  • why is my 1 yo 7 month daughter drinking so much at night?

She drinks a lot during the day, but i have put it off to being hot and humid and where she is up running around all the time. She has done it at night for a couple months now and it is getting really bad now. No one can sleep because she is up atleast every hour on the hour if not more screaming and crying for something anything to drink. We always have given the kids a glass of milk before bed and then they got one in the morning when they woke up. At first we thought it was a habit so the last couple nights we have just tried to soothe her back to sleep trying to break the habit. It didn't work and last night was miserable for her and us as well. She was up every 45 minutes needing something to drink. Has anyone else had this problem with their child? If so, what did you do? I was thinking about making an appointment for her but wasn't sure what to expect out of it...i brought it up at last one and they ignored the question even though i asked multiple times. Any advice would be great. Thanks in advance.

  • HELP! My dog has parvo! Couple questions?

My dog was diagnosed today with parvo. She is only 6 weeks old and we are doing home IV drips three times a day. We are feeding her only gatorade every hour to every two hours. She has bloody watery stool and is weak, but is not throwing up. We are also giving her antibiotics.

We have only had her for 3 days (today), but have already fallen in love with her. Her temp was 103.5 today.

I just have a couple questions about parvo:

1: What is the chance she will survive this?

2: What are the signs of improvement?

3: What else can I do to make sure she makes it?

4: what steps do I need to take to make sure she does not get it again once she is better?

5: What is the cleaning requirements to prevent the spreading of Parvo to other dogs?

  • Help! Our new puppy has diarrhea!?

Okay, so we just bought our first puppy. A full blooded chocolate lab. She is 6 weeks old today and we just picked her up yesterday. She has diarrhea since we got home with her, with the exception of her first bowl movement. We can not get into the vet any time soon since we are new patients and dont have many vets where we are located and I just wanted to get some advice. We feed her 2 times a day...once in the morning and once at night and the total amount of dog food is about 1/2 a cup a day. We also are giving her half a tablet of dog vitamin that the breeder suggested. We leave her water out for her to drink on up until after 8pm and we give her a treat one a day. We did have to drive almost 4 hours to get her, so I dont know if it is where she rode for the 4 hours in the car or if it is where she is adjusting to her new home without her mother and father. I am trying to find a vet to get her into but I want to know if this is something I can treat before taking her to the vet. She has been dewormed and she has had her first set of shots.

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you,

  • Is this normal after having ears pierced?

We had our daughters ears pierced last week exactly. She is 9 months old and we are cleaning them with salt water mixture and the ear cleaning solution that came with the ear rings. We clean them 2 times a day and turn them 2 times a day. They are still a little red and one has some discharge on the backing of the earring, it is not much but it is not hardened either. Is this normal? Is there anything else I should do to help them not get infected?

  • Is it normal to bleed this long after starting birth control?

Okay, so Tuesday of last week I started a new birth control pill for my irregular period I have experienced since my second child. On Tuesday, I started my pills since that was the last day of my period (which lasted for almost 2 weeks). I have been bleeding ever since. I will stop and then it just randomly starts back, but I have not stopped for a whole day yet.

    Is this normal?

How long should I expect this to continue?

BTW: I had my second child 6 months ago, so periods should be regulated by now atleast they were with my first child.

Thanks in advance for your help!

  • Is there anything you can do to increase your milk supply?

I had to stop breastfeeding for 8 days due to an inner ear infection and the medicine I was on passed through the milk and was potentially harmful to infants. I tried to pump but I have a 21 month old and couldnt stay on the routine while being dizzy and passing out due to the medicine. I am now off the medicine and have tried to pump, but I am not getting anything. Maybe just a drop or two, but that is it.

Is there anything that I can do to make my milk come back in? I can not afford formula and I can't get any help from the government because I make 60 dollars over the limit for help.

Also, while I was off from breastfeeding, I treated myself for a yeast infection on the nipples. My daughter had one and was treated with an anti-fungal medicine. The dr. told me to treat nipples as well. Her yeast infection cleared up and then when I started to breastfeed her again...to help increase supply....she got the yeast infection again. I treated for two weeks while on med. and then when I stopped nursing her because I couldn't get any milk and she was starving and crying horribly because she was still hungy...the yeast infection went away again.

Should I just start pumping (assuming I can get my milk back in) and bottle feeding her or is there something else that I can do to get rid of the yeast infection on my nipples...I have tried everything...home remedies, dr.s advice, med...everything.

BTW: the med. I was on also decreased supply of milk it said so on bottle, but had to have it. Is it more likely than not that I won't get it back in?

  • ANOTHER BREASTFEEDING QUESTION?

I was put on some medicine to treat an inner ear infection. I am not allowed to breastfeed while taking the medicine. I am on the medicine for 8 days and then allowed to breastfeed again after 24 hours after the last pill. I am supplementing her with formula and one bag of frozen breastmilk a day due to me only having enough frozen milk for her to last that long.

I don't have much energy since I stay dizzy from the inner ear infection. I am only pumping 3 times a day if possible. I am caring for both my children with out much help so when I have down time I am catching up on my sleep and the medicine makes me drowsy.

Anyways, will my milk dry up from this? I do want to continue breastfeeding, but they can't put me on any other meds. b/c I am allergic to it.

Oh, one more question: My daughter is almost 3 months old and is exclusively breastfeed (with this exception of the med.) her stool is still runny and yellowish-green. She has a BM at every diaper change. Is this normal for breastfeed children?

  • Asked in other category...no answers...trying this category now.?

I posted in another category the following question and haven't had much luck...figured I'd try this one:

How do you get rid of an ingrown toenail?

Is there a way to make them grow thinner?

*I had an ingrown toenail while I was pregnant. I left it alone hoping it would grow out, but I ended up having to cut it out b/c it got infected and had pus in it. Now, I keep getting them in the same spot in the outside corner of my big toe on both feet. I have to keep cutting them out.

  • Is it okay to take this while breastfeeding?

I have a sore throat, cough, fever, and my body aches. I called my pediadtricain and she said to take regular tylenol, regular robitussin (sp?), and to gargle salt water. I have been doing so, but since I have been taking it, my 2 month old daughter has been sleeping alot and throwing up. My 20 month old son just got over a stomach bug and was throwing up, but we sanitized and everything. I am still nursing her up to the breast even though I am sick...dr. said it was okay. I have been sick for a little over a week now and am slowly getting better. I was wondering if it is the medicine doing this to her or is she getting sick? Should I stop taking the robitussin or just continue to take it?

BTW: She won't eat often either where she has a belly ache. She was eating every 2 hours, but now I am lucky to get her to eat 5 times a day...this has only been going on since yesterday. I try to put her on the breast as often as I can, but she won't take it...will my milk dry up? Should I be concerned about this? Should I be pumping to keep up my milk supply or just wait until she is ready to eat?

    Sorry so long.

  • Do you think my daughter is too big for her age?

My daughter had her 2 month old well-baby check up today. She weights 12 pounds 13 ounces and is 22 1/2 inches long. The doctor said she was in the 90 percentile in weight and 50 percentile in length. He made the comment: "You should watch feeding her so much". She is breastfeed and eats about every 2 hours for 10-15 minutes on each breast.

Do you think she is too big for her age? How big was your baby around this age? Should I cut back on feeding her?

BTW: She has gained a pound a week since she was about 3 weeks old.

  • where do you find legitimate websites for freebies?

So, I have read a post asking for websites of where to find free samples and freebies. However, I have looked at some of those like the Johnson & Johnson parent kit and the beechnut parent kit...which is a phone number to call and they don't seem legitimate to me...how do you know if they are and which ones actually send you the stuff?
