  • How do I get a car I bought from a dealer out-of-state registered?

I purchased/financed a used car from a dealer in Ohio, and live in Michigan. I paid all the fees and such, but haven’t received the title in the mail yet. I still have the temporary plate on the back.

Do I have to wait for the title in the mail or can I go to Secretary of State with the paperwork the dealer gave me, proof of insurance and get a plate for it? I’ve called the dealer asking about it but they just transfer me to the salesman who’s currently on a vacation.

  • I’m on an IRS installment agreement, but they took my state tax refund. Should I appeal?

I owe on my taxes from 2014, 2015 and 2016. I am on an installment agreement for each of the three years, as one automatic monthly payment. My 2017 year, i would’ve gotten around $2,000 back, but because I owe, they kept it, which is perfectly fine by me, and expected.

However, every year, I’ve always gotten about $1200 back from a state refund. This year (2017 tax year), I just got a letter from both the state, and IRS telling me they levied it, and put it towards my total balance owed.

I’m not necessarily mad about it, but I was really hoping to use that money for some home repairs that are much needed. I got a letter from the IRS today saying that I can appeal it. Has anybody ever appealed and won? This stuff is so confusing and intimidating to me. Thanks in advance!

  • What was the old website back in like 2008~ that was anonymous like “Sarahah”?

Back in the MySpace days, sometime around like 2007-2009 there was a website or something where you could say things to people anonymously, basically exactly like the new “Sarahah” app, does anyone remember what it was called? We were talking about it today and none of us can remember!

  • How to keep birds away from window AC unit?

My house doesn’t have central air. We have one large window AC, and the birds absolutely love it. There’s no nests around it, but it sounds as if they’re trying to build them. There’s constant clanging and clattering from them being all around it and that’s so loud when it’s off.

There’s not really a way to put an owl like people have said, unless I just throw it on the top of it, but that would look tacky and I don’t have one, or really have money to blow on one if I found one.

Is there anything I can spray that would keep them away or anything i might have as a normal household item?

    Thanks!

  • What are the small strips of wood on my wall studs in the bathroom?

We were putting up a new shower wall/liner thing and found some light water damage so we pulled the drywall off, and have the studs exposed.

I am ready to install the new drywall, but olthe studs on the back wall (which would be the side of the shower) have these small strips of wood, probably 1/2" thick, and just as wide as the studs.

Some of them broke when I ripped the old drywall off, and I need to replace them. It's as if they are there to simply push the wall out 1/2" or so further.

Is there a name for these strips? I was looking online and can't find ANYTHING related.

  • Game-sharing on Xbox One, wanting to upgrade consoles. How do we continue to share games?

Me and my brother "game share" on our Xbox One consoles. I would like to upgrade to the new white slim model, all the games we have are stored on my external drive, so I won t have to re-download them (I hope), but how do we go about sharing still when I replace my console?

Is it the same process, just log in with his account on mine, make this Xbox home, and then log back into mine? Will it affect his at all? Someone was saying you could only make the Xbox "home" once a year or something.

    Thanks for any help!

  • Is there a way to not have pictures i've liked show up on my friends pages?

I have very religious, conservative family, and I "like" a lot of controversial/dirty type posts/pictures etc. When my friends "like" photos, or comment on posts, sometimes it shows up on my feed "So and So liked this photo" & it shows the photo, and i'm sure my likes/comments show up on their news feeds as well.

I am wondering if there is any way to hide that from happening? I want to be able to "Like" a photo but hide the fact that I "liked" it from my timeline. I know if they happened to see the picture elsewhere, they would be able to see my name in the list of "Likes" but thats fine, they wouldn't ever see the pictures otherwise.

  • Buying a motorcycle, but don't have endorsement yet. Can I drive it a short distance home? (Michigan)?

Possibly trading tomorrow and getting a Honda motorcycle. I know with a car, I believe the law is something like you have 24 hours to drive it home when you sign the title over, without having to have a plate on it or something close to that.

I do know how to ride, I just never got my endorsement, as I never planned on owning a bike. I am wondering what the laws are when it comes to picking one up. I will most likely be within about 5-6 miles of my house when we meet, wondering if its legal for me to ride it home, or if I should go out of my way to find a trailer to rent, truck to borrow, etc making it not really worth my time.

    Thanks!

This is in Michigan by the way.

  • What kind of cable line do I need for DirecTV, and where can I get it? Rearranging our living room?

We have DTV, and don't want to pay or wait for them to come move lines and stuff around, i've ran lines before when they've left extra, I just wanted to know if regular coax cable line works?

We are basically flip-flopping our living room around, theres even a spot for the cable on the other side, just no line ran.

  • Should I use a JL 500/1 on each sub or just one amp for both?

Just picked a package deal up, got a great deal. Never used JL before but they have great reviews. I have two 12W6V2-D4 subs that say 200-600 RMS according to JL. I also have two 500/1 matching amps that are 500 RMS across the ohm ratings. I d love the simplicity of only one amp, but I m thinking since the amp is only 500 RMS it would be much better suited to use one amp per sub.

A few friends are saying no, one amp is a perfect match for the two subs.

  • Driving a car with no muffler across town to exhaust shop, will I get a ticket?

I ve been working on this project vehicle I picked up a couple months back. It needed new catalytic converters which I have installed. However, I am not a welder/fabricator etc so I can t make and install the pipe I need to go from the cats to the mufflers, so right now the car exhaust "dumps" at the two front cats.

My local muffler shop I like is across town, probably 8 or so miles, in an area patrolled pretty well by local police.

Do you think I would get pulled over and get a ticket even though I m going straight to the exhaust shop to have it repaired?

It s a 3.9L V8 engine and the car is a Lincoln LS. It s not some beater or something, it s a very clean (stock) car.

I am located in southeast Michigan.

  • What kind of bolt is this, how do I remove it?

I am changing the oil cooler in a 2003 Lincoln LS 3.9. The cooler has a large threaded hollow rod through it which is also what holds it in place. It has a hollowed out head like an inverted bolt or something how do I get this out?

  • What s a good standalone mic for basic YouTube videos?

I make videos related to cars here and there, usually on my phone but recently picked up a nice Panasonic camera. The video quality is perfect for what I use it for, however the mic sounds like you re talking with your hand over your mouth. Unfortunately it doesn t have a mic input so I ll have to use a portable mic of some sort and edit the audio in later.

I have never looked into Mics before so I have no idea where to start. Would prefer it to be under $100, but will consider more depending on the difference. Wind resistance of some sort would be amazing but totally unnecessary.

  • Is our best bet a voluntary repo?

Girlfriend financed and bought her first car just over a year ago. 2009 Ford Fusion SEL, 3.0 V6 fully loaded and only 40k miles.

Car has been nothing but problems engine wise, and now sits in a gas station parking lot with a large chunk blown out of the bottom of the motor. Was driving home and heard a huge bang, ann the oil dumped on the road, engine seized and shut off and she coasted in a parking spot luckily.

She owes probably $8k+ (First car, little money down, very minimal credit at the time. She was actually looking to trade it in on a newer vehicle in the next couple weeks)

Theres no way we/she could come up with the money for an engine replacement plus the cost of the engine, she recently applied for a smaller ($2000) loan for personal/family reasons and was denied, so thats not an option either to get a loan for the repair.

Is her best bet just to let it get repo'ed? Then suck it up when we get the difference billed to us and set up a payment plan?

She can't afford to pay for a car that she cant drive, she has two jobs to barely make ends meet, so saving up for months and putting money into this one and still being able to get to both jobs won't be possible. I work out of state, so we can't just share a vehicle. (I am paying off some old debts on a very high payment and won't have any extra money until early next year when its all paid off, so my financial help is very limited)

Her credit is still poor, so the repo ding on the credit is our last care.

  • Rough estimate to repair/repaint trunk lid?

Recently picked up a cheap $400 car to fix and flip. Odd series of events have happened, and I decided to keep it and make it my DD.

The trunk lid is aluminum(?) and there are a few spots of corrosion on the back near the license plate surround, and key hole. I would like to get that either repaired if possible, or the whole lid repainted.

Shops around me are all closed when im not at work, so I cant stop in there, and most won t give me any sort of an estimate without seeing it, so im just curious in a ballpark estimate what I might pay to have the lid repainted?

    Am I looking at $200-$300, or $500+?

  • Swapping 2006 Ford Explorer cloth 6 way power seat to a 10 way leather. Need help with wiring?

My cloth seats are junk, wanted black leather and found a pair. Passenger side was very easy, harness just needed a ground and power wire.

Drivers side however is a memory seat, so theres 10x more wiring. I just want to know what wires I need to connect 12v and ground to, to allow the power seat function to work. They are also out of a 2006, but it was an Eddie Bauer or Limited trim package.

If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it! I found a few wiring diagrams online, but they are quite confusing.

  • Downloading game Add-On while away from home? Can I? Xbox One?

I've downloaded things to my Xbox One while away from home before, but the Black Ops 3 Map pack came out today. I have to work late so I would love it to be done so I can play for a bit before I go to bed tonight. Anytime before, I've been able to buy and automatically download things from the Xbox store on my phone while away from home and it worked.

I bought the Season Pass with BO3 back when it came out. When I find the "Awakening" DLC pack in the store, it says $14.99 and if I click it it says confirm purchase you'll be charged immediately etc.

  • Why do houses in California(?) have heaters in the wall instead of furnaces?

Hooked on the show "Flip or Flop" and I believe it s all in California. I noticed most of the houses they do have these big long ugly heaters built into the wall(s) like in a hallway or living room. Is it not common for California homes to have furnaces?

  • How do I change my home insurance with my mortgage company?

My payment was roughly $750/month (Interest, escrow, principle, everything) which pays for the home insurance as well.

Recently, my payment was bumped up to $901 a month. When I called, they said my homeowners insurance went up, and they suggested finding a new company, because the rates i'm paying are high compared to normal rates in my area. (Something like that)

I have car insurance through Progressive, and love them, so I went with them for homeowners insurance as well, as all the rates I called about were very minimal payment differences, plus I would get a bundle discount. The actual insurance is through a 3rd party company, and they are useless. I had a shower leak that messed up the wall and studs, and after 2 months of back and fourth calls and coming out to take photos, they told me they don't cover water damage or some fancy term they used. Paying out the ***, for a joke of insurance.

What do I need to do to find a new insurance company, just find a bunch of them and call? What info do I need, and if I find a better rate, how do I swap with my mortgage company? (Wells Fargo)
