Even though a certain amount of wisdom comes with age, I am still a student of the universe. I seek truth & knowledge in all things. I like to look at as many opinions & sides of an issue before I make up my mind. My opinion is never set in stone because life if fluid & new knowledge can make old beliefs moot. Born & raised in Canada. Have seen so many changes in this lifetime & hope to see more. I know humanity isn't living up to its full potential, but I am stiving to do my part by living up to mine. I am a father, a brother, an uncle, a friend. I was a son & I was a husband, a long time ago.
Christians: do you value God's gift of free will?
Reading many questions here, I'm hoping they are pretenders. If they are not, and are actually Christians, I'm worried.
I'm seeing more & more young people judging their fellow man. That's God's right alone. I see more & more trying to force others to live as they feel is right. To try to steal God's gift of free will from another seems to me to blaspheme the Holy Spirit itself.
Bonus Questions:
Have any of you noticed this trend?
Does it concern you at all?
Myself, I've lapsed on & off the path to Heaven many times in this lifetime. But my sins are between me & my creator. I would never answer to my fellow man for them. I can't support judging others. Can you?
5 AnswersReligion & Spirituality10 years agoI have not spent much time in the Spirituality section lately. Please explain to me why so many users are so?
unhappy & complaining of trolls & monkeys? I believe I may not be up on the jargon here.

Not even on the radar?
Do you care to share your faith &/or denomination?
Remember - I am asking about organizations, not the belief system itself. I am curious about this as I am seeing a real difference in the theory & practise of many groups.

1 AnswerSingles & Dating1 decade agoCan ANYONE tell me which Christian denomination encourages its members to believe that their relationship with?
their God is like a marriage.
The metaphors I am most familiar with put humanity in a subservient role. Marriage is more of an equal footing. I want to know which church is teaching this more progressive way of thinking.
Another poster used this metaphor to answer a question, but doesn't allow e-mail or any other contact, so I can't ask her where she learnt it.
11 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoFor those who have a personal relationship with their God & attend a church?
This is my second attempt at asking this, the first time wasn't quite clear:
Does your church encourage you to believe your relationship with your God is like a marriage, and if so what denomination are you?
This question is inspired by an answer I read to another question & it got me thinking...

(you can follow this link to my original question, if you want & it has the link to the answer that inspired all of this)
1 AnswerReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoChristians: Clarify this please...is your relationship with your God a marriage?
In all my years, I've never heard this before.
"its alot more than that...HE WANTS TO MARRY US AND LIVE WITH US forever.."
Is an answer one person gave in response to a question about the parent-child relationship with their God. I'm familiar with that way of thinking, but the only marriage with God I've ever heard of before was for Nuns, brides of Christ.
Anybody hear of this before? And what denomination?
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoHomosexuality & sin - please clarify (Mostly for Christians)?
In a previous question, No Chance Without Jesus says all sex is a choice, except rape. Does this mean that it would be alright & no sin to be homosexual if you remained celibate? Or even a virgin?
Just curious about how this is defined.

Instead of H1N1 preparedness supplies (hand sanitizer, masks, gowns, etc), the Canadian Federal Government delivered 200 body bags to Northern Reserves in Manitoba.
Was this a Freudian slip or just an honest mistake?
6 AnswersCurrent Events1 decade agoMen VS Women - relationship poll?
http://ca.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ak...
I just answered the above. Short version:
She is more into him than he is into her. Most female replies say this is normal, many guys did too...
Do you think it is normal for women to expect a lesser level of feelings & / or commitment from men?
Do you think these women are cheating themselves out of true love & settling for being Miss Right-Now? Or do you believe men are not capable of as deep an emotional connection as women?
Personally, I lean toward cheating themselves out of real love as I know I can & do love very deeply...just like Percy Sledge in "When a Man Loves a Woman..."
Your thoughts?
4 AnswersSingles & Dating1 decade agoCatholics, especially, & Christians too, I guess...?
Mel Gibson's outrageous behaviour in a church, during a service, with visiting dignitaries - how would your church handle a member of your congregation doing it?
3 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoAtheists - others would not be able to answer correctly -?
Who would you credit as being a major influence in your personal choice to be atheist (which is why only an atheist can answer)? And, who would you say (public figures) makes the best argument for atheism?
The 2 best arguments for atheism so far are 1- John Lennon's Imagine & 2 - Jim & Tammy Faye Bakker & all other so called righteous folk involved in serious misconduct.
22 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoNot a true Christian clause?
Yet another question inspired by one I just read. In her answer, a fellow user said that christians have a nice escape clause, by saying "So & so was not a true Christian" when they get caught red handed. Your thoughts on this?
I would think that these people were not living up to their christian ideals, but a major christian concept is that all are sinners, so wouldn't that statement be false? Would they not be a true christian, just not working the program?

32 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhy did religions evolve from Pantheons of Gods to 1 Deity?
Why do think as mankind developed, did societies move from the idea of many gods to the conceptions of 1 god?
This isn't a question about which religion is correct, but why would these beliefs evolve like that.

13 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIs God really perfect?
He seems flawed by his own admissions - jealous, angry, etc.
If he is truly all knowing, would he not have known that the animals wouldn't have kept Adam happy, that he would have had to have created Eve?
