  • Is Acacia cognata toxic to dogs? If so, alternatives?

Before answering, please note this is a very specific question - I've done some searching on the web and seen sites referring to the Acacia *family* of plants (generally as a "low-irritant" to dogs if ingested) , but this is a broad family of plants and I'm trying to find out as much objective information about the Acacia cognata species and what risk it specifically poses to dogs.

As a second part of the question, the Acacia cognata dwarf variety (Limelight) is the plant we're looking at - but if we can't use it in our garden, a suggested alternative that is pet safe would be great. We're looking for a soft, cascading and relatively bright green foliage; absolute max 1m circumference & height (preferably a bush than a tree); suited to a sheltered semi-shade position and a temperate climate (5-35 degrees C, or about 40-95 degrees F).

    Thanks!

  • Should I get a second hand Taylormade hybrid?

I have been looking for a hybrid to help replace my 3 iron. I was interested in the Adams v3, new Ping and latest Taylormade, but recently came across a second hand r7 draw hybrid (I have an r7 draw driver and it's great). So not sure whether to pay more for a new club or go second hand. Have hybrids improved since the r7 draw was first released 4-5 years ago, or is it just marketing hype?

  • What dog best suits us?

We're doing some research on what dog to get and I thought I'd open it to the panel! We'd like to get a small-medium sized dog (no small yapping types), that is safe with infants and cats. It would have a small outdoor area (6x4m) and walks on most days. A lab is too big. We were thinking maybe an English or Springer Spaniel. Thoughts?

  • Who's the worst Test batsman of all time?

I know Courtney Walsh has the most ducks - but I reckon there's been worse batsman than him. Who's the worst to have played at least 20 or so Tests?

  • Rocco Mediate: where has he been?

Really enjoyed watching Rocco play at the US Open golf, especially with his good attitude, but I hadn't even heard of him before. Where has he been? Has he improved his golf dramatically recently?

  • Indiana Jones: is it good for adults?

Just wondering whether adults who have seen the first three films will like this one. I've seen the old ones recently - enjoyed them, but now realised I might be getting a bit old for them!

  • French Burgandies: any good suggestions?

I like Australian Pinot Noir but know very little about the French ones. Any inexpensive ones available in Australia you can recommend?

  • Possums are eating the succulent plants on our balcony. How can we stop them? (no gun suggestions, please!)?

We live in Sydney and we've caught ringtail possums in the act! Unfortunately we can't move the plants indoors and we've tried cutting the branches nearby, but it looks like they can still get onto our balcony via other railings. We don't feed them as I'd say that would only encourage them. Any ideas?

  • What's the best type of orchids to grow in Sydney, Australia?

I've just started collecting and was wondering what sort of success people have had. At my place they can be put inside or on a balcony, which gets filtered sun but is not too intense.
