Hello. I have been away for a long time. Life got a little out of hand and I have had no chance to really do anything. Things should be changing very soon. My apologies to the people that emailed me and I missed them or replied extremely late. I will do my best to make sure that doesn't happen again.

  • Is Defiance worth it?

So, after playing Marvel Heroes and not feeling it which is a massive disappointment after DCOU I am looking for a new MMO. I believe I am done with STO and SW:TOR

I've been kind of on the periphery of Defiance because I was originally way pumped for Fallen Earth, an MMO shooter. It was by far the worst MMO experience I ever had. Got notifications a full YEAR after launch they there were finally addressing pretty serious launch day bugs I reported. So, I kind of expected the same.

I understand there are the launch issues, but I am dying to hear from people who have actually played what they think. Seems like most of it is either people who seriously hate it or think about it at night when they touch themselves.

  • Taking CritiCall test for dispatch what to expect?

I'm taking the CritiCall test for the first time later this week and am wondering what to expect.

I've read that you can't really prepare for it, but I am curious as to what it was like when you took it? Also, what was the typical dress of the people there. I will be coming straight from my current job and that is a job I can't really wear nice clothes to it because they'll get beat up.

Lastly do you get your results then or do you wait? The applications have to be in 5 days after the test, so I wonder how close I will be cutting it. The test is only offered on two days, wish I could have taken in earlier.

  • Loopy idle and loss of rpm with A/C on?

I just changed the battery (almost 4.5 years, not too bad) in my Mom's car this afternoon and afterwards an odd/interesting thing happened. First off, it's an '04 Buick Rainier CXL with the 4.2 I6 and a 117k miles. Did 100k service at 100k.

With the A/C on the idle get pretty loopy, 500-800rpm. Normally rock solid around 600ish. I revved (in neutral) it up to 2-2.25k and it dropped down to around 1-1.25k in 3 steps (about 400 per) over 5 or 6 seconds.

There is no issue when driving, except that there is a little bogging down right off idle. That isn't even a constant, has to be either a sharp turn or a moderate hill. No drop in rpm of loss of power while actually moving.

There was no issue with the revs with the a/c off, it was just as it should be.

I am curious as to ideas/possibilities since I haven't ever come across and issue like this before. Obviously it is relating to the a/c since it doesn't occur when it's off. I just have very little experience in that area.

    Thanks for any assistance.

  • What's the point of playing an objective game in Black Ops if you only go for kills?

I'm curious as to how many of you see people that play objective based multiplayer games (CTF, S&D, Dom, etc.) and only go for kills and never attempt the objective. Why not just play TDM?

I'm attempting to finish out Marathon (to get Pro) and the 15 flag cap medals is far more troubling than expected. Seems like every game at least 2+ people on the team just want to camp some strange spot and work on their K/D.

I guess it would be easier if I didn't have play time the opposite of my friends, but still I just don't see why people enjoy losing the match. Had a match earlier that was basically myself and another guy against 6. The other 4 picked stupid places on Berlin to hid out. They never attempted a cap or a return, even if they killed the carrier and the flag dropped right in from of them. We still managed 2 caps in the whole match.

So, if any of you have insight into what's the benefit of not trying for the objective, please let me know.

  • How to inform a potential employer a previous company worked for is now closed on my resume?

I'm unsure how to designate previous employers on my resume that are now closed. Half of my adult work experience has been at automotive dealers that the economic downturn caused them to close or the owner to sell and move to a tropical location.

I also am unsure as to how to handle it with applications that are handled online. Either the previous numbers are disconnected or it's the dealer that took over. I have some trepidation about marking them as no contact, but also think it would look really bad if they called and got a disconnected number. I guess when the one that is now a different dealer is okay, they will just be informed that the dealer has been closed for a year and a half.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, since I am totally changing career paths.

  • What's this metal thing on a bass?

So I was hanging out with a buddy and his buddy came buy to show off his new 'girl.' Which is his newest bass. There was this strip of metal that went over the strings, about 1.5-2 inches wide maybe. What is it and what is it's purpose?

I couldn't ask him since he is a pompous elitist douchebag. He loves to point out and give me crap that my first guitar is a cheap Strat. I though for trying it out I shouldn't drop large sums of cash, but whatever.

I am curious as to what is it and does.

  • Is the seller responsible for agent's expenses if the house is taken off the market without selling?

This is long, I'm asking for some family friends who are in a predicament and are thinking they might be stuck. Thank you if you make it through the epic question.

Their house on the market right now and they aren't getting much action. One ludicrous (150K below asking and they had to be out the moment escrow closed while paying everything) offer and one that was better, but not enough.

They are having some financial problems (lots of medical bills, around 100k) and this caused them to get behind on the house. But they are in the process of seeing if the qualify for a modification. There is a NOD, but it's not even close to being a short sale.

One of them had surgery and they owed a tad over 200K after insurance for just the surgery. So they talked to a few bankruptcy attorneys. Since they owe a few years income just in medical bills. The attorneys have assured them that they won't lose the house, one of them even mentioned to the lender that they considered bankruptcy and the person at the lender looked at their situation and said it might be a wise choice.

So the talking to the attorneys occurred while the second offer came in. Their agent was absolutely adamant that she tell them all about their financial situation. To the point that they knew how much the bills came to and when and where the attorney meeting happened. Much to my friends dismay this information has spread like wildfire around the area. They have had people drive 5 or 6 hours to look at the place and multiple agents have asked about the financial situation when calling to see if they can preview the house. They are pretty certain their agent played town crier and spread that info around. They are curious if the agent violated any Realtor code or something similar doing that. This is all in California.

Now the situation is if someone offers asking they wouldn't get enough to move to a smaller house, they felt so helpless they let the agent drop the price 4 or 5 times in a month and a half and now the agent's commissions would be about what they would take away. probably not the best choice, but they felt like there was no hope and their agents was pushing the drops with promises that each was was 'the number.'

In a couple weeks the most recent extension on the listing will be up and they are really considering taking the thing off the market. Are they responsible for things like the pictures, mailers, website or the paper ad?

It's funny because they mentioned that other agent's are asking about their financial situation when they call and their agent hasn't contacted them in a couple weeks. The agent's assistant did contact them yesterday and now they are planning open houses again, after 2 or 3 months.

So after all that, I guess they would like to know if they have to pay the agent's expenses or should they just tell the agent they want to push the price up to what it was originally and be firm and leave it on the market forever?

Thanks for reading all that, I hope someone has some info to help my buddies out. When I told them I was going to ask here they are thinking it won't garner any result. Prove them wrong Y!A.

  • Do you watch your adult entertainment privately?

Okay, so I was house sitting for my brother this past weekend the neighbor across the street has a monster TV (at least a 60 incher), facing directly toward a huge bay window. Since I am a night owl I was out watering their plants at 2am. Don't judge it's better to water at night anyway.

So I was just aimlessly looking around whilst watering and see neighbor man sitting on the couch watching porn. The blinds and curtains had been left wide open. Granted it was late, but they live on a fairly busy street.

So, do you close the blinds before you fire up the adult television or leave it out for the world to see?

  • Are you a shadow (following) person?

Two questions for the price of one.

First, are you the type of person that feels this unstoppable desire to follow your family, BF/GF or friends around? Secondly, why the hell do you do it?

What I mean about that is of someone goes into another room do you have to follow and see what they are doing.

If you are not one of those, do you have to deal with one, and does it drive you absolutely crazy?

I must say, I am dealing with one today and I am about ready to smash my head against the wall. I can walk into the kitchen and boom right there behind me. I leave and come back two minutes later and boom. I am fine with pets and children following me, but adults should be able to amuse themselves.

  • What type of cooker are you?

I'm curious to see how many people fit into the 3 main groups of cookers I have seen. This is only pertaining to the use of recipes for things you have little experience (or none) with or rarely make.

First group is the person that religiously follows directions to the letter. There will only be substitutions/changes due to dislike of something or dietary restrictions.

Second, the folks that will do a little adjusting here and there. You use the recipe as a guideline not law.

Third, the people that glace at the recipe and then say to hell with it, I know better then they do. You know the ingredients and that's it, you will figure out amounts and cooking time/temp from some culinary god.

Second question - If it fails do you blame the recipe of any modifications?

I myself am a augmenter and will typically give something 2 more shots max to see if I can make it spot on. Then I figure it's just not something for me tastes.

I have been having to work with some people who just 'know' how to make the things and oddly enough if it's no good blame the recipe they didn't bother to look at, the toss the recipe away.

    So where do you fit?

  • Upgrade from 9600 GSO 768mb?

So my current system is getting a tad long in the tooth (core 2 duo @ 2.66, 4 gig DDR2). I know it's very near time for a DDR3 machine, but that will wait a while longer. I have the case and equipment for OCing the CPU, so that will buy me a little time there.

It's just time for the 9600 to be retired. I've been extremely happy with it and am way out of date with current cards. What are some decent cards that aren't horridly expensive that will last a while in the new system, once the cash is procured? I'm also running 1900x1200 on a Samsung T260HD.

Also, I'd prefer it to not be ATI, had a couple bad runs with them. Unless they have gotten more reliable in the last couple years?

  • MW2: Are team drop grabbers on a rise?

Is it just me or are boneheads that try and gank your crates on a rise?

Over the last 5 or 6 playing sessions I have had at least one run in with some idiot who hides out near a good spot to drop and then runs up to try and grab yours.

The most recent guy sent my whining messages because my Care Package dropped a Sentry and I had Sentry Gun as well, so I had 2 at once. So damn annoying.

So, do any one you try and grab teammates crates? I don't mean when they get picked off and take it from being stolen by the opposition. If so, is there really any fun to it?

  • Questions about religions, any faith can answer. Many opinions would be great.?

I am agnostic, at least I think so, due to my massive skepticism.

I have asked these to all my fairly religious friends, the holiday only church going friends have proven fairly useless for this. I figured why not ask the most people possible and maybe I'd get an answer or two that I could see the sense of it.

This is my big qualm with religion is this, your life is basically one big fat test and if you screw up you go to hell, so the point of life is not about living but living in a certain way. So basically all of everything was made to test us, right? But, I could be a totally horrid person and do terrible things on purpose, but repent and I you're golden. I just don't get that, please explain. It seems like a pretty easy to use get out of jail free card.

What's the deal with bad things happening to good people, and it being called a test? I thought whoever is in charge was more of an observer and why if the person is doing their best to be righteous should they get an extra helping of unfortunate events? It would seem to me that if you are 'on the path' a little bit of goodness would be in order.

Not including events that have been caused by people. What's the deal with huge natural disasters, flaw in the design of the planet or what? But if it's design is perfect, what point do they serve? I don't buy that all the people that are killed in them had it coming (my holiday church only people's favorite answer to that one).

Now I have a question about suicide, not if it's right or wrong, but what constitutes it. Is the guy that rushes a machine gun nest knowing there is zero chance of him doing anything but getting killed committing suicide? Yes, it's an act of heroism, but he is doing something that he knows will kill him. Is it more of an intention instead of action situation? If your intentions are noble you are saved from eternal damnation?

Thanks for any replies, especially ones that read all of it and answered seriously.

  • Pitfalls of being a good friend?

First off, I have been away for a long time. Life got hectic and I lost a lot of time.

So I came to a conclusion the other day, being a truly good friend can backfire, for lack of a better term, on you. I have a few friends that have had some serious problems lately. I being the best friend I can be help them with these problems.

Over time these problems have all pretty much been solved or addressed as well as possible. Since then events in my life have gone sideways since then, realizing my career is not right is the big one.

These great friends have pretty much dropped me. I talked to 1 daily for months I haven't heard from in a 10 days, get texts that say, we'll talk soon. Another just wants to ignore the fact I have problems, because I am the stable friend.

I find it odd and sad that friends for years can do this. Also I am bothered a little with myself, that if they need me I will help them without question.

    Thanks for reading my epic.

    Your thoughts please?

  • The term 'loosing your virginity'?

So I have wondered about this for a long time. Why do we say loose our virginity. I mean seriously, that is one thing that most of the time people remember exactly where it went, in great detail, be it good or bad.

Is it because you can never get is back? This is a silly example, but it proves my point well. If you throw out or give away a pair of shoes, you will never get them back, but you do not loose them.

Is it some puritanical thing that is an attempt to make us feel that is it still wrong to have sex?

I have wondered about this for a long time and figured might as well ask.

  • Female friend acting unusual?

I have what I consider to be a unusual situation with a female friend, one I am extremely close with.

A little background about this, I had a very long (7.5 yr) relationship that I ended a while ago. I am was happy being what I call 'retired,' from relationships, up until a few months ago, when I started to think about ending my 'retirement.'

I talk to and see her frequently. If I am in a phase where I think I will stay 'retired,' she gets very flirty. Then when I think I will get back into things she acts rather reserved.

I will admit, I find it slightly funny at times. I have had friends come up to me and ask me if we are dating or if we are fighting. I am just curious as to why she does this, any advice would be greatly appreciated.
