Is there a shooting range near Grand Forks ND or MN where I can rent a gun?
I'm making a trip down to North Dakota and would like to visit a shooting range. I don't have my own firearm - I would need a shooting range that rents them. Thank you.
3 AnswersHunting1 decade agoWhy do I get a ringing sensation in my ears when I do Kundalini yoga?
Every time I practise Kundalini yoga, I get a loud ringing in my ears. This is accompanied by sound being slightly muffled and a faint feeling of pressure change.
This only happens when I practise Kundalini yoga - I don't get a similar sensation with Hatha yoga or any other types of physical activity.
It's not painful and I don't feel faint, ill, dizzy, lightheaded or otherwise affected. It usually goes away within an hour after I finish. I'm in pretty good physical condition and don't have any medical issues that would seem to be related to ringing in the ears.
I'd really like to know why this happens and if it's something I should be concerned about. I haven't heard of this happening to anyone else practising yoga.
1 AnswerDiet & Fitness1 decade agoWhy does home made bread taste different from commercial bread?
Every single home made load of bread I've eaten - no matter what the recipe - has had a complex, full bodied flavour, whether it's fresh out of the oven or a few days old.
Every single loaf of commercial bread, no matter how "fancy" or special, seems to lack the subtleties and complexities in flavour of home made bread.
With white loaves, it seems to be the subtle yeast flavour that is missing from commercial loaves, but it's not just white bread that has a more complex flavour when home baked.
What's the big difference? Are commercial breads made by some special process that is dramatically different from bread baked at home in a traditional way or using a bread maker? Do they use some really different recipe that leaves out something that home made loaves have in common?
I'm really curious as to why even fresh baked commercial loaves just fail to measure up.
4 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoHow do I deal with an awkward work situation where someone is consistently leaving a mess in the washroom?
I work in a small office with less than 5 people (I'm the only woman), and as such, we have one unisex washroom, which is fine. My issue is that someone keeps peeing on the floor. Several times a day I'll go into the washroom and find drops of pee around the base of the toilet, which I then have to clean up so that I don't end up putting my shoes into it.
I'm finding this lack of washroom courtesy really frustrating and upsetting (I don't feel I should have to clean urine off the floor every time I want to go to the bathroom) but I'm not sure how to best broach the subject with my boss and co-workers. I don't know who is doing it, and I don't want to embarrass anyone (though I realize that this is going to be embarrassing no matter how delicately I approach it.)
Should I leave a note in the bathroom or send out a email to everyone or talk to everyone privately? I really have no idea what the proper etiquette is in this case. I don't want to just leave this issue, because I can't ignore it and it's making me angry.
* I know for sure that this is pee and not just a leaky toilet or anything like that. The mess is near the base of the toilet but not touching the base of the toilet at all. Someone is very definitely dripping.
5 AnswersEtiquette1 decade agoTN visa applicable for a Canadian wanting to work for a US company remotely?
I am a Canadian interested in employment with an American company. Based on the TN requirements I have looked at, my education and experience allows me to qualify for a TN visa.
However, I do not wish to move to the US - just to work for this company remotely from Canada.
I'm not sure why I would need a visa for this, but apparently according to their hiring practises I do.
So, would the TN visa be relevant to this position? Would I have to actually live in the US for the duration of my employment, or could I go back and forth between the US and Canada?
If the TN visa isn't the correct visa for me, do you know which one would be and where I can go for more details?
2 AnswersImmigration1 decade agoWhat is a good resume "goal" when you are not actively looking for a new job?
I have my resume posted online for potential recruiters to look at. I am not currently looking for or really all that interested in changing jobs but I am open to considering offers that come my way.
Suggestions on what would be a good line to put at the top of my resume as far as addressing the goal? I don't want to put people off by sounding disinterested, but I'm also really not looking for a new job either.
2 AnswersOther - Careers & Employment1 decade agoIs tetracycline ointment for the eyes painful or irritating?
My cat has an eye infection and was given tetracycline ointment today. Normally she's very tolerant and allows me to administer medication as needed, but both times I've gone to put the ointment in her eyes she's been very tense and struggled.
She's been on BNP ointment twice before and putting the ointment in her eye was never an issue, so I'm concerned that perhaps the tetracycline ointment is causing her some kind of pain or discomfort.
Does anyone have any experience with tetracycline vs other antibiotic eye ointments? Is there something in it that might cause some irritation or discomfort? Should I be concerned? Is it possible that she's having some allergic reaction? (There's no new visible irritation or visible allergy symptoms such as swelling or anything like that.)
7 AnswersCats1 decade agoA few questions about becoming a vet tech?
I plan to start a cat rescue a few years down the line and I'm toying with the idea of taking vet tech course, so that I would be better equipped to deal with the day-to-day needs of the cats, such as vaccinations etc.
I understand that most vet tech courses are 2 years (I've seen some 4 year ones as well) and require a fairly large practical component so:
- Are there any schools that offer vet tech programs in Northwestern Ontario (Canada) or near by? If not, can anyone recommend a high quality and reputable online vet tech course (I imagine I'd do the practical component with one of my local vets.)
- Are there any courses that are cat-specific? I don't have any plans to deal with other animals & am solely interested in working with cats .
- When doing your training are you required to attend surgeries like declawing? I have serious ethical issues with unnecessary surgery for cosmetic purposes or human convenience, & I don't think I could help with a declaw in good conscience.
1 AnswerOther - Pets1 decade agoHas anyone used Nutri-Vet Pet-Ease cat pheremone diffuser or NaturVet At Ease calming spray?
Do these products work? Have you also used Feliway, and if so, how do these compare?
I may need to travel with my cat soon, and I'd like to do everything possible to keep her calm and comfortable. I've heard good things about Feliway, but I'm not sure if I will be able to find any here.
Any suggestions/recommendations for travelling with a cat? I don't know yet if I'll be going by car or plane - if it's by car, it's an 8-10 hour drive (probably closer to 10 hours with a reasonable number of stops.) If by plane, it's a 1 hour flight.
4 AnswersCats1 decade agoIs partial rexing common on long-haired cats?
We've had many short haired cats but only one long. The long haired one has straight hair except for on her tummy, where it forms loose ringlets, and on the insides of her front paws (just above the dewclaw), where the short hair forms tiny waves.
I don't recall seeing fur like this on other long haired cats I have handled, but then I don't make a habit of flipping over strange cats so I can look at their bellies.
So is it common for long haired cats to have curly fur on parts of their bodies while having straight hair everywhere else?
3 AnswersCats1 decade agoHas anyone had success in lowering one cat's weight in a multi-cat household?
We have four cats at home, all of which are fairly old and are not as active as they once were. One is obese, two are maybe slightly overweight but not huge and one is as slim as when he was a kitten.
Does anyone have any practical solutions for helping the obese one lose weight without the others being deprived of food or attempting to control portions for each cat (damned near impossible, since they typically don't finish a meal all in one sitting)?
They're all eating a very high quality food from the vet that is designed to prevent urinary problems (one cat must eat this food for the rest of his life, the rest eat it because it's good for them and we haven't figured out any practical way of keeping them on different diets.)
Personal success stories with a similar situation would be most appreciated.
11 AnswersCats1 decade agoCan anyone recommend an affordable & good vet in Thunder Bay, ON?
I need to get my kitty spayed in the next three weeks and I'm looking for a vet that people have had good experiences with and who is affordable. Please post contact information. Positive personal experiences and prices would be a bonus to include, but not necessary.
