  • When should someone get help for an ED?

Someone I know has lost 3 stone (20kg) in 5 months (although they're still overweight they are planning on losing weight until they're underweight).

They fainted at the gym this week and has decided to stop seeing their GP (who is their only professional source of help).

They are getting irritable around food especially and refusing to eat sometimes for several days.

They said to me the other day 'it's nice going to sleep with an empty stomach'.

I'm worried about them but don't know what help is available. Apparently their GP is great but hasn't done anything now.

My friend has a long history of MH problems and unsuccessful contact with the MH services which means they don't want to go and see anyone from there.

  • How do I tell my mum that my brother is making me suicidal?

My brother has been living away from home for a few years now. First was with his ex-girlfriend and then he moved in with a family friend in the nearby village.

He's always been an angry person. He gets angry very easily, particularly with me, but when he hasn't been living at home, his anger has been transferred to other women, e.g. his girlfriend, and then his landlady. He used to hit, and kick and strangle me, as well as take my stuff and hide or destroy it. He frequently went into my bedroom and threw all my stuff all over the place.

He's now staying with us. Nobody has told me why but I think he's hit his landlady and I don't think she wants him to move back there, so it looks like he is moving back here.

Thing is, I was already depressed (I got diagnosed with depression and anxiety in April, but have been feeling like this for longer), I've been suicidal, and am currently signed off work by my GP.

My brother has been staying for 10 nights so far, and his aggression and moods are triggering me. I've been suicidal every day for the last week. I can't cope with him moving back in permanently. Him staying wasn't so bad while he was working (the first 5 days) but now he's just sitting and moping around all day, complaining about the house and getting angry and shouting at me and swearing and stuff. If I decide I'm going into town for something, he asks to come with me, and I can't really say 'no' there isn't a reason to say no.

I need to tell mum that if he stays here for much longer, I'm going to have to move out. If I move out, I don't know where I will go but I can't stay here with him much longer, or I will try to kill myself.

I just don't know how to tell mum.

  • High PHQ and GAD scores?

I recently had a telephone assessment from the Mental Health Services, and they went through the PHQ and GAD questionnaires (I've seen these before) and they said that the scores were too high for me to respond to CBT, but the Mental Health Service doesn't offer Counselling.

I went for my second counselling session yesterday and was told that the scores (PHQ-9 = 24, GAD-7 = 18) are too high for counselling but she's happy to keep at the counselling, at least until I get some other help from the Youth Mental Health Services (not sure how long this will take for the referral).

I'm close to self-harming a lot of the time, and I get suicidal at least 2 times a week.

I've been on fluoxetine and citalopram, but neither worked (both prescribed by the GP, who isn't too sure about prescribing anything else until I've seen someone who is more experienced in Mental Health)

I was wondering if anyone knew what might actually help. If the scores are too high for CBT and Counselling, what help is there available. Mental Health Services keep asking me what help I want, but I don't know what help is on offer.

  • I don't know what to do with my life?

My GP referred me to the mental health service because I wasn't responding to Fluoxetine (Prozac) which she prescribed for depression, anxiety, self harm and OCD tendencies.

I recently changed to taking Citalopram because the fluoxetine was making me really suicidal. But I still feel awful. I know the fluoxetine is still in my system and I will have to wait a bit for the citalopram to kick in.

I'm just fed up of life :(

I want to overdose but I'm scared of the consequences if I don't die. And I don't want to hurt people any more than I already have.

I haven't got any goals for life.

I went to see the Community Psychiatric Nurse today for an assessment, and I just feel like I'm not properly ill enough to get help, but I don't see any way out. I need help, but they don't want to give me any more help other than what I'm already getting, which is seeing a Wellbeing Advisor who just gives me leaflets and makes me feel like I'm being stupid for being so pathetic and incapable of doing stuff.

Yeah, so... any ideas for how to pick myself up and decide what I want to do in life. I feel like I've already failed so many things already, I'm scared to start other things that I'll probably fail as well.

  • Can anyone help me identify these eggs?

Can anyone help me identify these eggs? They were found in our chicken shed, alongside some normal hen's eggs (we have bantams so their eggs are small anyway)

Of the two little eggs, the darker egg was found today and the lighter was found on the 26/5.

(The larger egg is a bantam egg, and the coin is a 2pence coin)

Hopefully, people can see the picture, as I don't know any other way to share the picture here

  • do Christians who commit suicide go to Heaven?

I'm looking for answers, I can't work things out.

I have the verse, Revelation 21:4 'He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.'

It keeps going through my head, and I think 'Why not? At least it would end what I'm going through and putting everyone else through.'

And if there won't be any more tears, etc... in Heaven, why can't I go there now?

I'm just wondering what other people believe, because I'm not sure what I believe. I would like for it to be the case that believers go to Heaven if they commit suicide, but I don't know, and I'm struggling so much with life.

I want people to be honest, not say 'no' because you think it will stop me trying to commit suicide. I'm not at that point today.

  • Should an architect charge mileage to site?

    Hi,

The church is having some building work done, changing the shape of a roof. We are paying the architect a lot of money, a percentage of the cost of the work. However, we have also received a bill for mileage she has done. It seems a lot of money that she is charging for mileage as well (£500).

I was just wondering if it is normal to pay an architect for mileage.

    Thanks

  • My mum has a 'complex cyst' on her ovary?

My mum has a 'complex cyst' on her ovary, it's about 5.5 by 8.5cm, I would like to know about this.

Is this big or small for what it is?

How can it be dealt with (got rid of)?

What could have caused it? (She has PCOS)

How likely is it that I might get the same in the future?

    Thanks

  • Temporary Guardianship UK and US law?

My mum's friend is American, and married with 2 daughters.

They are in the USAF, and the parents are hoping to go to America for a short visit in the next couple of months, but do not want to take their daughters out of school for the visit. They have asked my mum to look after the girls, and we were thinking it is best to have a formal form stating a temporary guardianship of the girls, in case anything happens (either to their parents or them) during their stay with us.

I think it would be simple, but am just wondering in case with the US and UK law differences, if there is anything more to do than a simple temporary change of custody form?

    Thanks

  • What do you think about women speaking in church?

I am secretary of a Christian Society at a university in the UK.

We are a non-denominational group and we invite speakers from all the local churches.

One of the members of the committee is saying that we should not have any female speakers at our meetings. I don't think this is right, Jesus came to create us all equal but she says that she would feel strange with a woman speaking in a meeting where there are men present.

I was just wondering if anyone felt the same way, and why they do, I have found some scripture to back it up, but I would like to know why some people believe this, and if you don't, why, and can you help me find the right thing to say to help her to see that it is not 'a sin' (as she puts it) to have a woman speaking at a meeting.

    Thanks

["There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise." (Galatians 3:28-29, NKJV).]

  • How much notice are we (as tenants) entitled to?

We are students and have a Shorthold tenancy agreement???? I think (something like that)

We are wondering if the agent is allowed to show people around the property with none of us present, and how much notice they are required to give us of their intention to show people around the property?

    Any help would be great

    Thanks

  • I am going to upgrade to Windows 7 from Vista?

but I was told in the computer shop that I should create some kind of disk for the upgrade. I am running on 32-bit Vista (Asus) and am going to upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate (32-bit) which I can do as a straight upgrade, but I went into the computer shop and they said I should create some kind of disks (they said it would probably take 2 DVDs).

I know its the ones you are told to make when you first get a computer, but I never made them and I cannot work out how to do it on my laptop.

I am running Asus X58L on Windows Vista Basic, any help would be great.

It's probably something really easy and simple to do, but I just cannot work it out.

    Thanks

  • Using a mooncup help?

    Heya.

I am 19 and until now have used pads when menstruating. I am considering moving onto a reuseable cup, to save money and waste, but was wondering whether it would be a good idea to use tampons first and then move onto a cup, or just to go for it.

Also, what make would you suggest? There seem to be a lot of people saying the Mooncup is better, because it is more flexible, etc...

  • Ideas for lunch at university...?

    Heya,

Im a student at university, and have very little time to prepare lunches, but I find sandwiches boring and they can go soggy and can get squashed.

I am a vegetarian, and would like ideas for things to make for lunch that are quick and easy. I am thinking about pasta and couscous, but I'm not sure how much to use, and what works well.

I also would like variety, and maybe something I can make up a couple of days in advance.

    Thanks

  • Do animals believe in God?

I was wondering how many people believe that animals, although they do not have 'religion' believe in God?

Our dog seems to know... when I play hymns and praise music on my piano, she comes into the room and dances around and plays, when I play other music, she either growls at me until I stop playing or lays down, giving me evils. She also dislikes any digital music, such as radio or music from the computer, unless it is Christian, praise music...

I was wondering if anyone else had any thoughts on this...

  • I am getting spasms in the ring finger on my right hand.?

    Heya,

Yesterday (or maybe the day before), the ring finger on my right hand began to twitch/spasm. It started just doing it a bit, but has started to become more often.

My dad thought that it may be RSI but I looked RSI up and most of the types contain pain. I am not feeling any pain.

My finger will start to twitch, and if it started when my fingers were out straight, then my finger will curl in on itself. Once its finished twitching, then my finger feels fine and there is no problem moving it. If I concentrate on not moving my finger, it will stay still, though the twitch will still continue, but my finger doesnt curl up.

My mum has now strapped my fingers together to see if that will stop it, but doing that means it is very difficult to type... My finger is also twitching with it strapped to the middle finger, but it just doesnt curl up.

I was just wondering i fnayone could offer me any advide, whether I should keep the finger strapped up or not, and if I should go and see a doctor?

    Thanks.

  • What happens to letters to God?

    Hey,
