I do a lot of animal rescue work and also foster collie pups as well as showing... Im a good fosterer keep failing, work on line at night and my new puppies go to new homes for the rescue next week all fit and healthy... Dogs are for life, make sure you get one who is fit and healthy and if you cant afford vet bills dont buy them.

  • Christmas and Family Arguments - already started...?

My motherinlaw lives round corner and comes for christmas dinner, we have a few pets so we cant really or wont travel on christmas day and leave the in the car..

My mother who wasnt the best mother in the world.. is on whinge mode.. my brother lives abroad, my sister and her husband live 4 and half hours away as do my other brother and i live 2 hours away.. so travelling down for a couple of hours is impossible.

She has rang up and slagged all of us and all our partners, and demanded her presents.. etc.. and thats shes not buying any.. which is up to her, i reminded her i dont buy to buy back.. she has been one nasty person.

So i have compromised and said meet us half way and then we will take you out for a meal before xmas, or if your passing up this way, we will take you out for a meal in town.. the next min she said i want to come to your house.. i said if you want to travel your welcome to.. to which she replied no i dont want to come my sister is coming to ours now..

i am ashamed of all my kids, now we are getting old you dont want to know us.. this is a mother who was a drunk and beat us most of our lives so we are not very close.. but we have bent over backwards in trying to include them.

Tonight ended up in a big row and i told her where to go in no uncertain terms as im not having her mess us around and spoil christmas no matter how much she tries.. i told her i dont want to speak to her ever again. i warned her last time she kicked off and didnt speak to her for 3 months.. think this time it has to be permanet.

All the kids have shown concern that they are getting older and wish they would move back up north to which they said they were considering but now say they dont want to. which is a shame as we are concerned if anythng happens to them, we cant be staying their for long as we have lives and jobs etc to come back to.. to which they have said when we go your not getting nowt from us.. which is fine as we are not money orientated either.

Next year this will be avoided as we have decided to go away for xmas as im not going through all this again.. but cant see what else i could have offered them, we would have seen them christmas week and swopped pressies taken them out for a meal etc..

She is slagging us all off to her friends down their and now our families and its getting back to us.. its nothing to do with their age, its the distance where they live and then her last comment was she going to go right down bottom of uk and live.. which if they do we will never see them..

We always said when they got older we would have problems and they are surfacing and she compares us to her friends kids who are close to their parents/..

Everyone of the kids have kids, committements or jobs and we cant just drop everything to travel such a long distance.. they are not short of a bob or two and easily could stay in motels.. i wont have them staying at my house due to their drinking i did 15 years ago and she ended up smash[ing up part of my house and i vowed that day, thats their life not mine and i wont tolerate it in my house, i work hard for my items and have to last a long time..

Any other advice is appreciated, she is very jealous t hat all kids are visiting inlaws, but as we keep stressing they are round the corner not so far away.. last year we met half way in treacherous weather, had to pull off at every service station cos of snow to meet them to keep them happy.. but dont think i will be seeing them at all after tonight.. my hubby is fuming with her.. its my mother not my father, he understands.. but my mum is a very selfish woman who is now saying i dont want this i dont want that expects expensive presents and will buy you something as cheap as she can..

    families and xmas eh xx

  • How can I find out about a will made nearly 40 years ago..Family Dispute..?

40 years ago when me and my brother were kids, a house was left supposedly to my mother, my brother has a suspicious feeling it was left to all three of us if sold and money to go in trust.. now my parents are pensioners and have a big house as they sold it, but my brother wants to see a copy of the will as he thinks somehow she got round giving the kids the share as adults.. This has only arose recently, after mother is going on threatening to cut off our inheritance..which we are not really bothered about as both my brother and i are not money orientated like my mother is.. but my brother is going to get his solicotr to have a look.. parents live 4 hours away and we have our own lives and we have asked them time and time again to move closer up to us, just in case they need us.. and all we get is drunken phone calls shouting and swearing at us.. yet weirdly something is going on as their is 4 people named in the will and my brother and i get more.. and this is really getting to my brother so i thought one way or another if we could access the will it would put minds at rest.. but then i worry in case this has happened as my brother would go after the money.. gees family... im for letting things be.. im happy with my life as it is and wish they would go and blow the lot instead of hoarding the money and been far away from us .. we know the town the will was read in but dont know anything else.. any advise please x

  • Do I need a gun to travel safely?

Next year I am planning to come to USA visiting friends and generally going from new york to florida to vegas etc.

I am not a kid, infact i will be 45, but you hear of crimes against people travelling, do i need a weapon to protect myself. Also can you do courses in gun safety etc etc when im their, im coming for around 3 months..

Also is their a legal disposal of guns.. as when i come back to the UK i will not need one.. i have never fired a gun, so might try and join a club here first..

  • Has anyone had dealings with SHC Collections (clothes etc)?

I have just had the leaflet through the door wanted clothes underwear etc etc for third world companies.. Now they are not saying they are a charity and its clear they are a business who sell on the clothes. I have googled and seen all sorts of details..

They are in the Warrington area on Wednesday, I just want to make sure if i do donate to them that they do go to people in need in third world countries even if they sell them their, and not on ebay!! as some of the items i have are brand new with tags on..

We have quite a few bags of stuff and am sorting more out now as i really do need to clear out. We did ask a couple of charities to collect which suprisingly they said just drop off we dont collect, well neither do i deliver to them with kidney problems.. so it has to go somewhere and i would rather it go to some use.

Has anyone had dealings with these lot before?

  • Senior Moments!, what stories do you have?

I suppose we never thought of having to treat my motherinlaw like a child and tell her things she should already be aware of or know.. so i thought it would be fun to create a thread for funny stories..

Mine was we had gone to visit MIL and she was on the phone to her companion who is in his 90s. I was just drinking coffee and so was hubby in the front room when we heard her on the phone saying, "dont worry, I will pop to the chemist later and get some viagra"!

At this point after hubby nearly collapsing on the floor and said go and speak to mum and find out what are they up to... and me saying no its your mum you do it.. i got landed with the job...

So been quite discreet about it, I said oh and how many viagra are you going to give him? and she said i will buy a pack of them over the counter... At this point, hubby had to walk out the room totally in shock.. I quizzed her more and said do you really need a pack.. she said yes, hes got an awful headache..

At this point we both burst out into hysterics, think more of relief... then she said why should i give him something else.. at this point i had to explain her what viagra was... she didnt get it... so i had to be a bit more graphic..

To which she replied ooooooooer, your joking, they really do that... omg, and she burst out laughing...

We often laugh about this my husband and I especially when i had to tell her what they do to men.. and think we left her in shock..

What funny senior moments do you have with your parents. so much for growing old gracefully lol.

Tommorrow my two kittens go to their forever homes. They are going to new people, both whom i know so i will see them grow up...both are been neutered and speyed and both will have a wonderful life..

Do you find it hard to say good bye to pets you have raised?

Their bags are packed, flead and wormed, toys in a ruck sack each for them..and their dishes and roller balls.. new collars, tags all ready with their new names on.. microchip forms included.

i fell asleep on my bed before and they were playing around on the floor and when i woke up they were both next to me...

Tommorrow night is defo going to be a quiet night here.. but glad they got new homes and will be looked after.

  • How to deal with a puppy who loves the kittens to bits..?

Our kittens all go to their new homes next week.. but their is one problem we are going to have, while the cat doesnt really bother with them now might pop in to see them once a day to say hi..

Our 9 month collie puppy absoloutely adores them, she has loved them to bits and the cat was happy for her to be sat next to her while the kittens suckled.

The kittens also adore her and its lovely to see them all having fun. They have their own seperate play room which is secure as one of my other dogs, the puppys mum wants to eat them..keeps licking her lips..

There will be no more litters as she is the last animal to get neutered, but dont know how to deal with the puppy who is going to be gutted next week when her play mates all disappear..

Last thing i want her to think is eek the kittens have gone is it my turn next.

    Any advice please

  • Why do we get massive spiders in our house..?

We live on an old raf base, and the land is marshy at times..

But we have loads of spiders.. and they are massive about the size of your palm and we are in the uk.. now we have had so many that as long as i can see them i dont mind them..

We went outside yesterday with a large spider, two days before their was a large spider in the upstairs, yesterday was in the bedroom, its not the same one they were different and tonight i went to go to the bathroom and one ran from one side of bathroom under the washing basket, hubby did say he found one asleep in the towels.. other day..

I have bought those sensor things to keep em out but i have mislaid it lol.. but yesterday we saw loads of little spiders climing up the front of the house wall..

Is their anything else we can do to get rid of these, i dont want to kill them but i shamlessy admit i do if they startle me, but as i said if its on the wall as long as i know roughly where they are i dont mind.. ps my cats dont go after them they follow them and think its a game..

  • Abandoned Cat, that keeps coming to our house..?

Just another quick question re another cat..

We have our own cats and we lost two age 22 and 20 last year and year before, they live side by side with the dogs and are happy to do so.

I do quite a bit of work in rescue, dogs etc and cats and the other day we spotted around 10 kids in our garden with a large stick trying to get a cat from under the bush.

My hubby went out and said what do you think your doing, they said the cats under their, they said is it our cat.. he said no thats a white cat ours are black..

At the moment we have kittens and this cat was only about 6 months old and had a flea collar on and no id. one of them said it was their auntys but it ran off and she doesnt want it..

I said ok, the cat looked distressed, so i said leave him with me and we will feed him and make sure hes got a warm bed for the day.. He quite happily sat with me and went into the room where the kittens were and after eating loads of food and drinking he was purring and went fast asleep.

That evening we let him go back out as at end of day it isnt our cat and it would be wrong to keep someone elses cat..

The next day, more of the kids were back with the cat saying here we have brought your cat back, we explained its not our cat etc etc and they said we gave it to the man in the house.. i explained you cant give a cat away without an owners consent although we would be happy to have him and rehome him.

They then said it was their grans this time and two of the kids were local.. I told my hubby and he said lets keep him and i said no.. So i said if i can find out whos cat it is then thats different, so i went round to this ladys house, and she explained her mum found it very hungry in her garden and had damage to the tail and took it to the vets but then it went missing and just turned up again a couple of days ago.. so it isnt really her cat, but she thought it was dumped in the park at the back of our houses..

I am in the uk and dont know the law on taking this cat in as i am aware that cats will go where they can get food and love and shelter, but in the back of my mind i keep thinking i wish he would come back so at least i know hes ok..

Any advice..i have never seen this cat around our area before, so not sure where hes come from and he had cuts on his face, prob been fighting as he was uneutered. i did check his tail and that was healing.. but feeling guilty now for not taking him in and its pouring it down with rain outside.

  • Should I stop mother cat letting the kittens suckle..?

our kittens are coming up to 8 weeks and go to their new homes next week..

However they are fully weaned and lapping and the mother only pops in at night to say hi to them and then only for a short while.. but she still likes them to suckle and they just fall asleep on her..

I think her milk is drying up nicely now so cant be much their.. they are happy on their own during the day, they have a play room and beds and crates and toys and are fed 3 times a day and biscuits and are healthy and happy kittens..

Now mum appears at night when im in the computer room like now, and will let them suckle and she will play with them, shes not around for long and its the first time she shown up in two days to see them..

What do you think i should do..they dont sleep with the mum at all.

  • When you say goodbye to the kittens, what do you give new owners.?

We have 3 kittens, who will be 8 weeks old on Sunday and shortly after will be leaving to their new homes..

We rescued her mum, i ended up going shop for a newspaper and came back with two cats, one my friend had and we had the female who was pregnant..

She is going in for speying after this as we dont want no more kittens.

Now one owner just asked if they could have the kitten now and we said no as they have just reached 7 weeks old and im not letting them go till they are older than 8 weeks, which will be next week..

I havent charged people for them, i was more concerned that they find good homes and they have. I have fleaed and wormed them.

Should i put their feeding bowls in and toys i have bought them, i havent put collars on them because they are really small kittens like their mum is only kitten sized..

Is their anything else i should be doing when i say goodbye to them.. am dreading it in a way as i love them to bits ..

  • Puppy has started to rag my old dogs...?

My lovely little collie pup who is a collie x, has always been a good pup, we love her to bits and my 13 year old and 10 year old girls have always mothered her and love her to bits..

However in the last couple of weeks she is starting to be norty to the point where she grabbed my 13 year old little dog by the ear and threw her over the sofa.. This time their was no provocation or food near by..

She gets treats and everything and always is plenty of food around but shes becoming food aggressive.

We have gone back to basics with her and the crate is up and shes fed in their to give the others peace while they are eating.. She makes up with the dogs and they are best friends for a couple of days..

Other than that she is a lovely puppy, but I cant accept that she wont back off when called when their is food around the others..

We are hoping that this is just the terrible teens and she will grow out of it, she is fantastic where the kittens are and is so gentle around them and loves to mother them. The other dogs are not interested in the kittens in anyway and they are not near her, so no chance of jealousy.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

  • Is Yahoo Answers really worth spending time on..?

Reason why I ask this is because i come in on yahoo uk and ireland yahoo answers, yet most of the time it says the question is from usa..

Now this seems a waste of time having a uk and ireland one, as things are different over here than over to usa and the lingo is different.

Other day i got a violation notice for a inapproprate word and its not even a swear word.. yet I come across tons of people swearing and using abusive language on here.

They accept people and trolls saying offensive things and never seem to do anything about it..

I do a lot of answers each day if i have the time but now am seriously thinking is it really worth it..

  • Kittens wont eat or drink independent?

We got a stray cat, very petite maybe just older than a year, but she was pregnant.. she is a lovely cat and had 3 little kittens..

They were 5 weeks old on sunday just gone and they show no interest in food, we have tried kitten food, supplementry, all sorts but all they want to do is play..

now her mum is still with them some of the time but for most of the time she isnt so we bottle fed them.. they will take it from the bottle but we have since week 3 offered them little bits of food..

never had this with rescue kittens before, always been ready and hungry,..

do you think i should try salmon or something like that.. in all other ways they are fit and healthy and normal very alert development, and running and playing etc..
