Are there any GCSE exams during the half term in UK?
We have booked holidays for the half term this year 30.05-04.06.11 and it will be sad if they do GCSE exams during the half term as our daughter has to sit her GCSE exams instead coming with us.
6 AnswersPrimary & Secondary Education1 decade agoInsurance companies that would insure on VIN number in UK?
Hello,
I am in process of registering an imported car with DVLA. One of the things they require is a current British Insurance. The problem is that that I cannot find a company that would do this. Most of them say that they require an UK registration. It is catch 22 situation.
Perhaps somebody has experience with this and could suggest companies that would insure on the VIN number, at least untill I get the registration from the DVLA (2-3 days).
9 AnswersInsurance & Registration1 decade agoshort term car insurance in the Netherlands?
Hello,
I bought a Dutch registered car here in UK and it seems the only place I can insure it to drive it to my house is the Netherlands. No insurer in UK wants to issue an insurance on no UK registered car. Can anybody recommend a insurance company in the Netherlands or their web site where I can 1-2 days insurance and do this in English, It would be much simpler to wright a few key words in Google in Dutch but I can't.
Thanks
Thanks
Netherlands1 decade agoShort term insurance in UK on non-UK registered car?
I just bought a LHD dutch registered car from eBay which I intend to export in two months time and register it abroad. There is no point registering it in UK. I was hoping to ask a friend to drive it for me on his comprehensive insurance (driving others cars with their permission with third party only) to my house until I am ready to export it but then I found out that because the car has no insurance on it is not legal to use the driving others car clause of his insurance.
I also tried a few companies in UK offering short term insurance but the refused because it is not registered in UK.
Putting it on the back of a car transported is a bit too expensive.
I intend to try to get a short term insurance in the Netherlands over the phone or internet but because of the language it seems a bit difficult at the moment.
Can please you help me with my options - perhaps I am missing something here.
2 AnswersInsurance & Registration1 decade agohow much is the penalty for missed tax deadline (5 Oct)?
I have never filled a tax return as my tax is collected with PAYE at my work. Last year I had small income untaxed of £300 and now I understand that I have missed the 5 Oct deadline for informing HMRC for this. Can you please advice what is the best course of action and how much penalty I should expect to pay.
6 AnswersUnited Kingdom1 decade agomy dauther has been using her mum's credit card without authorisation?
Our daughter has help herself with her mum’s credit card and we were surprised by UPS trying to deliver a small parcel which we didn’t expect and collect 14.20 pounds VAT and Duty Brokerage charges. After checking the online banking and googling for a bit we discovered that a purchase has been made of colour contact lenses worth £61 from an Australian company without the card owner even knowing anything about it. Putting two and two together and after some hard questioning it turn out that our 14 years old teenage daughter has cut the corner by using her mum’s credit card numbers.
The card is now blocked. The daughter is grounded for a month. We don’t want the lenses and especially we don’t want to pay the Import VAT and duty brokerage charges on top of that. If we don’t collect the parcel probably UPS will return it back to the sender but I doubt that they we be too keen to return all of the money. I am not sure what the transportation cost is involved. At the same time we cannot declare the transaction as fraudulent as it will come back to us and at the end of the day we as parents are responsible of the actions of the daughter. If it wasn’t the extra import Vat and surcharges we were thinking to say that this is the Christmas gift for our daughter.
I am planning to speak with the seller tonight to see what they are prepared to give back but don't have much hopes.
What is the best way out of this mess and how to get maximum amount refunded?
