  • How to deal with an unruly roommate?

I'm on month 7 of an 11 month lease and my roommate is pretty awful. She doesn't pay rent or utilities on time, slams doors, plays loud music late at night, is just genuinely disrespectful. My other roommate and I have tried to reason with her and meet half way but she won't budge. Recently, she's stopped paying her share of utilities all together and has left the bill up to my roommate and I and we just can't afford it. I just got diagnosed with skin cancer so I'm a little tight on money, but I don't want my utilities shut off. I live in housing specially for college students and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how I can deal with this issue? I can't move out, I can't find anyone to sublease my apartment, probably because they meet the awful roommate and run away.

  • Can defendants know the names of their victims?

A few months ago, a guy lunged in front of my car while I was turning a corner and exposed himself. I called the police and he was arrested that night. He ended up taking a plea bargain and pleaded guilty to public indecent exposure.

I had to talk to a sketchy Private Investigator who didn't do a very good job on asking me questions. (She didn't ask me what he looked like or anything and harassed me until I told her over a text message) Because we are both students at the same college, the school launched an investigation into the matter to see if the defendant needs to be punished in any way. (I talked with them on this matter back in January) When he went in to talk to the school about what he did, he told them both my name and the name of the person in the passenger seat in my car.

I was wondering if the fact he knew our names (as victims) is legal?

    Thanks

  • Anxiety and depression?

For a few years now, I've had depression and anxiety. I've been on medication for a few years and everything was working out really well. A few weeks ago, I found my depression creeping up on me in ways I've never experienced. I'm anxious nearly all the time and I have entire days of crying spells a couple of times a week.

I know that this is a time that I REALLY need to see a doctor and get a new prescription. But here's my issue.

My GP is back home and I'm at college. I don't have time or the means to go home to see her to get a prescription redone. I also can't stand/don't trust our health center here at the college I go to. (Went in with hip pain and told me I might have MS....as a 19 year old. My hip was just dislocated and they didn't notice.) So I really don't want to go see them. My option is to go to urgent care and have the info forwarded to my doctor so I can call her and have over the phone check ins with the new medication- which I have done before.

Is this a reasonable option? Or should I just go to the health center and hope they don't prescribe me something ridiculous.

  • I'm being subpoenaed but wasn't at home to be given the subpoena ?

I'm being subpoenaed as a witness for a trail, but the subpoena was given to my roommate and not myself. It was only after I said that someone called me to pick up a subpoena from the police office that my roommate remembered to give it to me, so it's very possible she would have never given it to me which would have landed me in a ton of trouble. The subpoena wasn't signed or anything and she didn't sign anything.

I would really like to not have to testify because I was the victim in a crime and I'm testifying against the accused and he will be in the room. The entire case was mishandled like the police never spoke to me besides the 911 call and the defense attorney has sent a few PIs my way to talk to me, all of which I communicated with.

Could this be a reason to refuse to testify or do I absolutely have to testify regardless?

  • Sorority Alumnae benefits?

I'm in a local sorority and we don't have any benefits set up for our alumnae. I was wondering what national houses, or local houses, do to benefit their Alumnae?

  • Am I safe from this road rage situation?

I was driving today on I-5 and I got pretty violently cut off by a blue BMW. I immediately changed lane where he did the same, got in front of me and slowed down, by a lot. I ended up in the far right lane and cut across to the far left to get as far away from this person as possible. He sped up, going over 100 MPH and drove parallel to my car and began taking pictures of me and my car. I don't know this person at all and did nothing to provoke him, unless changing lane counts. What got him to go away was me putting on my blutooth headset, dial three numbers and press the call button. I called the state dispatch to report what had happened. But the fact he was taking pictures really scares me for some reason. Too much Breaking Bad maybe? Do you think I'm safe?

  • How to tell your brother you were raped?

I am very involved with my younger brother's extra curricular activities. I'm always the one cheering the loudest. I became good friends with his sports coaches and one of them raped me over six months ago on my birthday. He has since been fired for what he did, but I requested it to be kept under the rug to protect my brother. There was not enough DNA evidence to charge him formally, but enough that he was completely removed from his position and made to live in a completely different state.

I have already told my parents, but I think it's time I told my brother. He's old enough to understand and I think he should know. I'm having a harder time telling him what happened than I did with my parents. Any suggestions?

  • antidepressants and suicidal thoughts?

Recently I began taking Citalopram, a generic antidepressant for clinical depression and I've been experiencing suicidal thoughts. I know you're supposed to go to your doctor right away, but I'm at college and my doctor is over two hours away. Could I go to urgent care or would I need to go to my doctor?

  • What to do about an incredibly difficult rental company?

Where do I start with this rental company and their idiocy.

The first week that I moved into the apartment my car was broken into (locks were jimmied) in the parking garage that you need a security code to get into and is also monitored by security cameras. In total, $350 worth of stuff was taken. Within a few days, my apartment itself was broken into and someone took my iPad and other things left on the kitchen table. I have filed police reports on both incidents and am yet to hear back. They also stated that there probably wouldn't be much they could do about the break in because there are other crimes on campus (I live in a college town) that take priority, which I do understand. I also called the rental company to see if they could review the tapes, no call back.

This is the same rental company that gave us an apartment with a bathroom with a door that wouldn't close, a flooding sink, and a nonworking TV plug-in.

Tonight, I went to my car to get groceries and my car was yet again broken into. Nothing but some change was taken from my car, but everything was in moved and messed with. Back seats were folded down to get into the back, front seats were moved, glove box was left open. The locks were jimmied again as well.

I know of two other cars being broken into during the month that all of the tenants have moved in and the rental company is very aware of that. I'm deeply concerned about not only my safety, but that of everyone else. Because if someone walks down into the parking garage and finds someone breaking into a car, there really is no where for them to run away in a fast manor at all. So they would probably end up trying to hurt whoever ran in on them breaking into a car. I'm at the very beginning of a one year lease and I don't have the money to give them to terminate my end of the lease.

Does anyone have any suggestions on getting this taken care of?

  • Giving back to my parents?

This last week has been one of the most stressful weeks of my life. My car was broken into and about $350 worth of stuff was taken and then a few days later one of my roommates left the door unlocked and our apartment got broken into and my iPad was stolen which had all of the books I needed for this term on it. In total, I had $650 worth of my own stuff stolen from me. I'm a sophomore in college and started school this week. I called my parents on Sunday morning sobbing, begging them to bring me home. They dropped everything (they both have busy schedules and a lot to do that day) and came down to help lift my spirits and to make sure I was okay. They took me to dinner and surprised me with a brand new iPad 4 and a case.

I'm going home this weekend for a family event and I really want to do something special for my parents. I don't have a lot of money, but I appreciate the fact that they dropped everything and drove a total of four hours in a day and got me a brand new iPad when we do have some large expenditures coming up. I'm making my mom a no sew blanket because she was saying that she was looking for a new and warmer blanket. Does anyone have any ideas?

  • Stuff has been stolen from my apartment, what can I do?

So I have just moved into a new apartment and in the apartment complex, my car got broken into and quite a lot of stuff was taken from my car. The rental company has been little to no help. I've been having work done in the apartment too and now all of a sudden I cannot find my iPad and it is now called "Holmes Family iPad" on my iCloud. Can I at least get the stuff that was stolen out of my car deducted from my rent? I have tried to get them to send me the information on renters insurance and they will not send me the information.

    What can I do?

  • First time renter and having a lot of problems?

I just moved into my first apartment about 2 and a half weeks ago. We got the keys on the 5th of September and noticed problems in the apartment right away. We don't have a working garbage disposal, our dishwasher floods the sink and smells gross, our bathroom door doesn't close without a lot of force, our TV wall input socket that does not work, and we had a few lights out. We reported issues on the 5th and have had workmen come in an do a look-over of the apartment but they never came back to fix anything. I have repeatedly talked to the managers and recently the rental company itself and as of today only one issue has been fixed.

I sent an email to the rental company stating that if I didn't hear back from them we were going to talk to a lawyer, just so we could get SOMETHING fixed and today our garbage disposal was fixed. But we still can't watch TV that we pay for and we can't even use the bathroom with a closed door and lights are still out.

We also have parking that we pay for. We have an underground parking garage that is supposedly protected by security cameras. I went to get a parking spot and management said that they couldn't find their sheet of all of the spots and told me to park outside behind the parking garage. The first night I parked outside, my car got broken into and a lot was taken.

My university has a free legal department for basic things like tenant issues, name changes, etc. We have rent due in a few days and in the state of Oregon, we can legally withhold rent until we have our problems fixed.

Do you think it is worth talking to a lawyer to get them to help out? This has been one thing after another and I can't get anyone from management or the rental company to do anything.

  • Car making strange noise in 3rd and 4th gear?

My car has recently been making a strange noise when it's in 3rd 4th and 5th gear. It sounds like road noise mixed in with engine windmilling. When I press in the clutch to change gear, the sound doesn't dip. I haven't lost any power, car still behaves completely normal. When the engine is in neutral and idling, I can't hear the noise, the exhaust sounds good, and all of the fluids look good. What could it be?

  • How do I tell my parents I was raped?

I went to a friends house on my birthday and we made out and it went farther. Half way through I decided I couldn't sleep with him and told him no. He didn't stop so I started crying. He still didn't stop. I cried the entire way home and I woke up the next morning as if anything had happened.

The problem I have with telling my parents is I volunteer for a non profit which is where I met my friend. There had been untrue rumors going on that I was having an affair with one of the other members and although my parents defended me, I don't know how they are going to take it with everything that has gone on with friends in this organization. I guess I just need the courage to just tell my parents. But I also just don't know how.

  • Check engine light on after accident?

I was t boned over the weekend in a parking lot. The back drivers side passenger door was damaged and the car is drivable. I drove home and haven't touched the car since the accident on Saturday. I drove to work today and my engine light came on. I've been up to date on all of my engine and car care. Could this have anything to do with the accident?

  • How much would it cost to replace a front passenger door a 2007 Jeep Patriot?

about a year ago during my first month of driving, I collided with a toll booth and took off the wing mirror of my Dad's 2007 Jeep Patriot. It also pushed the door handle into the door and has a visible dent. I would really like to pay for the replacement of the door for my Dad. How much would it cost?
