football)

Consisted of two circles, one for the head and one for the body.

    Had ears attached

The fabric was a steely light blue colour with details printed on.

He had a printed on wastecoat and arms, and tail.

Did any of you have one of these bunnys and know who made the kits?

  • How to make my breakfast bar? DIY querie!?

I need to make a breakfast bar for my kitchen. i want to attach it to the wall above my radiator and have it folded up against the wall when i'm not using it, however I want to hide the legs behind it when its not in use so i can only see the top of the bar when its folded up.

I thought of using some sort of rotating fixing against the wall so i could literally pull it down and flip it over before unfolding the legs but am not sure if such fixings exsist?

any design ideas anyone? I dont want to buy one ready made unless it does everything i want as i HAVE to fold it away when not in use!!

  • Why is the bcklight not working on my laptop?

hi there, I have an acer aspire 1690 laptop. I have a line down the screen so took it to a friend who checked it and said i needed a anew screen, when i got it back from him the backlight was no longer working either. I bought a new screen thinking it would solve both problems but the backlight STILL isn't working. Is it my new screen as well that has a problem or could it be elsewhere that needs fixing now?
