I'm a 27 year old genderqueer with a passion for pet and animal care. I've volunteered with rescues and wildlife rehabilitation as well as spent time observing at my local veterinary office. I've spent quite a few years of my life educating myself on the most up to date care practices in regards to various types of domestic pets and I've owned quite a few myself. I run a pet care website with pages written by people knowledgeable on each animal (having written the pet rat one myself) at: http://www.petinfopackets.com/
3 year rabies vaccine received too early after last? Harmful?
My rescue dog received a 3 year rabies vaccine yesterday since our vet determined by her rescue paperwork that she was due. However, we noticed today that the rabies information on her tags is different than what's on her paperwork and would indicate that she had a 3 year just this last year.
Should we be seriously concerned?
She was behaving sore, restless, and fatigued today but we were told to expect some of these things after vaccination so it's hard to tell if these are signs of a problem or not.
2 AnswersDogs8 years agoSafe doggie styling gel?
We'd like to spike our dog's hair into a mohawk as part of a costume we're thinking of for Halloween but:
A: Need whatever we use to be pet safe.
and
B: Need whatever we use to wash out easily.
Any ideas?
2 AnswersDogs9 years agoBully sticks left in heat?
So, uhh… the odorless bully sticks I ordered came. The problem is, they probably came either early today or possibly a day or two ago and had been sitting in the collective town house mailbox outside for a while before being discovered and brought in.
They’re supposed to be the odorless ones but when I opened the package they were mailed in I could smell them immediately and they were pretty warm to the touch. Are they safe to give to a dog anymore?
3 AnswersDogs9 years agoHow to say 'I love you, Grandma' in Italian?
My grandmother passed away this Tuesday and I'm writing a letter to place with her. I'd like to end the letter with "I love you, Grandma' in Italian because she used to teach me words in Italian when I was little and this was something very special between us. Could someone please help make sure I get this right? Thanks.

3 AnswersCats1 decade agoApplaws and Almo Nature canned cat foods?
I can't seem to find a definitive answer on this. Are these nutritionally complete canned foods or are they meant to be a supplement to a nutritionally complete cat food?
4 AnswersCats1 decade agoHigh quality cat foods in France?
I'm trying to help a friend who lives in France find a high quality cat food for her cat. The problem is, I live in the US and I have no idea what they have in France. I'm pretty sure she has her Siamese on Science Diet or Royal Canin right now.
She emailed me today mentioning she'd seen an ad for Supreme's Happy Cat Grain-Free in a German magazine and asked if it would be good as she would certainly cross the border to grab some.
I looked it up and... well. It's grain-free, but it doesn't look all that wonderful. The poultry is un-named and there doesn't seem to be any canned varieties of the food:

So... does anyone have any advice or know of any high quality foods that can be found in France?

To those who fed Natura products, since Natura Pet Products sold out to Proctor and Gamble, what have you switched your cat's food to?
Note: Natura Pet Products was the original creator of Innova, EVO, California Natural, Karma, Healthwise and Mother Nature, for those confused. Proctor & Gamble puts out Iams and Eukanuba.

2 AnswersDogs1 decade agoJumping on the PETA bandwagon?
Why do you think so many people jump on the PETA bandwagon without doing any research into the organization they're supporting?
Also, why do you think so many PETA supporters continue to support the organization even after being shown the overwhelming evidence against it? Is PETA just that good at brainwashing people?

14 AnswersDogs1 decade agoWhat do you think about the declawing bans in California?
I am absolutely thrilled.
San Francisco, Los Angeles, Santa Monica, and Beverly Hills have all passed the bans on declawing cats in their cities. Malibu (after initially declining the ban) is working on a resolution.
FINALLY, the U.S. is catching on!
30 AnswersCats1 decade ago'People' food for dog with yeast infection?
A friend of my Mother has a dog who is currently suffering from a yeast infection (ears and elsewhere), and she swears up and down that there's some kind of 'people' food that she read about that is said to help with this. She's asked us to look into it. She can't remember what it is, but offered yogurt and ricotta as possibilities. Does anyone know anything about this?
The dog has seen a vet as well, of course.
