  • Why can t I get my JavaScript to display photos?

  • Whirlpool Load and Go washer malfunctions intermittently.?

I just purchased my new Whirlpool Load and Go washer model number WFW5620HW in January 2019 from Lowe’s. Almost right away it started malfunctioning intermittently. One thing it will do (especially right after I first bought it), is it just stops mid-load and doesn’t restart. My daughter told me that doesn’t happen if you use the quick cycle, and she seems to be right about that, but I don’t think that’s a good long term solution. Another thing that sometimes happens is it will have a minute or two left on the cycle, but it will keep spinning for another 5 to 10 minutes. I would have a Whirlpool repair person come out to look at it as it is still under warranty, but I’m wondering if they’ll have to be able to duplicate the problem so that it can be fixed.

  • Now to write a web page with images that fade from one to another?

I’ve done HTML coding in the past and created a website for a custom cabinetmaker whom I worked for at the time. (But this was some years ago.) Recently he contacted me and requested me to update his site and include some photos that fade from one to the next every few seconds. What do I need to learn to accomplish this? Can you recommend books or tutorials?

  • Tax question (nanny tax?).?

My 17 year old daughter babysat for. about 8 weeks for a divorced mom this summer, making about $60 a week. Payment was by check and no taxes were deducted.

The mom texted my daughter this week asking her to call the mom's tax service and provide her social security number.

Should we insist on the mom supplying my daughter a W2 form to avoid my daughter paying double Social Security and Medicare tax (as employee and employer)?

  • Falsely accused of hit and run car damage?

An hour or so after getting home from the grocery the other day a lady called in my license plate number and said someone had given it to her and that they saw me hit her car. An officer showed up and told me to meet another officer back at grocery. I did so, and maintained that I had not hit the other car. Even when they played video of me leaving the officer said he saw the other car move (as I supposedly hit it). I said I didn't see movement. The officer started yelling at me and threatened to

  • My family can't agree over the best way to take care of my mom.?

My 87-year old mother has Altheimers. She broke her hip recently and was in the hospital til yesterday when she was moved to a nursing home for rehab.

Our family (me, my siblings, our spouses, and 2 nieces) has collectively taken care of her for 8 years in her home prior to her fall; we siblings each have 1 night a week and 1 weekend a month to care for her. It's a LOT of work - we bathe her, cook for her, dress her, change her when she has a bathroom accident, etc.

Now, my 2 sisters feel that it's necessary for one of us to be with her 24/7 while she's a patient...i.e., sit in a chair at her bedside all night in case she forgets where she's at. My brother and I feel that the nursing home is perfectly capable of taking care of her at night as they are well staffed and trained.

I've been visiting her daily but I work full time, and have a family of my own. I told my sisters I'm not going to participate in the night shifts so they're mad at me. I don't want to fight with them, but I don't want to give in either...I'm already stressed out with the situation. Am I being unreasonable? Does anyone have suggestions?

  • Laptop playing tv station - how to shut it off?

My laptop is picking up tv signals and playing the audio. This is independent of Internet Explorer, ie, if I shut Internet Explorer off the tv audio still plays. I can tell it's tv because I can hear it switching between a news station and House Hunters. (very staticky). I can't find a setting in the Task Manager to shut it off. Please help! :)

  • Best wood for an outdoor bench?

We're planning to build a low wall along one edge of our patio that can provide double duty as a seating area. I'd like it to have a wood top made from 2x4's or 4x4's. I'm wondering what type wood is suitable. Would white oak work if it's well sealed, or would it warp? I'm not crazy about cedar and teak is so expensive.

  • Is there an admission price to tour just the Biltmore gardens (and not tour the home)?

I've been to Biltmore estate a couple of times when I was younger and it was spectacular. I was thinking of taking my daughters there when we're in the area in 2 weeks but we're limited on time and money. Is there a charge to just visit the gardens if you don't take the house tour?

  • Writing off business expenses on taxes?

Last year I did some web programming for my former employer (he's incorporated as an LLC). I finished work on his site and billed him in August 2012. Despite repeated email reminders from me, he did not pay me anything until last week (Feb. 2012) and at that time he paid in full. Now he's pestering me repeatedly for a receipt stating his account (with me) had a $0 balance for tax purposes. I just took his check to the bank last Tuesday and deposited it and am not certain it's cleared. Since he's had checks bounce in the past and because he took 5 months to pay me, I'm hesistant to rush him a receipt.

My question is, is he even eligible to claim the payment to me as a 2012 expense when he didn't even pay until 2013?

  • Should I take out this credit card with 15 months no interest and no balance transfer fee?

I'm trying to dig myself out of a credit mess. I currently have $7400 on a card at 12.99% interest. I stopped charging 6 months ago and have been paying $200 a month since...more than the minimum 2% payment but with the accrued interest, the balance is only going down by about $120 a month. I just got a card offer in the mail and am considering applying for it - 0% interest for 15 months and no balance transfer fee. Sounds tempting - to take out to pay off my existing debt, no more- but my fear is that instead of a 2% miniumum payment they will jack it up to 5% once I sign on with them. I don't believe there is anything stopping them from doing so. If that happens I am sunk because I can't afford $370 a month payments. Plus they'll raise my interest rate if I fall behind. Just really confused as to whether to trust this offer. I can't find anything saying there's a cap on the miniumum payment percentage. I could use some reliable advise from someone in banking about this.

  • Are these blood tests medically necessary to diagnose or rule out a suspected heart attack?

We just received a bill over $1600 from our local hospital for my husband's recent ER visit. The visit totaled about 2 hours, lab tests included. I'd taken my husband in because he was extremely light headed and his heart was pounding, for a couple of hours earlier in the morning. It was determined by the hospital that he'd only had an anxiety attack and his heart was fine. I requested a detailed bill from the hospital. The EKG and chest xrays appeared on the bill...each were about $200 but at least I know he definitely had them and why. The rest of the bill, other than the ER room charge, and physician fees, was lab work. Over $750 worth, That alone is enough to give ME a heart attack! I am not sure if all tests listed were performed or not, and am wondering if anyone can tell me if these lab procedures are actually necessary in ruling out heart attack? And are the charges considered usual and customary? They are listed below, #1-9. I'd welcome any comments from folks in the know.

  • What are my rights to dispute a bill amid threat of being turned over to a collection agency?

I had a local internet service provider for several years, and I never signed a service agreement. Two years ago, the local guy sold his business to a larger ISP. I was not informed of the change until after the new company took over, and was not asked to sign a service agreement with the new company.

Service was bad from the get-go with the new company and there were many outages during my short time with them (approx. 2 months). When I'd had (infrequent) outages with the former owner I would just note it on my bill and short him for each day of missed service and he adjusted his records. Shortly after the new company took over, I had an 11-day service outage, which I reported right away and had to repeatedly report it til they took any action. They finally got out to repair the problem, but service was restored less than a day and went out again. That was in May 2010 and included all of Memorial weekend. The horrible service continued into June, and when I got my next bill I saw they had not credited me one cent even though I'd lost over 1/3 of my May service. When I called and complained, they said they were not going to credit me.

I got disgusted with the horrible treatment and informed them by phone that I was cancelling. I set up different service on 6/29/2010.

They contined to send me bills for July and August service even though the dish was physically disconnected. I wrote them and stated that I had cancelled, and that I did not owe them, and that they should come pick up their equipment. They never responded and continued to send the same bill month after month. (The equipment is still attached to my roof, unused.)

This week they left a voicemail on my answering maching asking "would I just want to pay" the bill and if they didn't hear from me they'd turn me over to collections. This bill is only $42 - I don't want my excellent credit rating damaged but I don't believe I owe them a dime, and if anything they owe me for service not rendered.

How do I dispute these unwarranted charges? Shouldn't they require a signed service agreement to even try to collect from me?

  • Toshiba Satellite keyboard and mouse malfunctioning - please help?

Just purchased this laptop Saturday 4/20/12. Toshiba 15.6" laptop, i7 processor, running Windows 7.

Last night and tonight the same thing happened- while typing an email, I went to select some text (using the internal mouse) to delete and replace, and something went wrong. I could not change or add to the text. Trying to type caused other internal aps to open. Double clicking kept opening new tabs, and eventually sent the email with some text deleted, so it didn't make sense in some paragraphs.

Restarting corrects the problem. But, a 3 day old machine shouldn't have this problem in the irst place.

I'm using only the laptop, without any additional devices such as keyboard or mouse. Both times I was not running any aps other than internet explorer.

Any tips on how to correct the situation would be appreciated.

    Please, no spammers.

    Thanks!

  • Use or discard baked potatoes after 3 weeks?

I had a party 3 weeks ago and baked some potatoes for a potato bar. There were a dozen or more left over, so I put them, still in their individual foil wrappers, in a bowl in my garage refrigerator. Meanwhile I went on vacation. Now that I'm back, I'm wondering how to deal with them...would it be safe to use them in a casserole or should I discard them? (I unwrapped one and it looked and smelled ok.)

  • Will I have problems going thru airport security if I wear my rings?

My daughters and I are flying to another state this weekend. My wedding and engagement rings have been on my finger for years and I can't get them off now. We're flying to another state on Sunday. Will airport security keep me from boarding? (The rings are both just a thin gold band.)

  • Are there cash lanes on Florida toll roads between Orlando & Kissimee and between Kissimmee & St. Pete Beach?

I don't want the car rental company charging me a $60 service fee for a $6 toll (charged to their transponder) so I'd like to use cash lanes if they're available. I hear some Florida cash lanes have been removed. What are my options? Thanks!

Also - can you use $1 bills or do you have to use coins?

  • Reporting savings bonds I cashed for my son?

My son is 24 years old. Last summer I cashed some savings bonds that had been given as gifts by his grandparents over the years and were printed with my name and his on them. I cashed the bonds all on the same day and gave him the money (approx. $1000) because he needed to buy a car to get to work. The interest reported to me by the bank is approx. $650. I think I am obligated to report the interest as income on my tax return, even though he got the money, and there is no way to exclude any of it. Is that correct?

  • Traveling from Indiana to Florida in March 2012 and looking for accomodations?

I want to go to Florida for spring break (3/17-3/24) with my 2 teens. Budget is tight so will probably drive down and find a grocery when we get there. One night stay each way + 5 nights in Florida. Looking into areas like Destin or Panama City Beach. I haven't visited the Gulf side and am looking for a nice condo or hotel less than $200/day, on the Gulf beach, and with a kitchenette, hot tub, pool and nearby grocery. I'd appreciate hearing from folks who travel this area and can recommend a place, especially if there's a website where we could view photos and reviews. Thanks!
