  • Why are gas stations charging more for credit card purchases than for cash purchases?

I thought it was because the credit card companies charge for EACH transaction, but if that was the case, why the extra charge on each GALLON rather than the whole purchase?

  • Anybody ever heard of cretious material?

A friend of mine had cataract surgery and a couple of weeks later (after much pain), the ophthalmologist found a piece of matter under the top eyelid--which had scratched the cornea. The ophthalmologist called it "cretious material"--don't know how close to the spelling I am, and said it was caused by "tears turning to stone". I've never heard of this before. Anybody got any ideas?

  • Does anyone on the site speak German?

I'm trying to find the name of a dish my Mom used to make. It sounded like "Kraut 'n Crumpen". It's a cabbage soup with a slightly thick broth.

  • How do you get rid of a Brazilian pepper tree?

Our neighbor has two of them starting to grow through and under our anchor fence. They've already bent some of the fence out of shape. We've trimmed what grows on our side of the fence, but sooner or later they're going to ruin the fence and the roots get entangled in our septic drain field. Is there a way to kill the roots in our yard?

I've tried putting the eggs in cool water, warm water, and hot water before boiling, and no matter which one it is, the eggs crack.

  • Has anyone had a chalazion removed from their eyelid?

I'm wondering if slight problems I'm having are normal. I had one removed 9 days ago from the inside of the eyelid. The eye tends to get sort of a film over it, somewhat blurring my vision. In the early a.m. it seems to be okay, but as the day wears on it gets worse. The inside of the eyelid is still slightly red and slightly sore. Is this normal for this kind of surgery?

  • What is causing cracks and bulging in outer walls?

We have a 10 yr. old cinder block and stucco home. Last year we noticed two cracks on the corners where our bay window is, and this year, it's slightly bulging beneath the cracks. The cracks do not go all the way through--what I mean is they look like surface cracks. Anybody got any ideas as to why this is occuring? (Serious answers please)

  • Why is my printer not printing?

When I hit "print", a window comes up with three icons, "add printer", "Broderbund PDF creator", and "Fax". A couple of minutes before I had no problem with printing anything--what happened?

Have had computers about 10 years and this is my first experience with viruses, etc. My AVG says the two trojan horses were in the "virus vault". What do I do now???
