  • How is this an example of infinite wisdom and morality?

( just asked a similar question and this is follow up)

    Matthew 10:35-37

"For I came to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and a man’s enemies will be the members of his household. He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me."

How can it more moral to love your God than to love your own family?

I know most of you might say that I haven't studied scripture (I wouldn't be asking this question if I haven't studied!) and that some of you will quote another passage that is just the opposite of this verse. So how does that represent the mind of God if you can clearly see a contradiction with your own mind?

  • Christians, what do you make of this bible verse?

    Matthew 10:34-37

"Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I came to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and a man’s enemies will be the members of his household. He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me."

  • Why not burn pictures of Osama Bin Laden?

Since it was he and not the entire religion of Islam. Why not burn his picture instead of linking all muslims in with those terrorists. The majority of muslims are fine and decent human beings. It will only make things worse.

  • Did anyone catch Obama's speech at Normandy?

"Citizens of all faiths and of no faith came to believe we could not remain bystandards to the savage perpetration of death and destruction. And so we joined together and sent our sons to fight and die so men and women who have never met, could be free."

    He closed with this...

"Human destiny is not determined by forces beyond our control...it has always been up to us."

  • How do you like this quote?

" Ideology is a poor substitute for kindness and decency. For at the end of the day, it's our actions and not our beliefs that define who we are and what we are."

It comes from an episode of Star Trek DS9.

  • If life begins at conception, then why don't we start counting birthdays then?

Meaning, everyone should be 9 months older than we really are. According to the ways we keep records, we don't exist until the moment we are outside of the womb. That is our birthday, not conception.

  • Do you like the Miley Cyrus song, "The Climb"?

It has a very good message in it. That the most sacred thing in the journey of life is the journey itself.

I know she is a Christian and faith is important in her life but as an Atheist, I relate to that same idea.

"Ain't about how fast I get there. Ain't about what's waiting on the other side. It's the climb."

  • What if we all had faith in each other?

Just imagine if you were walking down the street and saw a complete stranger. You knew with every fiber of your being that that person was not going to hurt you in anyway. And that person felt the same way about you. It is always said that god has faith in us, even if we don't have in him.

Would we even need religion or god?

  • If something can't come from nothing then where did God come from?

Some people seem to say that since "something can't come from nothing" and the Universe didn't create itself, then there must be something outside of it to create it, and that something is god.

But doesn't that always leave you asking the next question, where did God come from? Surely he wasn't just sitting around one day and decide to create everything. Or did he create himself? That seems more unlikely.

The only logical solution is that the Universe was never created in the first place. It has always existed and always will. You could say that the Cosmos is Infinitely Old.

  • Why do people think things are getting worse in the world?

I know it seems like there is always an earthquake or tornado or war going on where people are dying. Maybe it isn't that there are more and more events happened, maybe it's because of technology.

I am sure 100 years ago there were earthquakes, tornados or wars where people died. But since it took a lot long for news to travel, we would only hear about it days, weeks and even months later.

It isn't that there are more events, it's just that we know about it faster. An earthquake hits Japan and we know about it within minutes.

  • Isn't it obvious on where the dragon myths came from?

I am sure that thousands of years ago, humans ran across the fossils of large ancient beasts. Not knowing that they were dinosaurs, they used their imagination to fill in the blanks. "Yeah, they fly and breathe fire."

  • Hey creationists, didn't you know that Evolution is mentioned in the Bible?

Job 30:29 "I am a brother to dragons, and a companion to owls."

  • Which would you rather be known as?

    An American or a Christian?

(And if you have a different nationality or religion use those instead)

But if you had to choose one or the other and that would be how you are known, which would it be?
