11 AnswersPolls & Surveys1 decade agoIs there something you desire that you never tried for?
I frequently wonder what it would be like to raise my own bunch of sea monkeys, but I've never gotten around to purchasing the fellows. I need to get on that dream.
How about yourself?

14 AnswersPhilosophy1 decade agoWhat is this piece of art called?
It features a girl wearing a flowered hat. She is holding up her dog, who is black and brown; he might be a Scottie, but I'm not sure. The scene takes place in a cafe (or at a table, anyway) and the picture is in reddish hues.
It hangs in the back of my French classroom, so it might be by a French artist. Do you know who the artist is and what the piece is called?
2 AnswersPainting1 decade agoWhat author have you discovered this year?
I'm reading One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest at the moment, and I'm thrilled with Ken Kesey. His writing style, at least so far, is exactly the kind I love. The imagery is wonderful.
Is there an author you're happy to have discovered this year? Did you perhaps rediscover an author?
21 AnswersBooks & Authors1 decade agoHow do I form a school club?
For awhile now, I've wondered why there isn't a creative writing club at my school. I know many people who would be interested in joining as well as teachers who would gladly participate, but how would I go about forming a club like this? I don't even know where to begin.
Thanks ahead of time for any information you can provide.
5 AnswersOther - Education1 decade agoDoes an author's personal life/beliefs deter you from reading their work?
I've been meaning to read Ender's Game, by Orson Scott Card, for awhile now. It seems to have a large fanbase, and I've heard some very positive things about the book. I don't mind science-fiction, so I figured I might as well check it out.
In a recent question, however, I heard about Orson Scott Card from some contacts of mine (Origin and ALEX). Apparently, the man is quite homophobic. He even believes laws against homosexuality should still exist, and also serves on the board of directors for the National Organization for Marriage, the group behind this darling commercial:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wp76ly2_NoI&feature...
After hearing all of that, I wasn't certain I wanted to read Card's novel anymore. Part of me says I shouldn't purchase the book or even borrow it from the library, as supporting Orson Scott Card is the same as endorsing his ideas about homosexuality. Another part of me doubts that many people take him seriously in the first place.
Anyway, how do you personally feel about reading books when you disagree with the author's ideals? If you did disagree with an author's beliefs, would you feel okay with supporting that author by purchasing their book or borrowing it from the library?

19 AnswersPhilosophy1 decade agoWhich smells recall memories for you?
And what are those memories?
The smell of Elmer's glue, the kind that comes in a brown bottle with the brush attached to the top, reminds me of sixth grade. We had an assignment to make our own magazine, and I used multiple bottles of the stuff. I just used it again tonight for the first time in years, and it was so familiar. Just as potent as it was in sixth grade!

Or, if you like, you can replace the main character in a Disney movie that already exists. If that's the case, what would you do differently?

24 AnswersPolls & Surveys1 decade agoWhat is your favorite line from a song?
I've always loved "Hey baby, I like your lips" from the song Funtime, by The Cars. I think it's because that particular line invokes shoulder wiggles, and I happen to like wiggling my shoulders as I sing.
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find it on Youtube or similar sites, or I would link you to it. Brownie points go to the person who actually can find a link to the song.

7 AnswersPolls & Surveys1 decade agoWhich characters from separate books could be twins?
It can be because of looks or personality.
I just saw the cover of The Giver, and I was struck by how much the man on the cover looks like Dumbledore (or Michael Gambon, anyway).

29 AnswersWords & Wordplay1 decade agoIf you could add a character to a different book for one day...?
...Which character would you use, and whose world would you place them in? How do you think they would react?
Personally, I would place James Bond in Emma Woodhouse's world for one day, just for the entertainment. The man would go insane.
