  • Song in first season of Lost when Hurley's discman stops working?

I'm looking for the artist and song title. I'm fairly certain it is from season one, close to the end of the season.

It's from the scene where Hurley is walking and seeing everyone working together etc. There is a mellow song playing... he finally sits down on the beach and is looking out at the water when the song dies, then he shakes his discman but it's dead... can anyone tell me the song and artist?

I don't know if I have it exactly right but I believe one of the lines goes: "does it mean something to ya, when you sing hallelujah..."

I believe the televised Leaders debate (in English) is this Thursday night... Does anyone know for sure? And what time is it being aired (specifically pacific time if you know)? And last... what station will be broadcasting the debate? Any help to point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. And of course, for all of you who can, I encourage you to vote!!!

  • Should I forgive my friend or move on?

My best friend recently introduced me (about 6 months ago) to an old friend from her childhood. We have hung out a few times with him and had a lot of fun. Then a few weeks ago we were out for his birthday doing the bar hop thing. By the end of the night it was like he just had one drink over his limit and he turned wierd and then into a big jerk. He started a fight with another guy at my friends house and started spewing all these prejudice terms and slang etc. My friend and I were totally appalled so after a long dragged out argument we kicked him out and sent him home. He was really angry when he left so I caught up to him and tried to settle him down before he left. He didn't want me around so he shoved me out of the way and stormed off. He didn't bother to call and apologize for being a jerk and has now left back out of town for work. Now he is asking forgiveness via email and saying he can't remember what happened (he has claimed this before). Should I forgive him or forget him?

  • After break up, I don't want him back but I'm upset about his new girl?

Ok, my boyfriend and I broke up back in January - we were together for almost 4 years and we lived together. We broke up and have both been much happier as friends than we ever were while being together. I don't want him back and I have no lingering feelings for him, we broke up for good reasons - but now he has a new girlfriends and it is bugging me... why!? I keep asking myself why and I just don't know. This is the first time I have ever been bothered by an ex moving on, but this is also the first time I have been friends with someone immediately after breaking up - usually it takes a long time to regain that... ACK! I just don't know what to think, any help would be great, thanks!

  • Work Visa, for a Canadian going to England?

Does anyone know where I should start looking to get information on work Visas? I am Canadian and I am planning to go to England next spring for approximately one year. I want to start looking into it now so I can have an application processed on time and also so I can get together whatever funds/paperwork will be required to obtain the Visa. I tried to do searches via Yahoo and Google but there are so many hits and I can't narrow it down enough to find the right site. If it helps, I am more specifically looking at working in Manchester - any information or guidance would be appreciated, thanks!

  • Do your friends give you bad service?

Why is it that people seem to think if you are their friend they don't have to give you as good of service as they would anyone else?

I just find it extremely frustrating, I do not do that to my friends! I may speak to them differently because I know them, but the service is the same across the board. I went to my bank today, and all I had to do was sign a paper that was waiting at customer service - well a friend of mine was on the phone behind the counter when I came in. Instead of offering to call the person back he just kept talking - I assume it was a friend on the phone because they were talking about parties and going for ice cream etc. Anyway, I wasted 10 minutes waiting for him to get off the phone.

Usually I would complain to a manager about bad service I have received but what do I do when it's a friend? I don't want to get them in trouble at work, that would be awful!

  • not attractive without makeup???

Ok, I have never been big into the whole make-up thing. I do like to wear it sometimes when I am going out for the night or to a nice dinner etc. but I don't bother on a daily basis or for work and so on. Anyway, a friend of mine told me just the other day that he thinks I should be wearing makeup 24/7 or I will be single forever because men don't like it when women don't wear make-up! I really did want to smack him senseless for that, but of course I didn't! Anyway, my feeling is that I don't like to have that crap on my face all the time. I like the way I look without make-up - no, my eyelashes aren't as long looking, and my cheekbones don't stand out as much etc.- but come on! Do men really not appreciate natural beauty anymore? Do they think I don't look after myself because I don't paint on a fake face everyday? Even if it's not exessive, it is still fake (even the "natural" look)... A little insight/advice please?? Men or women are free to comment!

  • Canada - no more pennies??

So the Canadian government is trying to pass a bill to stop creating pennies so that the country will be penny free by January 09.

For me, this is disappointing - I use pennies every day. I pick them up when I see them on the street, I save them until I have time to take them to the bank, I use them to make exact change... But now if you do not turn in all of your pennies to the bank by the end of the year they will be worthless. Retail prices etc. will get rounded up to make up for lack of exact change and so on.....

What do you think of this? How will this affect you - financially, socially etc?

  • True English translation of the Holy Qaran??

Sorry if I did not spell that right! I have tried to find a true English translation of the Holy Qaran but have only come across books that discuss it or are under the opinion and bias of the author. Does anyone know of a straight up translated version? I am very curious about it, many of my friends have read parts or the book in it's entirety and say that it is very beautiful but they don't know which book it was that they read - I would like to see for myself what it is really like. Religions and beliefs intrigue me and I enjoy gaining a better understanding of the world around me and the people in my life. Help me please? And suggestions of where to start looking? Even Amazon.ca was a fruitless effort for me...

  • Dating ettiquette - after long term relationship?

Ok, well, I have just come out of a very long term relationship. Was with him for 3 1/2 years, we lived together and I also lived with my last 2 boyfriends before him. Essentially, it has been about 6 years since I have been single. I am certainly enjoying my freedom but am also wanting to explore my romantic options and maybe do some dating. The thing is, I'm 24 years old - and I don't know how to date!! Ridiculous right!? With my relationships things just took their course, as they do, but I have no idea what is appropriate and what is not in regards to dating (not manners, I've got that part down - it's the rest I need help with!). Is it ok if I want to pay for a date? Does it need to be said, or will it be assumed that we are NOT in a relationship just because we went on a date? How long do I wait to call them back? Kissing etc. on the first date? Should it be an active or low key date? I just feel so silly and lost!! Argh! Help me please! Any advice will be appreciated!
