  • Atheists - how can you account for logic and morailty?

ATHEISTS - Considering that these two laws are said to exist, yet are not material, how can you in your worldview account for them, let alone believe in them?

(example: If Hitler as an Atheist was raised to believe it was moral and right to do what he did in order to fulfill his belief in the survival of the fittest theory - then is what he did by following through with it, evil or morally wrong?

If you say that Hitler was wrong, please explain - with facts is possible - without opinions please, as to how you KNOW he was actually wrong.

If Hitler did an acceptable thing, then please explain how Atheism is a safe alternative to Theism for our society.

Do you base your morality and ethic on what you were taught growing up, or do you believe that morals and ethics come from an absolute source? (meaning: Do you believe that morals actually exist, or are they merely opinions from people through time?)

If you do not believe that they originate from an absolute, you cannot believe there a such thing as good and evil.. right? as believing in such a thing would be in violation of believing in something with no evidence - You cannot account for it, right? If you think you can, please explain.

If you do believe that good and evil exist, then by what authority do you have this knowledge, and are you sure that the source is correct? Additionally, if this source is not the absolute for the law, then it is merely relative and subjective - which is nothing more than an opinion. - does me no good.

** Can you KNOW ANYTHING without a first UN-caused cause/absolute/truth/fact? I bet you think you KNOW things, but how can you account for what you claim beyond yourself? Are you sure you can even trust your own mind/mental state?

    My Conclusion:

Without God as the absolute for all knowledge and truth, we cannot make a single claim of knowledge. Do you get this? If you do make a claim to KNOW something, you must account for it - and that account MUST be an absolute source. If it is not, it remains relative and is not a knowledge claim, but an opinion.

Yet, we KNOW things, don't we? will 2+2 always = 4?

I can tell you that evil and good DO exist, and I KNOW these things because the absolute of all knowledge has revealed that to me (and you, though you do not believe), and he also enabled me (& you) to understand.

Please remember when answering these questions (not a dichotomy btw), that nobody will take you seriously if all you have to offer is your opinion. Please provide me with facts. Thank you.

  • TRUE CHRISTIANS-GOD & COSMETIC SURGERY, WHAT DO YOU THINK?

QUITE SOME TIME AGO MY HUSBAND AND I DECIDED I WOULD GET A MOMMY MAKEOVER AFTER WE WERE DONE HAVING BABIES - TO SOMEWHAT GIVE ME BACK A BODY THAT ISN'T SO BEAT UP FROM PREGNANCY -

WE ARE AT THIS ROAD NOW, AND HAVE EVEN PAID FOR THE PROCEDURES AND SET A DATE. THIS HAS BEEN VERY EXCITING FOR THE BOTH OF US. BUT, I ALSO FACE ANOTHER SIDE TO ALL OF THIS THAT WEIGHS HEAVY ON ME.

I HAVE GIVEN MY LIFE TO GOD. I HAVE SURRENDERED TO DO HIS WILL FOR MY LIFE, AND I HAVE PLACED ALL TRUST INTO HIS HANDS. HERE I AM NOW CONTEMPLATING IF GOD WOULD WILL THIS FOR US.. IS THIS JUST ME BEING SELFISH - WANTING TO PLEASE MY FLESHLY DESIRES, AND STEPPING OUT OF THE WILL OF GOD? OR, COULD THIS BE A PART OF HIS WILL IN MY LIFE?

THIS HAS BEEN MY PRAYER NOW SINCE I PLACED THE SURGERY DATE IN THE BOOKS.

HAVE ANY OF YOU EVER DONE SOMETHING, OR WANTED TO DO SOMETHING AND WONDERED THIS?

  • Any Calvinists out there?

Please share what you believe. I am doing study on this topic of Free Will, and would like to hear it from the Calvinists themselves. Could you please give me some good evidence for your claims?

Below I have shared some of my beliefs on the topic.

I believe that God created us, and that he created us with Free will. I believe that his created divine messengers have free will as well. This can explain why some of them opposed God.

Furthermore, I believe that God loves his creation, so in order for him to truly love us, we would need to have this freedom in order to choose to love him back. If we do not have this freedom, but are instead forced to love him, then could we say that his love is true? Where is the grace in that?

If free will does not exist, then why did Jesus have to die?

Oh, and Jesus made it pretty clear that man had free will when he made statements like this:

John 5:30 I cannot do anything of my own will, but according to that which I have heard, I judge, and my judgment is just, for I am not seeking my will, but the will of him who has sent Me.

    (as opposed to ordinary men?)

Luke 22:42 "Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done."

John 6:38 For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me.

These scriptures show us that man has his own will. Jesus of course was sent with the will of God within him (being God himself). Man seeks his own will, and God gives them this choice. This is the other reason why God had to die..because man has his own will and agenda. Only God can fulfill the perfect laws he created.. Man or any created being could not ever fulfill this requirement.

If we understand some of the nature of God we can see that God is inside and outside of time, space and matter, and therefore can have a predestined plan with freewill within it.

The father is the nature God outside of Time, space and matter, while Jesus is the Nature god within Time, space and matter. God is everywhere, at all times. He is not subject, but at the same time, he willingly subjects himself (ex: every time he interacts with man who is within this subjection).

  • Mary remain a constant virgin?

what do you get of this scripture?

Matthew 1:25 And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name Jesus.

Wouldn't mean he eventually "knew" her? "TILL" she had brought forth her firstborn son?

    11 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years ago
  • Catholics what do you believe this says?

If Mary was sinless, why would she need a saviour? We know that the wages of sin is death, so if she was sinless -then she wouldn't need a saviour, right?

If Mary was sinless, does that mean she didn't have a father, like Jesus didn't have a father - since the sin of man is carried in his seed to the child?

Did Mary have other children, and therefore was not a perpetual virgin? Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Judas, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us?

    Luke 1:46

46And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, 47And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.

48For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. 49For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name. 50And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation.

Furthermore there are other things that cannot be ignored. Mary brought a sacrifice of two turtledoves in accord to Jewish law in Leviticus chapter 12. One was for a burnt offering, the other was for a sin offering. This couldn’t have been for the child who was the Holy one, the sinless spotless lamb of God. This must have been for her own uncleanness. Mary's conformity to the law is an admission she was a sinner needing to be restored by cleansing, only sinners need cleansing.

  • Questions for Catholics?

*Do you give any form of adoration, reverence, veneration or devotion to Mary, Angels or any of the Saints?

*What is the definition of worship to you?

*Do you believe that prayer is an act of worship?

*Do you pray to Mary, Angels or Saints?

*Do you believe that Mary lived a perfect sinless life on earth? If so, can you show me in the bible?

*Do you believe that the bible claims that Mary is Full of Grace? If so, where?

*Do you believe that Mary has abilities such as; interceding for us, atoning for us, or delivering our souls from damnation? If so, could you show me biblical proof?

28 And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.

    Revelations 8-9

8 I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things. And when I heard and saw them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who showed them to me, 9 but he said to me, “You must not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers the prophets, and with those who keep the words of this book. Worship God.”

Romans 5:12 "Wherefore, as by one man [Adam] sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned." (does this include all men/women?)

Romans 3:10-12 As it is written:

10 “There is no one righteous, not even one; 11 there is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God.12 All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one.”

Romans 3:22-23 22 This righteousness is given through faith in[g] Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

2 Cor 21 God made him who had no sin to be sin[a] for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Colossians 2:18, "Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility and worshipping angels."

Luke 4:8 Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.'"

Matthew 4:10, "You shall worship the Lord your God and Him only shall you serve."

Deuteronomy 6:13 Fear the LORD your God, serve him only and take your oaths in his name.

"I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images." -Isaiah 42:8

Exodus 20:4-5, "You shall not make for yourself a carved image, any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God."

Isaiah 8:20 "To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them."

God alone is worthy of our devotion, praise and worship. He is God, our Creator, and we are commanded to praise and worship Him. Psalm 96:9 says, "Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness; tremble before him, all the earth." Psalm 29:2 says, "Give unto the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness."

Please give me some insights on the questions and scriptures provided.

If you believe that you know the one true God, please explain who he is, and what needs to be done in order to connect with him. Additionally, why do you believe he is the True God, what does it mean to you?

I can personally say that I know the one true God, but I am curious as to what others have to say. If you want me to fill you in, I would be happy to.. Just mention it in your reply.

  • Why do Atheists always bash Christians?

Why do you feel its necessary to try and make yourself look more Intelligent, better, or simply "better off"by coming to this category of religion and bashing those of us that have faith in God? Do you honestly think that you are "better off" than someone like me? I bet if we were to create a page of pros and cons of what you have in your belief vs what I have in mine, you would see that you are not. I am a perfectly happy person, who has hope and joy in the faith I have. I live life in love and without fear. I live with purpose and depth, and know who I am. I don't feel that my faith has altered my opportunities for higher intelligence, but instead has given me a sense beyond human understandings. What do you have to say?

  • A question on existance, what do you think?

If everything existing that is physical begins with Matter, then where does Matter which is PHYSICAL come from since it cannot be created nor destroyed? (law of conservation of matter)-Matter/energy/mass can only change/transform....

If you think about it, if it is physical, it has to have a beginning or stem off of something else, right? How can something that is physical just always exist? I see that as totally impossible.

The only conclusion that I can possibly think of for this question is - Something metaphysical would have had to create the very beginning of the physical (Matter) in order for it to exist. Unless by some chance Science was to find the physical thing that created Matter, we would still have to find out what created that physical thing-thus making this an ongoing indefinite search...No matter what, you cannot get something physical out of nothing at all, as there would have to be some form of interaction between forces to create an affect. These forces would already have to exist.

It is my firm belief that only something eternal existing outside of the physical, would qualify as the creator of the physical, because only then would it make complete sense that something physical that cannot be created nor destroyed does in fact exist.

So yes, I am saying that I believe 100% that there is a God and that He is the creator of all things. Nothing else makes sense...

    What do you think?

("One creates from nothing. If you try to create from something you're just changing something. So in order to create something you first have to be able to create nothing." -Werner Erhard)

To add to his saying- "In order to create, you must be outside of realm of the created, thus not created yourself, but eternal!

  • Pregnant ladies out there-Anyone have any crazy cravings lately?

I am in my 9th week of pregnancy and besides having food aversions to most things, the only thing I seem to want all of the time is potatoes. Its not a weird or crazy craving, but I have heard of some women having some and I thought it would be fun to share.

  • Was your morning sickness worse pregnant with boy or girl?

I am about 7 weeks pregnant with my second and sure don't recall the morning sickness to be this bad. With my daughter, I had some slight nausea, some food aversions and not really anything that bad. This time around I am feeling very nauseated starting around 2pm each day, and exhaustion hits me like a ton of bricks around 6pm. My boobies are sooo sore. It seems each day gets worse (with hormone increases I am sure), and I sure hope that it doesn't interfere with my job.. It makes me wonder if my symptoms are so different because I am having a boy this time...I don't know.. Just a thought.

  • JW's ..Wouldn't Jesus be considered Eternal if he created Time?

I know that Jehovah's Witnesses believe that Jesus was created, and then all OTHER things were created by him and thru him. And they believe that the following verses back up your theory .."To the angel of the church in Laodicea write: The Amen, the faithful and true Witness, the Beginning (beginning means source or origin) of the creation of God, says this: (Revelation 3:14) and He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. (Colossians 1:15)...

Though it is easy to see that FIRSTBORN in most references in the bible speaks of the ranking, and authority given to the chosen son to receive the inheritance and blessings of the father, not a birth order (because begotten is connected to this label as well), just as Isaac, David, Jacob (none were first in birth order), and even Israel even though a newer nation were considered Gods firstborn.

Jesus is firstborn in that he has preeminence and authority over ALL creation. He has the ultimate Rank!

My big question to you is, since the bible says that all things were created by Jesus, and not anything that has been made was made without him, wouldn't that mean that Jesus created time? If Jesus created time, that would mean that there was no time before he created it, thus making him eternal...right? If he is eternal, then he was not created, but has always been..

•All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. (John 1:3)

•For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities--all things have been created through Him and for Him. (Colossians 1:16)

  • Woke to a painful bump on my head?

Two days ago I woke up to a painful lump on the top right of my head, about 4 inches above my ear and about a nickle in diameter. It is hard. I hurts to the touch and tonight I noticed a tingling on that side of my head under it as well. My hubs looked at it and said that the center of the bump was red, but he didn't see anything else besides..He pinched it (which hurt sooo bad), but nothing came out. I guess I worry because I am pregnant, and I have never had anything like this before. My nephew had MRSA and from what I know of that, it can be dangerous if not cared for. I called the nurse and was told to wait it out to see if anything else happens with it. All I have to say is, this darn bump on my head hurts and I want to know what the heck it is. Anyone ever have this happen to them?

When it comes to believing in GOD...

Have you made up your mind and decided that you know all that you want to know, and there is no swaying you one way or another?

Are you willing to learn continuously -from different angles or perspectives, and allowing others to speak about their beliefs?

Or lastly, are you open enough to go out and actually seek the truth in any way that you can?

  • How did you become a believer and follower in Jesus Christ?

I was a young girl, about 6 when my uncles neighbor took me to sunday school for the first time. My parents were both into drugs and drinking-both very young- and there was alot of abuse. I remember learning about who God was and what he did for me, and I believed in him. I remember praying for my parents one day in Sunday school that they too would know Jesus and believe in him. It was about 2 years later that my prayer was answered. My mom woke up one Sunday morning believing that she was being lead to go to church. She ended up in a Pentecostal church which began her walk in Christianity My dad ended up becoming a Christian a few years later, and it was the best thing that could of happened to our family. They are both Jesus loving followers and even though they still have a wild streak in them from their pasts, they emanate the love of God and have great wisdom's to share the great new to others.

What's your story? please don't answer if you are not a Christian, as this ? would not apply to you.
