He answered the call to muster

He had a rendezvous with death,

an old gent, he'd avoided many times,

sometimes by only a whisper's breath.

In the distance, he could hear the murmurs,

clear as if they shared a room,

from voices silent for many a year.

For a moment,

he could smell,

cigarette smoke and old leather,

whiskey and sawdust.

Could see his favorite mount - pawing,

jingling his bit - impatient to be gone,

over the horizon and down the trail.

Then the bite of pain,

sharp as a rattlesnake's fang,

brought him back to the here and now.

To a room of disinfectant smells and strangers glances,

his family - stands around, waiting for the end,

wanting it over, yet reluctant to let him go.

Quietly, he smiles,

his left hand beckons the one who will understand,

a silver circle on his breast,

as he leans down,

the old man whispered as he closed his eyes, "It's trails end."

WITH STATELY TREAD

Bugler, blow taps!

Right and left, you see judges overthrowing the will of the people who voted down gay's rights to marriage. You can't even tell a gay couple that you don't want to bake a cake for them, without being taken to court.

And the left comes out and crows about how 'progressive' this is, but if the decision had gone the other way, they would be out whining about Republicans, Cons and the other disgusting names they use are holding back progress.

All I see is the overthrowing of everything that once made this country strong.

A local high school has allowed student athletes to wear shirt with bible verses for decades, now the group Freedom from religion has sent a letter demanding they stop. What is so wrong with wearing those shirts if the kids are doing it because they want to.

The shirts are not bought by the school, or the state, but by the parents of the kids, isn't this interfering with freedom of expression.

The lame excuse the school is using to force them to stop is it's distracting at school

Really, both parties are to blame, but the Dems seem to get off easily for not passing any budgets or refusing to even consider a Republican idea to keep us from going over the cliff.

There was an crazy antiques dealer who drilled holes in a sideboard to make it more valuable. There was a power outage and this girl sang what was know as a 'torch song' with dancing skeletons.

I only block people because they use offensive language or have attacked me, my family or my religious beliefs. Otherwise, I ignore them as cowards, who use the internet as a way to get some attention.

Are they so desperate to find anything to avoid discussing the real issues of the campaign that they will resort to this?

After all, that's what dems want, isn't it? No one works. The government will take care of you. I don't know who they think will pay for all that entitlement; but maybe they are banking on lots of abortions - early and late term; so there won't be many people to take care of.

I was raised on evaporated milk and Karo syrup. I was six weeks premature and that's what the hospital told my mother to use. My sisters were also raised on the same formula, as well as assorted cousins.

I'm looking for a book set in Ancient Rome about a boy named Ambrose, who was adopted by a rich man. The man taught Ambrose how to make fine jewelry, but when he died his friends who had witness the adoption lied and said the boy wasn't adopted and he was sold off as a slave.

The other thing I remember about the book is a slave girl in Nero's court dancing in Nero's sandals at a banquet and Nero complaining about having to eat fried onions because they were supposed to be good for your voice.

It also has something to do with Christians. I know its not 'The robe'

I haven't read this book in years and would like to again. I think it was written somewhere between the thirties and forties.

I've been getting harrassing automated calls for over a week now, for non payment of a bill on a card, I never used and the account is closed.

I haven't been able to reach anyone to send a 'cease and desist' letter too.
