  • Is it possible my son's voice could be breaking?

My youngest son is 11 in January. Over the past week his voice has become very croaky and appears to be lowering slightly. Could it be possible for his voice to be starting to break at such an early age?

He is very tall for his age and very strong & well built, often being taken as being much older.

My oldest son was 13 when his voice started to break so I can't go by his experience.

We have discussed puberty with him , though not too in depth because of his age as we like to keep it appropriate for his levels of understanding. Obviously if he is going through things early then we will need to go into greater depth.

    What do people think please?

  • How can I get and downloaded mp3 format track to play once it's burnt to cd?

I've downloaded a track in mp3 format and burnt it to a cd but my stereo won't play it, only other format available was m4a, will this make a difference if i burn that one or do i just give up?

In case anyone's wondering it's a slower version of 'In the mood' by Glenn Miller & very hard to get hold of on cd hence the need to download. Any advice please? Cheers.

  • dance routine advice - How do i avoid slipping?

This may seem a strange question but here goes...

My friends and I are performing a very energetic dance routine next week and the problem is the heels of my shoes. The performance area is a very highly polished dance floor and I wondered if anyone had any tips on how to make the heels of my shoes a little less of a problem with slipping...or should I just go for flatties?

    Thanks

  • Party food ideas for daughter's 16th ?

Anyone have any suggestions of food to serve at my daughter's 16th birthday party. I'm catering for about 50 in total and wanted to keep it to simple finger foods as I know from past experience that sandwiches tend to get thrown away at the end of the night. Also don't want to go overboard with the cost. Simple, easy to prepare stuff is best as it's got to be transported to the venue. Thanks in advance.

  • My family's first time abroad - any recommendations?

We are planning a holiday next year and it will be our first time abroad (except for my hubby who's been before). We were thinking of either Greece or Turkey. There is me & my hubby, our 16 year old daughter and 10 year old son.

We're after somewhere that's family friendly, close to beach & sightseeing, not bothered about nightclubs etc (prefer not to be near a lot though)

I know it can be a bit dodgy when travelling abroad for the first time as some of the spots don't always live up to brochure description.

Just wondered if anyone could recommend anywhere or suggest where to avoid?

    Thanks very much in advance.

  • Do Inland Revenue still pay hardship payments for new claimants of tax credits?

We are having a hell of a time with the Tax Office over our new claim for Working Families Tax Credits.

We were never informed by anyone that there was a fast track system and they are saying that our claim is not on their system after 2 weeks. We had a phonecall from them 2 weeks ago and were told that we should hear back within 7-10 days.

On their website it says that you can get a payment within 2 weeks if you stated on your form that you have just returned to work after being on Income Support. However when my hubby went to our local tax office today they said they no longer do hardship payments but gave him an appointment for tomorrow anyway.

Just wondered if they were trying to fob us off and if it would be worth him missing another day off work to go for the appointment tomorrow?

    Sorry to be long winded.

    Thanks.

  • swine flu - when's it safe for my son to go back to school?

My son is getting over swine flu and finishes his Tamiflu tomorrow.

All the nastier symptoms have now gone but he is now left with the cough. He is eager to go back to school tomorrow, should I wait till Tuesday until he has finished his treatment or let him go in tomorrow?

I only ask as I have had conflicting advice from GP's, Pharmacy and flu helpline.

    Thanks.

  • How do I plant water lilies?

I've just bought 2 bare-rooted waterlily plants and need some advice about the best way to plant them.

They have 4 inches of stem growth on them and the beginnings of a couple of leaves each.

What would be the best potting method and do I put them at their full depth straightaway or do it gradually?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Can anyone advise please over someone refusing to let us remove a caravan we purchased?

We purchased a caravan from my hubby's boss about 6 or 7 months ago with the intention of using it for a holiday last year which never came to be. It was still being stored at the guy's house.

When my hubby asked about picking it up as we had decided to sell it on, the guy we brought it from said he would buy it back from us for what we paid for it when his business got out of difficulties. That was last November and he has been fobbing us off since then.

Hubby went round to pick it up today and he has flatly refused either for us to pick up the caravan or to give us our money back.

We didn't have a receipt as it was a sale between friends.

    Where do we stand legally?

    All advice appreciated.
