Winter driving, counter steer spin recovery.?
Lets assume you driving along at 100kph on a straight road. The back end of your rear wheel drive vehicle starts to lose traction, maybe you hit some ice or deep snow, the reason isn't important. You quickly put the steering wheel into opposite lock (counter steer). You vehicle is now sliding at a 45 degree angle in the original direction of travel (down the road). Because you counter steered, the front end of the car is starting to straighten out. Before the vehicle is fully straight again you loosen your grip on the wheel.
Will the momentum of the vehicle turn the wheel to a straight position by itself? I play alot of realistic racing games on the pc (GT Legends, GTR2, rFactor) with a logitec G27 racing wheel, with duel force feedback motors. When I do whats described above, the wheel will return to a nearly neutral position and the car will pretty much recover itself, so long as the counter steer is starting to bring the car back to a straight position. I figure the same rules would apply in real life but I haven't had the nerve to try it.
Also I've watched a lot of youtube vids where race drivers lose control of there cars and the wheel seems to have a mind of its own. So why couldn't this same principle be used for spin recovery?
2 AnswersSafety10 years agoMotorcycle speedometer cable stopped working.?
When I ride my speedometer needle jumps around + or - 200kph! while my actual speed is only 80kph. The cable is in great shape and I've had the wheel apart 3 times now. everything is assembled correctly. I've used light grease on the cable and have greased anywhere from a light greasing all the way to nearly packing the cable in grease. Nothing seems to work. The speedometer only jumps around about 75% of the time. The other 25% of the time its working great. I've even tried spraying silicone lube up into the speedometer housing. Nothing seems to work. I'm all out of ideas...

3 AnswersVideo & Online Games10 years agoPain in my appendix and groin area.?
I've been having mild pain in my appendix and groin area. It feels like the after effects of being kicked in the balls but doesn't hurt nearly as bad. The pain migrates between my right testicle and the appendix area (lower right of belly button). I haven't taken a blow to that area nor have I done anything strenuous in the last 3 days, when I first felt the pain. I did however sleep in a position I wouldn't normally sleep in, where I was laying on my side with my legs stacked on top of each other. This was because my dog was sleeping in my bed and I didn't want to wake her. I'm thinking I may have squished my balls sleeping like that and that might be whats causing the pain... I hope. Everything appears normal on the outside but there's something going on inside. I'm kinda worried.
I'm a healthy active 23 year old.
2 AnswersPain & Pain Management10 years agoWhat happens in the last Little house on the prairie episode?
My dad insists that the last episode featured a scene where Charles is trying to rescue his family from a burning house but he cant get close because of the heat "alot of people were pissed off that they ended the series like this" he keeps telling me. I keep telling him that the only episode that comes close to that description is "gold rush part 2" where Zacharia sets his shack on fire in an effort to kill himself and Charles cant save him because of the heat. I've seen probably 90% of the 205 episodes in the series but haven't seen most of season 9.
So does the series end with the ingells family getting burned alive or is my dad grossly mistaken. i dont believe him the slightest bit, but because he's so insistent and the fact that I haven't seen most of season 9 makes me wonder...
3 AnswersDrama1 decade agoCherrybomb Glasspack?
I plan to put a Cherrybomb Glasspack on my 03 Mazda B3000 3.0L V6.
I think I need the one with the 2" inlet and outlet tubes but haven't yet measured my pipe. The 2" size comes in 3 different lengths:
22"
26"
30"
What are the differences between these mufflers. Would the longer one give more of a deep rumble and sound a little less ricey.
FYI: Im really not trying for a ricer sound. The ford ranger videos on youtube with cherrybombs sound like 80's porsche 911's which I really like. I dont want a flowmaster cause then my truck would sound like every other truck on the road.

3 AnswersFish1 decade ago90 gal tank stocking ideas (south american cichlids)?
My 90 gal tank is currently bare. No water, substraight, plants, decorations, anything. All I have is the filter and heaters. I haven't really any idea of how I want to set it up or what fish I want to use. The only thing I have made up my mind on is, I want at least 1 oscar and the rest I want to be south american chiclids.
If you were setting up a new 90gal tank what would you put in it and how would it be decorated?
12 AnswersFish1 decade agoSeachem Clarity, Water Clarifier?
Why wont this stuff work? I've used it 4 times in various tanks and all it does is make it look like pond water. I let it sit for 3 days hopping it'll work this time but it never does. I end up doing water changes over the course of 2 weeks or so to get the water back to a fairly acceptable state, and wondered why I bothered to try it out again.
I've done chemical tests (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, ph, and hardness) to confirm that Im using it in "normal" fish tank water.
I don't get it. Defective bottle maybe?
Has anyone else had this problem?

3 AnswersFish1 decade agoMolly vs Beta fight, bizarre results?
My brother just got a beta fish as a gift and he wanted to put it in my 20gal tank. I allowed it even though I didn't expect it to work out, but everything worked out fine... for a while. The beta was minding himself and was really shy in the first 2 days. Usually hiding in the rock cave or in plants. On the 3rd day the beta was really active and swam around alot. I figured he has finally got a feel for the tank and will get along good with his tank mates. Boy was I wrong...
I just happened to be walking by when I saw him and my molly staring each other down (both male). The beta was pissed and in full out attack mode with its gills flared out to the sides. The molly had its top fin sticking straight out. They locked mouths for about 10 seconds then the molly just seemingly died! No kidding it just went limp then sank to the bottom and rolled onto its side. I never saw anything like this before. The beta kept on the offense while the molly was just laying on the bottom. I reached into the tank to scare the beta away and when i did the molly sprang to life again and swam into my hand. I kept my hand there for awhile and he continued to sit in my hand. even when I moved my hand around a bit he kept on swimming into my cupped hand. Weird
I went to grab the net and remove the beta. No fish messes with my favorite molly and gets away with it. The beta will now be living in a cookie jar for the rest of his life. Its a fairly large cookie jar though probably around 4 liters.
Anyway I have been keeping fish for 6 years and have never seen a fish play dead or rush into my hands like that. My molly and I have a really close relationship but I never thought him to be more then just a fish. Is it really possible that he knew I was there to save him? Sounds kind of corny but you would have to see it to believe it.
Both fish were unhurt in the ordeal and are now separated. Both seem much happier.
3 AnswersFish1 decade agoCan a convict breeding pair live in a 20gal tank?
I really really really want to breed convicts. I also want an oscar. I guess I cant have both in my 90gal tank so I was thinking of selling off the fish in my 20 gal and using that for the convicts. Can a convict breeding pair live in a 20gal tank or is that to small?
Also is it even wise to have a convict breeding pair in a small tank? I herd that when they have fry the male will sometimes start attacking the female as soon as he figures out that theirs no other threats in the tank? (ie other fish)
Is that true?

3 AnswersFish1 decade agoWhen you buy a large fish from a fish store how do they transport it?
I've been to my local "big Al's" fish store several times and I've noticed alot of the bigger fish are sold but are still in the tanks.
You'll see stuff like "12 inch arowana SOLD" written on the side of tanks. Just wondering the process of getting a large fish from the pet store to your home and how its done. Surely its to big to be bagged right?
