  • Can't see my screen?

My laptop screen is EXTREMELY DARK. If i shine a flashlight into the screen is showing, but it's just to dark to see otherwise. If i plug in an external monitor it works fine, so I'm pretty sure the issue is either the backlight or whatever is responsible for powering the backlight. I know I'll probably need to get it repaired, but does anybody know any quickfixes that might get it temporarily working again until i have the money to fix it?

  • Were our parents right about video games?

Remember how your parents used to say "video games will rot your brain out"? Well, I realize not all parents said that, but some did. Now while video games don't rot your brain out, I am sorry to say it does seem they are starting to lower intelligence. You see, in the age of Atari, video games really did make you stupid. Don't try and deny it guys. They were unbearably simple and caused kids to obsess over goals that held no value. Make pac-man eat the dots. Get mario to the other side. Don't run into the fudging sign in pole-position, DEAR GOD KID how many times are you going to run into that sign?! Anyways, games were like that for awhile. However, something changed. Developers realized games could have stories. No longer were games mind-numbing toys, but an entirely new media outlet for complex story-telling. Artful scenery, comprehensive dialogue, and MUCH more dynamic gameplay entered the scene. Games shifted from childs-play to an adults pleasure. They became beautiful. Many series like final fantasy, metal gear, zelda, and resident evil showed that plot could be deep. Kingdom Hearts, Monster Hunter, Portal and so many others showed that game mechanics could be creative and thought-provoking. Games were wonderful. Now however. . .something has changed. Reverted back to the old ways. With games like GTA and COD topping the charts, games seem to be becoming their primitive, simple-minded selves again. Sales for "apps" which can be called nothing else but crappy have sky-rocketed. What went wrong? I know there are still plenty of gamers out there that know where game's real value is, but this is still an issue,

I'm just wandering what people think. Feel free to turn this into more of a thread than an answers page.

  • Where do christian people usually find their partners in life?

Ok, so, I've been Christian my whole life. I was just kind of sitting around and then I started wondering. Where do christian people usually meet their partners? I started thinking. The bar/party scene is where most people find their relationships, and I doubt that's priority for a Christian looking for long-term love. However, church, the one place Christians convene the most, isn't exactly a place to try and ask somebody out, or pick up numbers either. Even if you have good intentions, church isn't exactly a place to go lookin' for love. So then where? I looked up opinions online, and the best I got was "trust that God will show you the right person". Which is all fine and good, I believe that. However, where does God usually put them then? I guess what I'm asking is, how and where do christian relationships start??? I find it to be a bit of a conundrum.
