I’m badly in need of advice now….I’m stuck in a predicament and don’t know which choice is better from a long term career perspective.

I’ve got an offer from an Indian stockbroking firm…it’s not majorly well known, but it’s part of the Coffee day group….they treated me very well, the pay they’re offering is decent, it’s a day job from 9am to 6pm, it’s within the city limits (next to UB city, bangalore), I’ll probably get all Indian holidays because it’s an Indian firm. I was told that they’ve decided to take me, and that I’ll get a confirmation email from them in a couple of days...I was happy to hear that.

Next, day before yesterday, I got an interview call from Deutsche Bank. The job profile is high profile…it’s to do with securitization of mortgage-backed securities in the US bond markets….the catch is, I have to work in shifts….from oct to march, it’s 2pm to 11pm, and from april to sept, it’s 1pm to 10pm (although I may have to stretch for 2-3 hours becoz they work on strict deadlines and the workload will be high)….which means I’ll reach home by maybe 1 am or 2am in the morning/midnight because it’s in electronics city….also, they told me that in a month, for atleast 4-6 days, I will have to work from 4 in the afternoon to midnight 2am….

Nothing has been finalized yet, and they haven’t made a final decision to take me, but still, IF, by chance, they do decide to take me, I really don’t know what to do.

Deutsche Bank (DB) is an MNC, it’s got a brand, it’s a bulge-bracket investment bank that people would die to work for….it’s internationally recognized, and the job profile is also good, the people were nice to me …they weren’t rude or arrogant…they treated me well….they assured me that safety is not a thing to worry about becoz they have a very efficient cab service, and in case I’m the last one to be dropped, a security person will be sent with me in the car….

Some say that DB has got a name, so it’ll be beneficial from a long term perspective….the stockbroking firm doesn’t have a name as big as DB…..I really don’t know what to do….the shift is what most worries me…not the 2pm to 11pm, but the 4pm to 2am shift….what do I do?? Please give me guidance….which is better if you’re thinking long term??
