Plug in spider repellers do they work?
I was wondering if anyone has tried the plug in spider repellers & if they work, during summer the spiders are quite happy to stay outside, but during the colder & wetter months they decide to come in the house & we're not talking about the little money spiders here, we're talking big black hairy spiders the size of a side plate. I hate having to kill them, (I do where possible try to get them back outside) I've seen these spider repellers advertised, but as they are pretty expensive I don't want to waste my money if they dont work. Also do you have to have one for eac room of the house or does ne do the job, also are they harmful to other kinds of creatures as we have quite a few pets. Any help would be appreciated.
4 AnswersOther - Home & Garden9 years agoAny ideas for a pack lunch for dairy allergy child?
My 4 year old daughter has a severe allergy to cows milk protein, so dairy is a no no. She will be starting full time school in september & will have to take a packed lunch as the school dinners are all dairy based. Making normal everyday meals is fairly simple regarding excluding dairy. (my 3 year old also has the same allergy) But when it comes to snacks etc for her lunch box I have no idea, I don't want to send her with just a ham sandwich & fruit everyday, she'd soon get bored. Any ideas would be great, also if anyone knows where I can buy dairy free snacks (not soya as she is also allergic to that) that would be great, she can tolerate goats milk in small quantities.

3 AnswersToddler & Preschooler9 years agoDo you have to have a sign clearly displayed for non dry paint?
We have a 3ft wall around our front garden & the little mouthy scumbags who visit the druggie house across the road are always sitting on it, ripping my shrubs to pieces.I have asked them nicely to stop sitting on it, all we get is a mouthful of abuse, I am thinking of getting some non drying paint for the top of the wall so the next time the little brats sit on it they will get a nasty surprise. But do I need to legally put up a notice in clear view that there is paint on it or can it be discreetly placed as although I think the brats are probably illiterate I dont want to spoil the surprise. I just want to make sure I'm not going to be doing anything illegal.
5 AnswersOther - Home & Garden9 years agoGuinea pig advice wanted?
We have given a home to 2 baby guinea pigs (9 weeks old) they were abused animals. Due to the conditions they were kept in we would like to not put them in a hutch or cage but instead allow them free run of a guinea pig proof room with an igloo bed, we just want to know if this would be possible or do they have to go in a hutch, advice would be appreciated.
5 AnswersRodents9 years agoIs it safe to for a Brevicaudata & Lanigera chinchilla to breed?
We have 2 female Lanigera chins who were having their daily run about in the living room & our male chin who is a Brevicaudata chin managed to get out of his cage & all three were under the settee where we couldn't get to them so we aren't sure if they mated, my concern is that because they are different breeds of chinchilla that it may cause a problem if they had mated & the girls are pregnant. Anyone who who has some experience with this your advice would be appreciated. Sensible answers only please.

1 AnswerCooking & Recipes9 years agoHelp, how can I make my marriage more tolerable so that I can keep going?
Sensible answers would be appreciated. I have been with my husband for 5 years it was all a bit of a whirlwind really we met in Nov, I lost our baby at 12 weeks the following march we then tried for another baby who was conceived in June & we married in september. We then went on to have another child. But now my life with him is so miserable I dont know how much more I can take. For most of our marriage he is so incredibly nasty & self centered, everything is me, me, me all the time. He doesnt help with the kids or the housework unless there is something in it for him. I have slipped into a depression that I cant seem to shake off. He never wants to go anywhere, & never really talks to me unless its something about himself. After having 2 kids & one hell of a lot of stress I no longer have any libido I wish I did I wish I could enjoy that side of things again. However all I want is a cuddle but for him it has to be about sex. He has even told me I can just lay their I dont have to partcipate as such, but even this doesnt seem to make him realise that he is so self centered, When he doesnt get his own way he has a tantrum (he's 42 by the way) & will say the nastiest, most hurtful things to me, he always says I make him miserable but when I told him he can leave he wont he is obsessed with the fact that I will go and get another bloke even though I have told him I have no interest in sex with anyone not just him. I am financially dependant on him as I gave up work due to a back injury. But I am at the point where I would get someone to look after my children & live on the streets rather than be with him anymore. I just want the chance to be happy instead of wondering what I have done that is so wrong in my life that this is the life I now have to live. He blame me for everything too. He just wont take any kind of responsibility for the way he is. If there is anyone who has been in this situation or who is in this situation then your advice would be greatly appreciated. As I am so unhappy & feel so lonely at the moment & really dont think I can keep going much longer.
14 AnswersMarriage & Divorce9 years agoHelp with ideas for my daughters 4th birthday party?
My daughter would love to have a bear making party but as there will be approx 27 children coming its going to cost me a fortune. So was wondering if anyone knows of any good party entertainers in the west yorkshire area or any good ideas that will keep 27 3 & 4 year olds occupied for 2 hours. Any advice would be much appreciated.
2 AnswersToddler & Preschooler10 years agoDoes anyone know where I can get some good kids recipes that are dairy & tomato free?
Both my son who is 2 and my daughter who is 3 are allergic to milk protein so dairy is a no no. They are both also highly allergic to tomatoes, I'm getting really fed up of having to make the same plain foods all the time & was wondering if anyone knows whether there is a website or good recipe book with dairy & tomato free meals in that are aimed at children. All the dairy free ones I've found all contain tomatoes. Anyone who has a recipe they could give me would be much appreciated too.
I have to point out that I am a very basic cook so not looking for something too complicated!!!!
6 AnswersCooking & Recipes10 years agoDoes anyone else have a Syrian hamster that goes crazy when they smell hand soap?
I have just bought a 12 week old Syrian hamster for my daughter, so far seems to have a sweet nature hasn't been aggressive at all. But I went to check on her & give her a bit of attention (we only bought her today so wanted to give her a bit of quiet time) I had just washed my hands with hand wash & she went crackers falling over herself trying to sniff my hand. Then trying to climb up my hand with her nose stuck in my hand. I took my hand out & she was still on her hind legs trying to reach my hand. I was just wondering if anyone else had had the same experience with their hamster & if she would have tried to take a nibble of me if I'd left my hand in whilst she climbed up. I don't want her to get into the biting or nibbling hands habit as I worry my daughter would get bitten.

6 AnswersToddler & Preschooler1 decade agoAnyone know a vet who specialises in chinchilla care in england?
Hi we sadly lost one of our chinchillas this morning despite taking her to the vet. The vet was a real cow who didnt have experience of exotic pets. She was telling me all this stuff about what we were doing wrong by reading out of an exotic pet book. Everything she said contradicted what it says in the chinchilla books we have, so |I'm looking for the contact details of a vet who specialises in chinchillas so I can contact them for advice as we dont want to lose our other chinchillas. |If anyone can help that would be great.
3 AnswersOther - Pets1 decade agoNeed recommendation for a good twin pushchair. Preferably a tandem. Also needs to be carseat compatible. ?
I use the bus alot so would have to fit comfortably onto a bus. It will be for a newborn & a 16 month old. Have been looking at the jane twin two but its a bit out of my price range. So I would really appreciate some recommendations from parents with two differently aged children who use public transport.
5 AnswersOther - Pregnancy & Parenting1 decade agoIs there anyone who is rh negative who didnt have anti d injection during pregnancy then had another baby?
I have just found out I'm pregnant again and as we only wanted one child I chose not to have the anti d injection. Unfortunatley our contraceptive failed & now we have another on the way. I was hoping that someone out their may have been in the same situation as me and could advise me whether they can give you the anti d at the start of your second pregnancy to prevent any harm to the baby. I did ask the doctor but he didnt have a clue and was quite obnoxious. I am booked in to see the midwife on friday but if any one could help me it would save a week of stress and worry. Thanks
